In case some of you still unaware of this, a fellow 1990er Ming Fang (younger brother of Ming Juan) passed away earlier this year. Here are some of the Yahoogroups email exchange between 1990ers.

The facts:

As you all know from last month's email thread on Ming Fang, he has been afflicted with some sort of muscle disease that has incapacitated and immobilized him. A few of us have been planning in the last few weeks to visit him at the Moonlight Care Centre in Ipoh this weekend. So I tried calling up the number posted by Gnana earlier to get the exact location of the place, and to find out how he is, and if there is anything we could bring for him. But instead, I got a house number instead of the nursing home.

So I googled for the nursing home this morning, and emailed the link to [my wife] Ain's addy with the new telephone number since she has more leeway with phones at her workplace than I do at my workplace. Joy, for tomorrow Saturday the 19th, we will finally visit our old friend which I last saw early 2002.

At about 10 am this morning, Ain called me up and told me that she has learnt that Ming Fang died last month in the nursing home, and that he has been there beforehand for more than a year. According to the personnel that spoke to my wife, his body was claimed by his mother and the church, and was returned to Sitiawan. He also had some visitors from Sitiawan whose names I don't recognize. Before his death, Ming Fang could also identify his visitors, and recognize who's who.
Saturday morning I called up the Moonlight Care Centre myself. More facts:

1) He was interred into Moonlight with a mental problem, at first.

2) He had epileptic seizures, during which he was quite self-destructive, (i.e. bashed his head to the wall, suffocated himself)

3) He could walk on and off.

4) When he was okay, the lady who talked to me said he was a nice guy. He talked about his days in school all the time.

5) He was in the Pasir Putih location at first but when his medical contidion worsened he was transferred to Canning Gardens.

6) The doctor who came to see him a number of times from Sitiawan was none other than our own Dr. Chua Bee Sim.

7) He died peacefully in his sleep, apparently of cardiac failure which is the norm for cases like this I was told.
Ok about Lim Ming Fang status: He passed away about 1-2 months back. Cause of death: really not sure. He was unwell for about a week with diarrhoea. Seen several doc but was not admitted. Apparently the night before he passed away he was getting slightly better but next day he was found dead in his bed. He did have mental illness on medication and psychiatric follow up.

I was also shocked about his death.
Ming Fang’s untimely departure has caused great consternation amongst us as we all grew up together and more so when we were planning on visiting him. I’m a bit taken aback that the actual cause of death was never established. Wasn’t a post mortem performed?

We always knew there were problems in his state of mind since his days in school but the physical deterioration came as a bolt, furthermore at such an age.

He has endured more pain than most and I am glad that he has at last found a resting place – peace be upon him……….
In closing, Rest Is Peace good friend.
