Hello Socka, what's the point of Pool thrashing a team in one game and then the next game pulak sendiri kena thrash?? Just like Jekyl & Hyde story......

mana ada consistent, kadang-kadang menang, kadang-kadang kalah...

Anyway last week Pool won 4-0 and this weekend will be the opposite.

Bring on ronaldo, tevez, rooney or whoever you got on the pitch! Last season was very lucky for MU with a fluke goal by o' shea. Not this time! Even we dont have xabi and agger we r still strong!!!

My predictions for this match: liverpool-2 mu-1

Chelsea-1 Arse-0

Feel free to rebutt

Oh yes, please change the heading. Confirmed that Pool is second best to Man Utd.... :p

Err!! The correct score is Pool 0 Man Utd 1.

Yeah, Pool are butted again by Man Utd - two years in a row in Anfield. so the results says it all. Man Utd is better that Pool even when they play away in Anfield. Do I need to say more.

We only need to bring out Tevez this time to demolish Pool. No need o'shea, we rested him. So are u saying that MU is lucky this time?? :p Just admit it that MU is still better than Pool..

I guess this thread will be silent for the next week......

Cheers to Pool fans, have a Carlsberg or Heineken on the house. James will sponsor the heineken. No need to worry, still got the Carling Cup to look forward to next week. It is only vs Chelsea, sure can beat them right??

Congrats to MU! Well done to the back four they have contained the players really well leaving no room for our strikers. No doubt its a clear win for MU and thanks to fergie for his shrewd tactics playing defensively & capitalizing on the counter attack. We only have our defending and poor finishing to blame. 2-3 players were behind reina and unmarked!! Torres totally off target:crying:

Arbeloa was pure crap. Wonder why he get more starts than some of the established players. Rafa waited too long to bring in babel and riise(poor) was never the player he used to be anymore. Hope the owners got the cue now and have a good meeting with Rafa and bring in some good players to replace some poor ones.:p

We'll be back..........:crying:

Agree with Elvin. Football game is won when you take your chances. Liverpool made so many attempts but could not convert. Manure made two chances and converted one. They deserved to win.

yes one mistake is to use harry Kewell and not Ryan Babel
Ryan Babel looks much more lively
another thing is Kuyt, i don believe he is good enough
he may work hard but he does not contribute much to the team and he don score that much, Crouch is a better choice for me

Yeah, Elvin & Socka. Thanks for agreeing that the best team won last night (to be precise twice in a row at Anfield). Couldn't agree with you more that MU back four did well and contained pool from penetrating even to rescue vander sar's blunders.

Agree with jerry that babel is more lively player, I wonder why babel did not start instead of Kewell.

I would say the ref handled the high profile match pretty well. No untowards incident happened nor any serious injuries. Only minor shoving around only compared to Ars vs Chelski game. Terry is injured now, due to that, Gallas scored in the stoppage time of 1st half.

Looks like Pool will have a good chance to beat Chelsea in the Carling Cup.

Will be supporting pool to win on that night.

So what will happen to Rafa now?? Will he be given the boot by the American owners.

I think one reason why Rafa doesnt not start wik Babel is that, Babel doesn;t come back to defend much. The way Rafa has played his team is to expact the two wingers to retreat and defend.

I think the owners will not sack Rafa, could be too costly

Another false dawn for Rafa's Reds
TEAMtalk's Graham Shaw feels Liverpool's latest defeat to Manchester United shows exactly why they will not challenge for the Premier League.

Want to know why Liverpool haven't won the title in 17 years? Sunday afternoon had the answer in a nutshell.

Once again any dreams of finally ending that long wait were put into stark focus as they failed miserably on the big occasion.

Senor Rafa Benitez now has one solitary point from 21 against his team's most bitter rivals - reigning champions Manchester United. He also has just four wins from 21 against United, Arsenal and Chelsea. The games that really matter.

So any delusions of being ready to take what they perceive to be their rightful place on the throne can only be seen as flattery of the most deceptive kind.

In recent seasons Liverpool have been exposed as domestic football's equivalent of flat-track bullies, plenty good enough to crush inferior opposition but found wanting against the big guns.

In days gone by you could just about win a title by beating the rest, but now that just won't cut it.

In a Premier League where even one defeat can be catastrophic the mini-league between the "top four" is often now what decides who eventually takes the glory.

The infuriating thing for Tom, George and the Anfield faithful is that the script on Sunday afternoon was so predictable. Territorial advantage, domination in terms of efforts on goal - and yet still another damaging defeat.

Rafa's decision to start with Harry Kewell and Dirk Kuyt proved a disaster while Peter Crouch and Ryan Babel waited impatiently in the wings.

After years of being ravaged by injury Kewell doesn't have the pace or confidence to trouble a top-line defence. Babel on the other hand does.

Kuyt, while industrious and willing, doesn't have the guile or physical presence to cut it at the very top level. Crouch, at least, has the latter.

By the time he did introduce the pair of them it was too late, the writing was already on the wall.

Just as they did last March, Liverpool took their eye off the ball for one second - one fatal second.

Then it was John O'Shea profiting, this time it was Carlos Tevez. Déjà vu, groundhog day. It was all so strikingly similar.

You can't deny that Benitez has bought some top players to Anfield - nobody can deny the quality of the likes of Fernando Torres or Javier Mascherano.

But despite the big-money buys, and the local backbone and brilliance provided by Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher, there still appears to be an ingredient missing.

In some cases that can be provided by just one man - just remember that Sir Alex Ferguson searched six long years for the promised land before stumbling across one Eric Cantona.

Not many managers get that long these days to come up with the goods, and the goods at Anfield right now is top spot in English football.

Yes Benitez delivered the Champions League amid those amazing scenes in Istanbul in the summer of 2005. But right now that seems a distant memory.

There was a time when Liverpool fans expected title glory, almost like a divine right. Now for some it must seem like an impossible dream.

Manchester United waited 26 years to return to the summit - Liverpool have now waited 17. The similarities are striking - the sporadic brilliance, infuriating inconsistency and ability to come up short when it really matters.

With every passing year it gets harder - former glories weigh as heavy as an albatross.

Will Rafa be the man to finally end the drought. Right now I wouldn't bet on it. Would you?

Do agree on some of the points he brought up. We did not rise on the occasion when it matters most especially important games against the league leaders. Kuyt was ineefective and i was shocked to see him lineup for the big match. I would expect crouch or voronin at least but not kuyt because he is just under-par and his style is just not suitable for the team. I would expect gerrard to play behind torres and finnan on the right back. No, not arbeloa for this kind of games! he was a total crap.

We did created chances but at times the self belief in some players were just too obvious. Especially Riise and Arbeloa who gives away possesion of the ball too easily.

To add on to that, Rafa's position is in doubt at the moment. I think he will be very frustrated because no money left for him to buy anymore new players. We may have to let mascherano go. I think ppl have forgotten that we do have 1 or 2 big money signings BUT we spend too little money to bulid up the squad. We spend 40 million but recouped 20 million back. Versus other teams that spend a lot of money in buying and nurturing young talents like mu, arsenal and chelsea and they do not come cheap.

To make matters worse, the subprime mortgage thingy in the US has hit the american owners real bad that they have to scrap the 70k seater stadium and settle for a smaller one and no CASH TRANSFER for rafa:confused: Rafa was even asked by the owners whther he considered resigning...in other words...he was asked to RESIGN!

At some point of time, maybe the board members have thought why they choose the americans not the arabians to buy the club. With this kind of quality in the squad we can forget abt contending for the title.

Rough times ahead for Liverpool:crying:

On the other hand i do hope they would not get anything this year. Just lay low and play on with their remaining games. Stop making empty promises and frontpage headlines...the american owners should start by investing their own money into the club...take the glazers for example...they gave what fergie wanted...

I think the fans would not want this kind of owners and will make their voice be heard...

Not ALL American owners are the same. Just that Pool share holders should have choosen the right one..

Well Pool's fans power is strong enough to rock the management team... they should send a message to the new owners.

watched the game with portsmouth...nothing to shout about...of course its very rare that rafa put on his best 11. But at some point of the game, we looked quite complacent and not hungry for goal jus moving the ball around even we are leading 2-1. Luckily torres saved the day.

that's the end of it...after reading the results from the paper that Pools drew with wigan...we can say that the title chase for this season is over. The whole camp is in a big pile of mess. Management dispute with the owners, managers and players dispute...players not getting enough games..total disharmony! Which fan can actually swallow that we have a proven and quality player like mascherano but we have to let him go because we cant afford 17mil quids!

David moores and rick parry have betrayed the loyal Kops by selling our club to ppl who dont have the club interest and only interested in making money.. im sure they make a lot of money from the deal.

in my opinion Rafael should stop changing his team so much
he should always stick to his best 11 unless they really need a break
and stop using Harry Kewell and Kuyt,
i just don't think they are any good at the moment,
crouch and torres will be able to break down defenses
for god sake use ryan babel, kick that harry kewell out atm
another good plan will be to chunk out 35M to buy Berbatov
but i don't think Liverpool has the $$

i think we are poor at the left and right wings. Kewell is playing jekyl and hyde. Look at him when he played at th MU match. His face is like saying "pls dun pass to me" and evading here and there. But in some mathces he's quite decent. Not saying good but just decent. Bennayoun is little bit lightweight(no offense jerry) which doesnt cut out when going head to head with big-sized defenders. Kuyt....no comment...never liked him at all...

35M for berbatov???...Now we don even have a proper CD(Arbeloa playing stop gap here) how to buy a striker? I would say secure maschy and buy ezequiel garay...comes to about 25M total? Then use whoever we have... more sensible leh...

I have to admit that we are playing like sh*t now. I am totally against rotating the players on a constant basis. Rotation is fine in the early part of the season as we have to determine our best 11. If we keep on rotating, the players will not be used to playing with eachother. If you have watched the past few games, we cant event put more than 4 decent passes a game! Liverpool used to be the masters of the passing game!

I am not expecting any major buys in this transfer window. In January you either get semi decent players or have to break the bank to get decent players. We dont need semi decent players (we have enough of them in the squad) and we cant afford to break the bank.

Its easy to blame Messrs Gillet and Hicks for not willing to pour more funds into the club, but part of the blame should also be on David Moores and family who were not interested to give up part control to millionaire Steve Morgan who is fan of this club and who was willing to pump in money way earlier. Its time everyone in the club (owners, management, manager, coaching staff, players and fans) take a hard look and admit that there is something seriously wrong with the club and bite the bullet to take immediate action. Short term solution using the January transfer window will NOT work. This season has shown that we are still way behind the likes of Arsenal and Man u Slightly behind Chelski and just above the second tier teams (Man City, Everton etc). This is not Liverpool fc. WE have to admit our weakness before we can change. YNWA.

I am sure all the managers wants the best for the Team.. especially with how liverpool playing now.. yeah... pretty much shaky and sh*t game...

the have to stop rotating the players and stick to best 11 and go on winning all the games for the rest of the season if they were to have some funds again next season....
looking at the status... i have strong feelings... abt the team... but my trust and belief is still there... they can pull it out if they have the force and ability to do it....

yeah u right thy need several good defenders to hold the game... just that rotation...is pulling our game apart...

Never once that anfield got into this kind of limelight... watching the 2 owners are funnier than reading the comic section of the newspaper.

And finally our captain marvel Stevie G also blasted the comedy that is happening off field and affecting their game. Everyday there seems to be new story...what lah... pls lah ask the americans to go back and manage american football better lah...EPL is not for them:mad:

Reds in refinancing blow - Report
Tue 22 Jan, 10:00 AM

Liverpool could be plunged into fresh turmoil amid reports their American owners have suffered a setback in their refinancing plans.Already destabilised by speculation that George Gillett and Tom Hicks are considering selling the club, reports have emerged that the American duo's plans to refinance their loan have been hit.

