Hello friends,

I'm curious if Sitiawan got any swimming pool ah? Public or private that outsider can go in one.

Things I curious to know is:

1. Location

2. Price per entry

3. Opening days

Thanks.

That is good, at least i know i have a place to swim when i return.
Do they reserve lanes specifically for lap swimming then?
How much does it cost to go in if non-member ah?

I just google for example. But yeah, those speedo's hugging swimwear is .
I'm not sure if Msia pool rules have change to allow swim shorts. I'll never wear those bungie speedos!!!!

But here is the link.

Aiyo Alfred, quite true hahahaha. I scared there coz got sharks

Ya, I think i want to go into the Naval Base one :P

If it's in PISA stadium in penang here, i swim pay RM1 as member. The Olympics pool is 50metres. The life guard will ask visitors to change if wear shorts.

Thats what i remembered. I mean, that rule was in place since i was 10 years old. I suspect thats a Msian standard.

I thot sharks more scared of you, the buaya darat coming to invade their territorities ...??!!:p:laugh:

The Naval Base pool was constructed about a 1/4 century ago.. At that time it was one of the most beautiful olympic sized pool in the country which the most up todate design features. It was one of the 1st pool in Malaysia with water flush to top of the pool. The overflowing water from the pool are collected by the perimeter drain running parallel and adjacent to the edge of the pool.

In earlier pool designs, the drains are located inside the pool, about 1 feet below the top of the pool. Thus, the pool as never "full"

The Naval pool was hardly used during the earlier years... not sure about now .. I thot then that it was such a waste of taxpayers money...

It could have been put to better use.. Just allow the pool to be used by school children and engage a good swimming coach to train them.. In no time Sitiawan children will be swimming for the state and country !!

During my time there, we used the pool very often and almost every evening, the pool is filled with ppl. I sometimes ask my Dad to bring me there earlier (4pm) so that i can swim uninterrupted!

Basically the problem with the base pool is the hassle of going in....they treat U like shit.....everytime....need to buy pass....last time 20 bucks per year....but need some high ranking officer signature and now to top it up....U need to hang in your IC.....how U do that....well....U drive your car to the front of the gate....wave your hand to the guards....they will ask questions.....then U parking your car in front of the guard house then u walk to the house and show your ID and hang in the IC.....walk back to the car and go swimming then repeat the same thing again.....by the way U have to go back thru the same gate!!!My FIL got sick of this...:(

Very strange way of payment, swim first then pay later.

If my memory not faulty, it was free in 1985.. as long as you know a navy base personnel ..

How much does it cost to swim there now ?
