this big milestone is fast approaching for me. i think for women a bit more difficult. my mother has out and out called me "old" and wants me to start having children cepat cepat cepat after i get married. me, i want to have kids but i want to take my time lah. make sure semua nanti cukup makan, cukup for school, and all that lah.

also i think it is a time to think about what we have, what we want, and maybe realize that there are things we want that we won't be able to have but to stop trying to achieve it would be giving in and that would be a blow to our spirits.

i say, onward to the next decade! may our 30s be better, more prosperous, happier and more satisfying for us! and if we are down, we can always come to the forum and chitchat with our classmates, that will help us feel better. i know this forum always cheers me up :o

it's not a competition guys, but i do agree with sila - getting more philosophical as the big 3-0 appears. well, the good news is that, 40 is the new 30!

couldn't agree more. if i ever have kids, i'm gong to teach them all that shit i've learnt over the year...
1) if you like a chick, tell her. don't worry about rejection, it's a numbers game.
2) don't worry about what other people think - do whatever you want as long as it doesn't harm others.
3) when working with tools, if you have to force it, you're not doing it right.

The average life expectancy of the cave man was about 16 years. In 500 BC the average life expectancy was about 20 years. In 400 AD it was 35 years. In 1900 it was 47 years. In 1930 it was 59 years. By 1975 it had advanced to about 71 years, and in 1989 it had advanced to 74 years for men and 78 years for women. Speculatively, by the year 2,010 it might be 100 years. During all of these times the Maximum Potential Lifespan remained at about 120 years, and has not increased.

yvonne, don worry, if they put you in a straightjacket by the time you're 35, i come and rescue you, ok? i launch a One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest sort of revolution...

aside from dream's possible delusions of grandeur, i think it's good to still have dreams, no? not be so cynical as to have given up all the wonderful dreams we may have had while we were teenagers?

as to me, i am happy about where i am in my personal life. i feel blessed about it. work is good, i love my job, but i will have to find something else soon because weekly travel is hard. and that is about what i have to do, i travel about 45 out of the 52 weeks in a year. so am at a point where i can either get a job which is sort of in the realm of what i know, or i can look around and make a career change. so i donno yet which one i will do when the time comes. it is difficult to switch careers though, at this point where i have a mortgage and dependencies, as you all might understand. but at least i know whatever i decide my friends and family will still be there with me ;)

we didn't have time for desert cos she had to go off for her indoor soccer game. ;) she cooked some sort of sliced potato thing with parsley and salami. not sure what it's called. it was pan fried. was ok. no complaints when i don't have to cook it myself.
i think i'm going through a soul searching time right now with the separation and all that. i guess it's a god time to re-evaluate what i actually want. one of the most important things is to figure out whether to settle down for good in perth or move on somewhere else like US, Melbourne, Sydney or Europe or maybe even Hong Kong...

Noumea is the capital of New Caledonia. I think its a French Colony or something la... My friends went there for honeymoon 5 years ago. I have been wanting to go ever since. I heard its an expensive place... and people there speak mostly french.

ah, i see. well, dream, i dunno about noumea, but if you ever go to hawaii there are some really cool spots there too. i jumped in the surf on the north shore of oahu, got POUNDED like hell man (that's where the huge world class surfer competition waves are). i mean POUNDED. right down into the sand. got so much sand in my suit i had about half a bucket on the ground in the bathroom when i was changing... never saw waves that big before, just being routine there. but on oahu, you must go to hanauma bay where the natural corals are just friggin' amazing. and people speak english! :D

hehe! in that case, i will certainly try to see what i can do. maybe next time i plan an extended trip to malaysia can do a hop to oz... (wheels are turning...) this time around will be a bit difficult, since the first coupla weeks i'm in malaysia we have to run around and do a gazillion wedding prep things. and after i want to chill out and show vin around our beautiful malaysia (tioman? redang?). but before we turn 3-0 plus 3-0, i will certainly try to get to oz!

A friend trying to comfort me with this when I've just hit 30... !!

This is for all you girls 30 years and over.... and for those who are turning 30, and for those who are scared of moving into their 30's...AND for guys who are scared of girls over 30!!!!

This was written by Andy Rooney from CBS 60 Minutes. Andy Rooney says:

As I grow in age, I value women who are over 30 most of all. Here are just a few reasons why:

A woman over 30 will never wake you in the middle of the night to ask, "What are you thinking?" She doesn't care what you think.

If a woman over 30 doesn't want to watch the game, she doesn't sit around whining about it. She does something she wants to do. And, it's usually something more interesting.

A woman over 30 knows herself well enough to be assured in who she is, what she is, what she wants and from whom. Few women past the age of 30 give a hoot what you might think about her or what she's doing.

Women over 30 are dignified. They seldom have a screaming match with you at the opera or in the middle of an expensive restaurant. Of course, if you deserve it, they won't hesitate to shoot you, if they think they can get away with it.

A woman over 30 has the self-assurance to introduce you to her women friends. A younger woman with a man will often ignore even her best friend because she doesn't trust the guy with other women.

Women over 30 couldn't care less if you're attracted to her friends because she knows her friends won't betray her.

Women get psychic as they age. You never have to confess your sins to a
woman over 30. They always know.

A woman over 30 looks good wearing bright red lipstick. This is not true of younger women. Once you get past a wrinkle or two, a woman over 30 is far sexier than her younger counterpart. Older women are forthright and honest. They'll tell you right off if you are a jerk if you are acting like one! You don't ever have to wonder where you stand with her.

Yes, we praise women over 30 for a multitude of reasons. Unfortunately, it's not reciprocal. For every stunning, smart, well-coiffed hot woman of 30+, there is a bald, paunchy relic in yellow pants making a fool of himself with some 22-year-old waitress.

Ladies, I apologise. For all those men who say, "Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free". Here's an update for you. Nowadays 80% of women are against marriage, why? Because women realise it's not worth buying an entire Pig, just to get a little sausage

couldn't agree more. if i ever have kids, i'm gong to teach them all that shit i've learnt over the year...
1) if you like a chick, tell her. don't worry about rejection, it's a numbers game.
2) don't worry about what other people think - do whatever you want as long as it doesn't harm others.
3) when working with tools, if you have to force it, you're not doing it right.

are u sure its onli TOOLS, euj??
i tink working with PEOPLE & SITUATION oso can be included here
