i'm not sure if you guys have noticed (especially those logging in through dial-up) that the performance of the forum has been a little slower after the upgrade to version 3.0.5.
the upgrade was necessary to cover a php vulnerability (the forum run on top of php). there have been reports of forums being defaced by worms (e.g. the santy worm) that exploit this vulnerability.
the php developers have come up with working solution to the problem but it is still under beta. when a stable version is released, i'm sure vbulletin (our forum engine) will release a newer version that restores the performance back to before the upgrade.
until then, we'll just have to cope with it - all other websites running on php (there are a whole load of them) are experiencing the same thing (unless they choose to ignore the threat).
