Guys... there is no light or dark side lar... It is just a brand. A tool used to take photos. There is no right or wrong, good or bad. Both Canon and Nikon got their bad and good.

Having said that, the 50D and D700 are two different categories of camera altho on paper the 50D is more impressive in terms of pixel count and FPS (15mp and 6.3fps vs. 12mp and 5fps).

Now if you are comparing the 50D and 40D, then the newer model obviously got better specs lar. Quite a number of improvements. Firstly is the pixel count... up from 12 to 15mp. Not bad. But it could be bad news as more pixels are fighting for the same APC-sized sensor. But then again, the new DiGiC 4 processor could do new wonders. Also, the new LCD has a better resolution. the LCD display on the 40D was not that good.

But if you ask me, which to get? Hmmm ... tough choice. RM1k+ difference between the two.Hmmmm....

KK, I bet u that by year end/early 2009, some 2nd hand 30D's are gonna PLUMMET DOWN, pricewise (maybe under RM2k body-only leh!) and same fate with EOS40D to PLUMMET DOWN below RM3k body-only........

Waaa......what wars are these, folks? My take would be for Bizzi and Kamkuey's posts......TABIK and appreciate you both for clearing the air!

Shiru, read and inspect D700 specs PROPERLY.....before making your verdict - its images thus far (as far as even ISO6400 or maybe 3200 are concerned) - dun pray2.......

Be careful - if ever u wanna stick to Nikon/Nikkor, NEVER to fall to D60 and D40 kits because they only support Nikkors of the AF-S type and not the AF type (which includes prime lenses of apertures of below f2.0).....if u r really serious, just go for at least the D80 or not, D90 (where both the AF-S and AF type lens are supported equally well and what more, D90 got a bit of video recording features tho') - just my personal two sen :p

Sorry loctor - I am not sure how (if you want to get for example Tamron SP90 - Loctor Cheang may have one tho')....may need to experiment on yr own :p

Another shorter cut and way less expensive method is to get a macro/close up adapter lens to mount in front of your kit lens or some prime lenses (something like the role of a tele-converter), most popularly Raynox DCR-250 which range from 52mm-67mm in diameter. All the user needs to do is to screw the adapter lens on the lens holder's tread and mount the lens holder within the inner ring of the kit lens, so to say, and place your lens near the object until the CLEAREST of all focuses are obtained..........just my personal 2 sen :p

wrong question friend. the question u should ask is, "Why not?".
really, why not take other kind of fotos? why not take landscape with it? how about buildings? of coz it will look weird-ish...dats the point. unik mah. hahaha! like a fren who uses a superzoom to take close in portrait or even small insects (cant get close? zoom and zoom in somemore! LOL!)

A lens can take any kind of photo... whether ngam or not is another reason. An environmental portrait shot (picture of a person with lots of background to show location) can be shot using a telephoto as well, instead of just a wide angle. The effect will be much different.

Here are some samples taken with a 105 micro...

Agree 100 per cent with Kamkuey - at the end, it's up to the end user's judgment and discretion before focusing.......PLUS - practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, .....................:blink::rolleyes:
