thanks guys for the well wishes... am feeling better today - believe that the worst is over... should be quarantined for another 2 days :)

hands and feet really bad - full of blisters. mouth ok... but ulcers on the tonsils make it unbearable to swallow. also, don't know why so many many many blisters on my face on head... when i get up in the morning, my hair stuck to my pillow because of the oozing liquid from the blisters... yuck!

victor

hey are sure it is not chicken pox? usually in kids we don't see so much blister over the face. get some difflam lozenges or oral aid gel to sooth the oral discomfort.

Daboss, sorry to hear that you're unwell. If it's chicken pox, then I recommend you drink lots of water chestnut juice (mui li) which helps a lot and avoid dark soy sauce in your food.....you might get unwanted dark spots on your face and body after the scabs dry off. Anyway, hope you'll recover quickly and watch out for Dalady and your kids if they haven't contracted chicken pox before!

Yeah, no dark coloured food sauce and no scratching to prevent scarring.

sorry to hear about it daboss and athena. I got chicken pox in my twenties, and suffered so badly (3 weeks, still have some scars)). That time didn't know about acyclovir. It's an antiviral and if diagnosed and given early enough can shorten the disease.

athena

h20: no worries...what to do.... sud hv kena when young...at least not so severe....

monay: how early is early? the doctor gave me the acyclovir at the first sight of the spots

alf: why do you say that hfmd is very rare in adults? issit becoz adult's body can fight off the virus?

daboss: hope you're feeling better!! :)

if I am not mistaken, a doctor told me that hfmd attacks on children 10 and below. The older you are, the chances decreases. There4, for adults, its almost nil. Any doctors to confirm this??

in chicken pox or varicella you do get blister in the mouth and oral ulcers too!though it is not impossible to get hmfd in adults but there are many cases seen in outpatient. very rarely they(hmfd) cause so extensive lesion over the face. but never mind hope you recover real soon! cheers!

that was pretty good. It should be given within 24/48 of start of rash.