The pair are understood to be struggling to secure the loan they require to pay back the original loan with which they bought the club last February.

The Daily Telegraph claims that the 'refinancing deal is on the verge of collapse' while The Times states that 'sources in the City believe that the Americans' regime is crumbling by the day'.

The news will not be met with disappointment by the club's supporters who made their antipathy with the American regime loud and clear during Monday's 2-2 draw with Aston Villa.

If Hicks and Gillett are thwarted in their plans, then the pair may conclude they have no choice but to sell their club to the Dubai-based Dubai International Capital (DIC) group.

The Telegraph reports "Time is running out for the Americans to conclude the loan agreement".

"Contrary to reports that they had until the end of February to sign the deal, it is now understood their one-year loan with RBS expires in just under two weeks."

Speculation was rife at the weekend that DIC had formally bid £500m for the Anfield club.

However, it is now believed that the offer was informal and only in the region of £300m - prompting Hicks to issue a defiant statement announcing he had no intention of selling his stake.

DIC, however, will not launch a formal offer until they have held talks with RBS but Hicks has refused to grant DIC permission to talk to the bank until any refinancing deal is completed.

Should the refinancing collapse, then DIC - run by Liverpool fan Sameer Al Ansari - would be in a position to move in.

Goodness me, you people still talking about Raba Raba...and still being emotional about past glories. Man up...Raba is not EPL material. Champions league is no level playing field. Anyway, let's see how Liverfool defend its 2-0 lead at Inter's ground and with 11 players.

Wow, Raba for England post...??? Must be over ambitious.

Come on, win the EPL first, then talk, otherwise it's what we call tin kosong. So, Liverfool will never walk alone but they will always walk behind Man U and Arse-nal. No money and yet want to build a new stadium.

Losing to Barnsley in the FA Cup...pathetic...main excuse...resting players for Champions League...but winning the tie against Inter playing with 10 men.

Ya, right...says jstantly that Raba...oops...Rafa is jaguh Euro. Well said...so his focus will always be UCL. Wake up, fans from the End-field, that goes to show he will never win the EPL for you guys.

Any manager can win the UCL given the time, money and players ( remember Leeds United who went all the way to the semi-final) but not any ananger can win UCL and EPL. Jose 'the moaner' Mourinhno didn't, Arsene 'the sore loser' Wenger didn't, not yet let alone Raba Pennybetek.

Arse-nal possesses the best passing team and it will be a matter of time Arsene will land the UCL. SAF had won in 1999 and he may land another one soon. Raba may capture it again but with current team, I doubt it. So Raba, concentrate on building a team to challenge for 2009 titles before his head land on the chopping board.

Ha ha ha, welcome to the Emirates stadium and be circumcised or welcome to the theatre of dreams where you will have nightmares after nightmares. Remain in End-field and you will always walk behind the Red Devils and the Gunners.

Stop emotionalising past glories and remember 1990. All the very best to the Kop.

Yes, Pool got knocked out of the cup in the round of 16th. Are Manure an Chelski getting a cup for finishing loosing quaterfinalist. SAF must have a lot of these cups at home. Lets not talk about the past but lets talk about the 1990s which is so present!

Rafa may not have won the EPL, but I am sure that all football fans remember that SAF won the league and all cups in the first year in charge of Manure.

You do not want to talk about the past but talk about 1990. Goodness, are you kidding, 1990 is so present? May I offer you a calculator? You must have hailed from the era of 1990 but I doubt it. 1990 is the past and 1990 is a long way...18 years ago. That's why they always want to talk about 1990, so emotional, so touching, my tears are rolling.A baby born in 1990 will be doing A-Levels this year, mind you. Let's not talk about the past, let's talk about 2006-2007. Now, that is present.

