I am almost out of idea for Valentine's Gift. Year after year, my wife will say "Get me something unique. No flower, etc".
The greatest gift from her to me is my son, Vui Ctze in 2003. :)
Can you tell me as to the most precious gift you have ever received on Valentine Day? I may need to prepare for next year.

Very good lavanya... I think Valentine's Day is to commercialised nowadays... one stupid stalk of rose will cost RM10.00...
VD dinners cost at least RM200 up to RM500 for a couple... and you get crap food...
My wife & I sees this and we celebrated VD going to a proper Korean restaurant with Korean wine... a quiet dinner just the two of us, appreciating each other for the sacrifices we've made... Just like a thanksgiving dinner... That's VD to me...:)

Smart guys gives girls gifts that can be re-used sometime in the future.
Eg: You give a girl a good rice cooker or blender....if you marry her...you can reuse those and not waste money buying it again!!! :D
If you dun marry her, your sucessor will enjoy for gifts...:D

i've never really wanted to celebrate v-day, even back when i was dating... was just never into commercialised celebration and the prices for everything from flower to dinner was just crazy daylight robbery!!
but ex-bfs didn't think so and wanted to celebrate... well, their money, their choice.... one particularly memorable present that i've received was a hand-made AND home-made memory booklet where special dates were written in there, along with pictures and poems and just short phrases of thoughts... that was so sweet...

and NO, the lingerie was NOT a waste of money by a longshot, it was one of THE most romantic and sensuous thing I'd ever gotten for her. (does wonders for LM).....give it a try (and i dont mean YOU wearing it). You never know till you guyz try. Agree...I do not yet know a woman who can honestly say she doesn't love a nice sexy little lingerie...
Of course this does not include those pasar malam, gaudy looking type...

BTW, do you know what is "carpet bombing?".
Yeah, I define it as 'a massive pounding and dispersal of munition ordinance released from a low level flying 'bomber', over a specific area of attack, causing multiple instances of 'climactic' explosions from the target upon the released ordinances reaching their 'zone'. Friendly fire casualties may result if innocent bystanders happen to be in the area of attack.'
...the carpet was in the wrong place, at the RIGHT time :p

this might sound cliched, but it's not about spending money on women. it's about making them feel appreciated. so that means that you have to listen to them, take an interest in them and be considerate. what that means in actual terms is spending time to talk, do things that women like (you might even like it yourself eventually too) such as going on walks, washing the dishes, opening the door for them and show them that you've been thinking about them. it could mean something as simple as calling her during the day when you working just to say that you've been thinking about her. other considerate things are to talk to her after work and ask her how her day went. or cooking breakfast in bed for her on saturday or sunday morning. or leaving love notes for her in her wallet or bag in the morning before you go to work. or giving her a massage after a long day of work. or preparing the bath for her with nice bath salts and some candles around the bath. or sitting outdoors at home with some nice music on, the lights down low and some wine and then just talk. i know most guys aren't comfortable with all that, but it's really fun and going the extra mile shows the chick you care. of course you must really mean it, and eventually it will become natural. and then, spending money on them is the icing on the cake. :)

oh, the idea of massage and bubble bath definitely works well... how about this...? particularly after a long day for her, as she gets back, give her a massage then draw a nice bath, lit the bathroom with candles, play soothing music (think monica in friends drawing chandler's first bath)... while she rest and relax, that's the time you whip up some smoked salmon and champagne (or oyster/champagne whichever you prefer)... and chocolate for dessert... this ought to earn you lots and lots of brownie points... :)

correct. being considerate adds so much value. for example, if you buy her flowers, don't just give them to her when you get back. send them to her at work or deliver them yourself.

I guess some people do get stressed out buying stuff for people...I do,too...sometimes, more so when the person means a lot to me. Although yes, it's the thought that counts...but I'm happier knowing that I got something the person really likes (particularly if it is going to cost a bomb). For me, it also goes to show how much I understand or know the person...

Crackjet and I don't really fancy flowers for Valentine...it's just too expensive. He rather get flowers on other days (especially when he makes me really angry...that's his way to cool me down). He is good in writing poems. This was what I got from him last year...
Trouble over still water, worries I am not,
That's when I think of you
Hardship of working life tired will I not be,
That's when I think of you
Staying back late waiting for you, always sincerely I will be,
That's when I think of you
Understanding being a mutual process, patience will I always uphold,
That's when I think of you
Sad or happy being my choices, a smile will I always show,
That's when I think of you
And when I think of you
My days will always be fulfilled.
This year, thought of making a change...I got him flowers instead. :p He loves it a lot.
