Not necessary for a husband to be older than the wife I think.
I have known of male colleagues about my age happily marrying a woman 20 years his senior (immediately gaining a son about 5 years younger than him). The only problems that I saw him having was prejudice and backstabbing talk from some his own so-called friends around him. His marriage did seem to be a happy one.

One vote form me (Cina Apek Group) and the wife must not be taller than the husband. :p
Reasons:
1. Age - Just don't want to look younger than my wife (spare my wife from being embarassed). :D
2. Height - Definitely wouldn't like [wife's] hand over my shoulder when we strolled down the streets.

Even if you are older than your wife, when you reached 40-50 year old, dont care what your wife use, SKII, Lancome, go to whatever beauty saloon also no use. She will still look older than you.
But I do agree that the spouse cannot be taller than the husband. but must also make exception otherwise cireria how to find wife? I saw this guy, short and stumpy with a chick who is 'si pek sui". Great long legs, nice bod, supermodel face and definately taller than him. They were holding hands, so could only be 2 posibilities coz he is also young:-
1) She is rented from some escort agrency.
2) She could be her stepmum. Borrowed her from his dad to parade around a bit.

Of course. That is the norm. I think what daBoss is asking is the abnormal. Wife 60 yo and husband only 20.
But I think I prefer ML (mature Ladies) around 34-35. Nothing older. When I hit 40, than maybe, I might prefer chickadees.

$10,000 for a chickadee? Wah, during my time we can get a pack of chickadee with 10 sen.
Still can remember the ads going like this:
Saya Charlie Chickadee,
Yang Rangup Enak Sekali,
Cuba Nak Lagi,
Saya Charlie Chickadee.
Back to the topic...I still couldn't accept when I see a young man holding hands with a much older woman (that looks more like his mom). I am sure many forumers will contest my views.

For me...I can't stand both ways.....young man/much older woman and old man/much younger woman........but I guess it is true love, then who are we to judge......
But I think daBoss question is jus abt whether woman prefer guys who are a few years older than them....right, daBoss?
Well, on this, generally, women would prefer that, I guess, as the man would be more financially established and will be able to provide the woman more comfort materially. But saying that, there are also same age marriages, in which ppl marry their coursemates and there is aso nothin wrong with this as well or even a woman marry a man who is a few years younger....

Personally I prefer older guys (ideally, between 3-8 years older) as they are generally more mature, intellectual and 'stable' than their younger counterparts. I find it easier to respect their opinions and thoughts...

Aiya! even if you prefer younger man also you cannot say lah. You are already married to an older man of 4 years. right?
I've seen a 20++ guy with a 60++ year old lady before.
Really looked weird but then again....i suppose you should judge their love for each other, not their physical appearance.

Normally I see this type of guy (mid 20) at LV boutiques accompanying 50 years old Tai Tai... and his eye is looking at us.. younger woman.. :D

i think as long as the marriage is solid and happy, that's what matter most, isn't it?

I wonder how can a man be happy when he is 35 and his wife is 65? I still wonder!!! But then again your definition of happiness might differs. :D

I wonder how a woman can be happy if she is 30 and her husband is 60...
I guess in many cases (not all), they are just waiting for the old man to konk and they can then enjoy their new-found wealth with a young man.

not necessarily.... i do know a very loving and sweet couple where the husband is way older than the wife... they're now married for nearly 20 years... still very loving, they have nicknames for each other, they always have kind words for each other, and i've never seen them argue!!!
then again, this is probably an exceptional case...

why can't he be happy..? because of (lack of) sex..? that's not everything in relationship... one needs companionship, complimentary characters, the right "chemistry" to see how live could and should be... or could be for that simple fact that one feels peace and able to sit in silence yet connection in mind with his/her choice of spouse....

sad though to see people get married just for obvious wealth, then go out have extra marital affairs etc...

I guess being young, it's difficult to imagine how one can find a prune or a raisin attractive...if good chemistry only with no physical attraction, it'll probably go as far as being best friend...

I think the bottom line all of us should recognize is that having love is a good thing. If 2 people love each other, who are we as outsiders to say how they should live. My 2 cented opinion.

Actually, I think this thread is going a bit off-track liao...coz daBoss just wants toknow the personal preference of the forum members when it comes t their partner/spouse's age....not asking what we think about people who date older or younger partner...;)
So Dino, what's your personal preference?

This thread is a rather interesting thread to read. hmmm. let's see my personal preferance.
I"ll prob choose an older partner...anything from 1 year older to let's see...hmmm..a maximum of 10 years older. I wouldn't want to be with a younger person, unless that guy is super mature, i'll feel like his older sister taking care of a little fella...plus, i think ppl will definately able to tell that i'm older...eee...not something that most girls would like....
as for the ceiling of 10 years, instead of 20 years or so....being too old. there are lotsa things that you can't do together as a couples. say for example. you're 25 yrs old...and if ur hubby is 20 years older 45. then by the time urkid is 10 years old he'll be 55. so ur kid wanna do so many things but then, only mommy can temanand not daddy coz daddy got hi-blood pressure, weak heart, diabetes and so forth....it's no fun when daddy can only do the work of the grandpa and mommy gotta do all the parenting right? ;)

Well said LiLian, but all these lead to the ultimate "union" which is ever so important! :p
