Peace, did you attend the New Road church? We had many Simpang Dua members back then in the 80s'. We'd alternate between New Road and Spg Dua church each Saturday. That time we rode bicycle in group, I think only Buff and Dieh drove motorbike to the church. When it's time to go to Spg Dua's church, I dreaded the most when we were near the New Road/Spg Dua cemeteries......since the Youth Fellowship sessions ended quite late.....all of us boys and girls would cycled like mad.......hahaha.......

Nope, I'm from New Road. Buff is a fellow forummer and our church pianist then. Dieh is my cousin brother. Do you know Jim Diong, Joseph Mah or Rosline Mah then? They live in Spg Dua also. We called Jim Diong, Chau Hu and they were our church youth fellowship member. Jim is also a member of this forum but I don't think he knows I'm here. :)

Haven't been there for the last 1 1/2 years already. The last time I visited the church was in year 2005, Christmas Day celebration with my family. At that time, we came back from Bahrain for vacation.
New Road is Xing Nuo or Xing Lu in Mandarin. Never heard of Monney before.

There were many pretty girls back in 1988 F5 class. They may be aunties now (I also uncle already), but back then they were the prettiest of all. Ranking of the prettiest (base on my view) is: 1. Ann 2. Ping 3. May 4. Bing 5. Jean.
I still remembered many guys from other upper forms always purposely walk pass our class round 'n round just to catch a glance of the pretty girls.

I remembered when I was small and days approaching the festival, the kids around our neighbourhood would paraded lanterns made of Milo tins and repetitively shouted 'ngian deing eh, ngian long eh'......gathered at the church court yard and played till midnight. Such a sweet memories. :)

Dun think your get rich scheme can work. 1 box of fireworks selling ffor $5 only. The small pack of 6 sticks sell for 60cents. I think in M'sia much more expensive. Last CNY, i bought 1 box from S'wan market or ~RM 20.

Agreed with you peace, been looking for it for many years but alas, the 'rat' still escapes. It brought back sweet memories in my younger days, how the four of us will jump up and down in joy and divided the whole lot that been bought into 4 portions, selfishly only for ourselves. Eating near expired mooncakes is surefire to get lau sai, but also need to drink lots of water. I purposely do it so I can see doctor and get mc for the day hehehe :p .
It's a wise business management becoz you buy the mooncakes at a very cheap price, get to eat it and enjoy the taste, then get diarrhea and get to see handsome/pretty doctor (company pay the bill), get a day off, then you lose appetite and you will eat less therefore save money, and then can help you to lose weight some more, therefore no need to join the expensive weight loss programme. :p

Yes, I think that's right. Hockchew people likes to give "rat biscuit" as gift during Mid-autumn festival. You're right, it's not healthy, it's very sweet and diabetics cannot eat it and it have lots of calories too (haha.. How about learning an idiom that I liked very much. This is a Chinese idiom that reads 惊弓之鸟 (jing gong zhi niao) which means "A bird is startled by the mere twang of a bowstring". This idiom means that from someone's past bad experiences, a person will be afraid of anything that is similar.
A quite similar English idiom would be "Once bitten, twice shy" which means someone who has been hurt or who has had something go wrong, will be more careful the next time.
Funnily, my friend once argued with me that this idiom is spelt "Once beaten, twice shy", he explained that he was once beaten up and now more careful! :p

I tell you a story ar, funny one... One hot afternoon, 3 best friends, Snakey, Froggy and Millipedey go out together to play. Froggy said, the weather is so hot, why not someone go to town to buy some fruit juice to drink. Snakey, your body is so long, you surely can reach the town fast, said Froggy. Snakey said ok, so Snakey slither, slither and on halfway Snakey think to itself, I've got no legs, Froggy have 2 big strong legs, he surely can run faster than me. So Snakey slithered back and tell Froggy that he should go to town instead. So off Froggy goes jumping, jumping and on halfway, Froggy think to itself, I only got 2 legs, but Millipedey got hundreds of legs, he should run faster than me. So Froggy jump back and suggest to Millipedey that it should go to town instead. Millipedey said ok and off it goes.
While the two, Snakey & Froggy waited under the tree for Millipedey to come back with fruit juices. The two waited and waited, from afternoon they waited until dusk but they never saw Millipedey returned. Snakey angrily said, "this Millipedey must have absconded with our fruit juices and went home himself". Froggy added, "if I find Millipedey tomorrow, I'll whack him cukup cukup!". And then, beside the tree's bushes, they heard some sound and to their surprise, they saw Millipedey beside the bushes and Millipedey loudly said, "You two jerks! I overheard the bad things that you both said about me, if you don't like me, then don't have to ask me to go buy the fruit juices for you! By the way, I'm not even halfway to the town yet! :p

Here I would like to introduce a Chinese idiom that reads 千言万语 (qien yien wan yue) which literally translated as "thousand of words, ten thousand of languages", but it means "got so much things to say". This idiom is also an evergreen song title by my favourite female singer, Teresa Teng. If you haven't heard this song before, you are a guaranteed banana! So why not take a listen to this lovely song! Just click on the song below. :D

Here is a chinese proverb that I learnt through a song. It's called 第二春 (ti er chuen) literally translated as "the second spring", but it actually means, "being youthful the second time around", it is used to describe an older person who does things that young people do. And this proverb is also a title to a late 50's song which I like very much called 第二春 sang by Tung Pei Pei. This chinese 第二春 song was later copied into an English song called "The Ding Dong song" sang by Tsai Ching which became a big hit in the Western world. Take a listen to both versions of the song, you'll sure like it! :D
