I'll start. Is M'sia showing "Carnivale" on HBO?
"CARNIVALE follows a traveling carnival as it wends its way across the Dust Bowl, focusing on Ben Hawkins, a mysterious 18-year-old fugitive with hidden talents who is taken in by the carnival, and Brother Justin, the charismatic, shadowy evangelist who will ultimately cross his path. The series takes place at a time of worldwide unrest, with evil on the rise around the globe and the Great Depression wreaking economic and social havoc here at home."
If you like supernatural series...check it out. I don't normally like to watch TV series....but this one got me hooked!!

Which channel did your kids addicted to? My 5 y/o is crazy over channel 63 -Playhouse disney channel. But I think ch 63 is still better than ch 60 to 62. Those cartoon there is too violent with superheros and stuffs. Where else, ch 63 contains educational cartoon like The Wiggles, Stanley, Out of the box, etc.
Ch 14 showing Hi-Five at 4.00pm everyday was good too. Those with kids might want to check them out.

My kids totally adore Channel 63...now we hardly watch 60 to 62. I think 61 (Cartoon Network) is a bit too violent for kids...Hey, don forget Pooh Adventure, PJ n Otter, Bob the builder, etc....

I just finished watching the season finale of the new Battlestar Galactica, and I have to say it has to be the best sci-fi TV series since Babylon 5 and Firefly. Star Trek Enterprise is Teletubbies compared to Battlestar Galactica!

Dem.. wonder when will the series hit the shores of Malaysia....
well, i know they made boomer an asian chick, but seems like they stripped all the important black characters from the original BG series, no? Colonel TIghe and Boomer are not black anymore, and off the top of my head none of the main characters are now black. other than our asian chick boomer, all quite lily white...

Interestingly enough the series plays out more like a character drama TV show rather than a sci-fi show. The weird sci-fi elements are very downplayed. And more importantly no technobabble.
To describe technobabble, observe the typical Star Trek episode: Activate the warp drive's anti-matter injector matrix which is to the left of the EPS plasma-neutrino convertor control module.
And for a straight in-your-face kind of show, observe Firefly, when the wounded mechanic is trying to get a clueless guy to pull on a lever: LOOK! Look at where I'm pointing.
Galactica belongs to the latter category. Very practical, no?

sky one shows a good bit of sci-fi type series... it's not the storyline, just the thought of sci-fi is already putting me off... doesn't feel like my kind of thing... strange, isn't it..?

I think thats why i don't think i enjoy it. If its a character drama....kinda boring right. I like the tech stuff. But if these characters has super powers and they are re-discovering their powers....maybe i'll watch. :o

Incidentally about 3 of Ron Moore helmed shows has (1) Alexander Siddig (Julian Bashir) of Deep Space Nine, (2) Nick Stahl (Ben Krohn Hawkins) of Carnivāle, and (3) James Callis (Gaius Baltar) of Battlestar Galactica....
All three different actors in the different series look very much alike it's creepy.

Its a very unique show set in the 30's i think. About a moving carnival group with some members having supernatural powers. Main character's power is the ability to heal other people. But his problem is that to give life, he has to take life. He is also on a discovery mission of understanding his powers.

WTF??? First a Ringwraith on GG, now a Teletubbie sun? Explain, I am intrigewed.
i dunno how far to explain so as to not give stuff away. suffice it to say there was christopher (rory's dad) and his baby daughter GG and they are watching the damn teletubby sun baby smack dab in the middle of the tv screen (within my own tv screen). a-oh!
joey is good in its own right. i really like it - the new characters are very funny. 2 thumbs up from sila. :D
and now a question: who did julien mcmahon play on charmed?

Cole, Phoebe's paramour, then husband (divorced him later), also a demon, and who ultimately became The Source (of all Evil). Yong really likes the show.

that's right hisham... but poor cole was so in love with phoebe he would do just about everything to get her back... ultimately (on episode 100), he played around with time, lost phoebe and died too... it was so sad, as that day was cole's birthday as well... i cried... :(
i think i remember watching an episode where cole was in hell and managed to bring phoebe back there with him and the other 2 had to come rescue her. or something to that extent..

oh, cole did that and a lot more... over the weekend was home in wexford, didn't have internet access as laptops in dublin, but plenty time to watch tv... managed to catch up with latest episodes of charmed so am very pleased with that... :)
plot definitely got more and more complex... used to be able to watch each episode on its own without feeling like something is missing but can't anymore... there's are so much links from one episode to the next nowadays...
"And walk out of this cabin while you still can."
That has got to be the most spine-chilling thing a father figure can say to a surrogate daughter of sorts.
part 2 Battlestar Galactica was f**king awesome!!!!!!
and i think i'm getting over the tubbies sunbaby being on Gilmore Girls. hopefully no more of that. :D btw, i finally watched the very first episode of GG (syndicated, of course). it was so good!

wasn't sure whether there's a thread on "star trek". anyway, this is the closest that i can find.
i have been watching the series "star trek: entreprise". the one starring scott bakula of the "quantum leap" fame. have just completed all four seasons. except for the ending for the last episode of its third season, i must say that it is the best among the "star trek" series that i've watched thus far. truly enjoyed it. fantastic! it's more realistic. the way the writers try to tie up the series to its successors was brilliantly done.
in a gist, the series basically sets out the "historical" events in the "star trek" world. the foundation of it. again, a highly recommended series!
just a note: you will need to follow all its episodes. if not, you might just be a bit lost and lose interest :)

Don't have to start. It's all finished now. It's been a downward spiral into hell in the fandom, thanks to the hacks in charge in the last 10 years. They brought in some new blood to inject freshness into Star Trek in the last 2 seasons of Enterprise but it was too late. It was the first modern Star Trek show to be cancelled before running its seven year course.
By that time, Battlestar Galactica (created by Trek writer alumni Ron Moore who left because of office politics) which was on cable (Sci-Fi Channel) had more ratings that Enterprise, which was on terrestrial channel UPN.
Which is kinda sad cause I used to watch Star Trek and enjoy it a lot. And some Fourth Season Enterprise episode are fantastic.
