Mourinho leaves Chelsea: BBC
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has left the English Premier League club, the BBC and other British media reported early Thursday.
There was no immediate confirmation of the reports from the club, but Sky Sports News quoted an un-named senior player as confirming that the Portuguese manager had sent text messages to members of his squad informing them of his decision to leave.
If confirmed, Mourinho's departure will send shock-waves through English football.
The Portuguese manager has transformed the nation's football landscape since taking over at Stamford Bridge in June 2004, winning two Premier League titles in his first two years in charge and the FA Cup last season.
But his relationship with Chelsea's owner Roman Abramovich has always been fraught and it now seems that a disappointing 1-1 Champions League draw with Norwegian side Rosenberg on Tuesday was his last in charge.

Mourinho sacked after Chelsea crisis meeting
Chelsea have confirmed that manager Jose Mourinho has left the Stamford Bridge club by 'mutual consent' after three trophy-laden years at the helm.
A club statement claims that the decision was reached after the launch of a new Chelsea documentary - Blue Revolution - at the Vue cinema in Fulham on Wednesday night, where an emotional Mourinho refused to talk to the press.
However, the rumours of his departure began earlier in the day and claimed that billionaire owner Roman Abramovich called crisis talks following Tuesday night's disappointing 1-1 draw with Norwegian minnows Rosenborg in the Champions League, at which the fractious duo had a furious falling out.
Mourinho is believed to have informed senior players of his departure following training on Wednesday and one of those players insists that the manager has not resigned but has been sacked by the Blues.
Mourinho's rocky relationship with Abramovich was public knowledge and despite an apparent thaw in relations last season the duo were again at odds over the role of £30million striker Andrei Shevchenko and the Blues' dour style of football even before Tuesday's result brought events to a head.
The Portuguese manager, who has won the Champions League with Porto and two Premier League titles as Chelsea manager, was the subject of continual scrutiny last season and hinted at an exit last summer when he admitted he 'was a bit fed up with certain things' at the club.
After three-years at the London club the self-styled 'Special One' is expected to attend training for the final time on Thursday, when he will say good bye to his players.
Chelsea lost their title to Manchester United last season and have started this campaign with some lacklustre displays.
Their last two Premier League games ended in a defeat at Aston Villa and a 0-0 draw at home to Blackburn Rovers, leaving them fifth in the table.
Tuesday's draw with Rosenborg Trondheim in the Champions League was watched by just 25,000 fans.
Chelsea's next match is against Premier League champions Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.
I hope there will be no mercy for Chelsea this weekend?? Guess who is going to coach chelsea now???? Life as a Manager sucks in EPL!!:( It is not fair treatment for Mourinho. He has always been a good manager except for his arrogance. Chelsea were nothing b4 Mourinho arrive at Stamford Bridge...

Chelsea to give job to Roman's mate Grant?
LONDON, Sept 20 (Reuters) - Chelsea's director of football Avram Grant is to take over as coach following the shock departure of Jose Mourinho, according to reports.
The club would not immediately officially confirm the appointment but Chelsea sources said it would not be a surprise if Grant, who is close to billionaire owner Roman Abramovich, took on the role.
Grant, an Israeli and former coach of his country's national side, was appointed director of football in the close season and had been shadowing Mourinho. He sat behind the Portuguese in the dug-out at matches and attended training sessions.
Mourinho had opposed his appointment during a long standoff with Abramovich last season but appeared to have accepted his arrival at the start of the season

is this the beginning of the fall of the mighty blues?
i think so if they let this israel guy coach
this israeli guy just coach israel before and also some clubs in israel or somewhere there.....boleh ka him?
or he is just temparory
i think the club atmosphere will be so much different now
since i think a lot of key players have a lot of trust in moanrinho
though i hate him, i have to admit he is the best manager that chelsea ever has
Peace

So the shocking news is the special one has left as Chesea's manager so early in the season, Chelsea will likely to be in crisis now. Players that he brought in to Chelsea will likely to go also in the near future. Chelsea without the special one will be a weaker contender to the league title this season. So the MU, Reds & Gunners fans will be grinning!
So, where will Mourinho go from here? He's the most sought after manager and big clubs like Real Madrid will definitely seek his services. Don't think any other clubs in UK can afford his salary. On the other hand, will Roman with his billions get a capable replacement soon? and who will be the likely candidates?

'Proud' Mourinho settles with Blues
Jose Mourinho settled a massive compensation package with Chelsea and then declared he was proud of his achievements at the club.
Mourinho finally agreed on a financial settlement late on Thursday evening after agreeing to leave the club by mutual consent earlier in the day.
Chelsea have since appointed their director of football Avram Grant as his replacement.
Mourinho's decision to step down as manager was due to a breakdown in his relationship with the Chelsea hierarchy.
But he is set to land a reported £20million pay-off as compensation for the remaining three years of his contract - worth around £6m a year.
Mourinho said: "I am very proud of my work in Chelsea Football Club and I think my decision in May 2004 to come to England was an excellent one.
After a night of negotiations at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea finally released a statement confirming that all contractual arrangements had been sorted out with their former coach.
The statement read: "Chelsea Football Club has reached agreement on all contractual arrangements with José Mourinho."
No wonder Moanrinho wanted to leave Chelsea in a hurry!! Smart fella, cash out and leave. He can now stay jobless for the next 3 years or even more...