Rafa may not have won the EPL, but I am sure that all football fans remember that SAF and Man U inflicted a demolition, decimation and a Grand Slam massacre of Liverfool team at the theatre of dreams (nightmares to Liverfool) last Sunday. Simply outclassed, outplayed. Torres checked, Gerrard checked, Babel (or Bebel, membebel)...checked and substituted.

Pepe 'Sudah Tidur Lena' (Reina) butter fingers goalie terrorised by the double R. And Brown of all people to score.

One more thing, all Liverfool fans will argue that the referee made a mistke expelling Javier 'the gangster' (march like a rhino) Mascherano. Oh please, billions of eyes saw him hackling the referee even after his team-mates tried to pull him away. Like ex-Liverfool player, McMahon said during the interview that it was a stupid thing to do to argue or question the referee. Better still, Mr. Raba Raba said he didn't say anything. From the TV set, only a blind can't see his lips muttering away and his aggressive facial expression against the referee.

A sore losing team with a sore loser player. Now, all Liverfool fans will say they will win the Champions League Cup. Aw man, old news, that's what they will be focussing on for many years to come as EPL will continue to elude them. Come on, try to qualify for Champions League automatically la rather than the play-offs. Seems that they have to contend with their neighbour who is breathing down their neck for a place in CL.

Run down Endfield library and get hold of Bill Shankly's or Bob Paisley's manual/journal. Probably it's covered with dust as nobody touched it. Perhaps, Raba Raba can learn a thing or two from these two great managers. Talking about the past, this is what Liverfool canand should do. SAF could have searched for Sir Matt Busby's journal and learned his pattern of excellence. That's why SMB's Busby Babes were emulated by SAF with the emergence Fergie's Fledglings. Anyway, talking about the present, replace Benitez and get a new set of defenders. Oh ya, one final thing, send the two clowns, Hicks and Gillett back to Uncle Sam for they know nuts about soccer.

Yup season is over. Agree with Elvin that Pool had one too many draws in the EPL this season. Losses were alright as we kept them low and even comparable to the likes of Man U and Chelsea. Man U are playing fantastic football with Ronaldo in top form and they deserve to be where they are today. Watched the CL semis and it was painful. Chelsea played very well (esp in the 1st half) and we were beaten by a better team that night. We tried to come back but Drogba's goal in extra time was fantastic and nothing we could do about it. Still love this team. YNWA

cheer up socka...we cannot always win against chelsea isn't it? 4 champion league games against chelsea and 3 wins is not bad at all. Ok..it does make jose mourinho look bad but avram grant deserve the credit for holding the team together this season cos at one point it looks like the whole team is breaking up(or is this just a trick up his sleeves to make them look weak) Rafa was right when he said "4 strongest team in europe is currently playing in EPL!!"

May the best team win the league and CL! oh btw, i watched the game against everton and was laughing at nani for sending off. 2 attempts to nut a guy in the groin is so unprofessional. I guess Fergie must have slapped him silly in the dressing room. Embarrasing stuff.

cheer up socka...we cannot always win against chelsea isn't it? 4 champion league games against chelsea and 3 wins is not bad at all. Ok..it does make jose mourinho look bad but avram grant deserve the credit for holding the team together this season cos at one point it looks like the whole team is breaking up(or is this just a trick up his sleeves to make them look weak) Rafa was right when he said "4 strongest team in europe is currently playing in EPL!!"

True, count the blessings and be happy bout it. In post match interview, Fergie agreed with the sending off. Stupid of Nani.

Season is close for The Reds. Benitez will stay and bring in new players and hopefully the Barry and Bentley deal will go thru. That means riise, crouch, pennant and few others will be sold off. Hopefully next year we can turn those big number of draws into wins next season. Cheers! we will just get better next season:)
2nd or 3rd placing is a better result...

... Man U are playing fantastic football with Ronaldo in top form and they deserve to be where they are today...
Thank you, welcome!

This one I agree. Man U improves by learning from stupid mistakes like this one.