Wenger fires shot at 'boring' Jose
Arsene Wenger fired a parting shot at Jose Mourinho by criticising him for not being as entertaining on the pitch as he was off it.
Despite being shocked by Mourinho's departure from Chelsea earlier this week, Arsenal manager Wenger insisted the man renowned for shouting his mouth off could be easily replaced.
Wenger told The Sun: "It is one thing to be entertaining in press conferences but it is not the same value as being entertaining on the pitch.
"That is what people love football for and there is no doubt Chelsea have the resources to replace him with another top-class manager."
Wenger, who clashed with Mourinho on countless occasions on and off the pitch, went on to add that the Portugese coach's arrival made the Premier League more interesting.
He added: "I want to be working in the best league in the world and confronted by the best managers. Mourinho's arrival made this league more interesting because it brought another club into the top-level flight.
"Before it was just Arsenal and Manchester United, now there is also Chelsea, Liverpool and others.
"It is difficult from the outside to assess how much Chelsea's success was down to Mourinho's quality, how much down to Abramovich's money and how much to the fact he inherited a good side which had finished second the previous year.
"One thing I do know is that you can have money and still not win trophies but you cannot be successful if you are a bad coach."
Yeah, Wenger will miss Moanrinho dearly............

Abramovich to take control of Chelsea tactics
LONDON: Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich (pic) will reportedly take control of the team's tactics following the departure of manager Jose Mourinho this week.
Avram Grant, the former Israel coach who replaced Mourinho, will defer to the Russian businessman when it comes to coaching the side, British newspaper The Observer reported yesterday.
The paper said Abramovich already started to give the team instructions before Mourinho left the club on Wednesday, while Grant had been undermining his predecessor this season by trying to curry favour with senior players.
Players reportedly complained to Mourinho about Grant's approaches, leading to a reduction in the number of team meetings.
Grant was initially brought to Chelsea as director of football by Abramovich, one of several appointments made against Mourinho's wishes.
He has never coached a club outside of Israel and has only been involved in six matches in the Champions League, a tournament that Mourinho won with FC Porto in 2004.
It was widely reported over the past year that Mourinho had little control over transfers and that Abramovich had foisted Ukraine striker Andriy Shevchenko and Germany midfielder Michael Ballack upon him in an attempt to make the team more entertaining.
The Observer said yesterday that Mourinho was turned down in January when he asked for a striker following Shevchenko's poor start to the season. The paper added that Shevchenko, a close friend of Abramovich, and Chelsea captain John Terry were the prime movers in ousting Mourinho.
Terry was upset that Mourinho asked the club's doctors if there was a medical reason for the defender's poor performances this season, and had to be cajoled by another member of the coaching staff to take part in a pre-match drill ahead of Tuesday's Champions League match against Rosenborg.
Following the match, Abramovich reportedly entered the locker room while Mourinho was attending a press conference and, using Shevchenko as a translator, told midfielder Michael Essien he should have played more wide passes.
Terry reportedly informed the club that Mourinho no longer had the backing of his players. That, combined with the 1-1 draw against the visiting Norwegian team, led to Chelsea asking Mourinho for his resignation.
The paper added that several players confronted Terry on Friday, with Didier Drogba, Ashley Cole and Florent Malouda accusing him of not doing enough to try and keep Mourinho at the club.
When Mourinho said goodbye to the players, he reportedly embraced most of them, with Drogba and Frank Lampard reduced to tears.
He gave Shevchenko and Terry just a perfunctory handshake. – AP
So, Captain Terry and Shevchenko is the culprit to get rid of Mourinho.... This will sure to create unrest in the team.... Good for others tho...
Roman the architect and Avram the puppet master!!

That's a nice inside story you have there jstanly... Chelsea will not win anything this season... after reading your report i think the best they could do is winning coca-cola cup aka league cup.
Mourinho made the best decision leaving chelsea. How to coach a team if everyone wants a hand in making the decisions...Man, im really confused with this Abramovich. He thinks he can coach better than mourinho...that is the most absurd thing i've ever heard.
Chelsea players especially the seniors will never give in listening to somebody who doesn't even have the experience in coaching. Its like an architect taking advices from a roti-canai maker:wacko:
Ohh...now i know y Sheva not leaving chelsea yet....its b'cos he still have to do the translations for Abramovich..if not ppl will not understand what he's talking abt...Haha...Very expensive translator he have there...wooh..

Chelsea confirm Ten Cate arrival
Chelsea have confirmed former Ajax boss Henk ten Cate has joined the club as assistant first-team coach.
Ten Cate has reportedly sealed a three-year deal worth around £1.8million a season after Chelsea agreed a compensation deal with Ajax earlier this week.
Ten Cate will work under manager Avram Grant and alongside Steve Clarke although Chelsea are still searching for a goalkeeping and fitness coach, together with a scout.
A statement on Chelsea's official website said: "Chelsea Football Club can confirm that Henk ten Cate has joined as assistant first-team coach and we would like to welcome him to the club."
The 52-year-old came to prominence during a highly successful spell under Frank Rijkaard at Barcelona, where they won the Spanish title and Champions League.
Can he revive Chelsea??
