the "act cute" pages are for the graduating classes... they are given the chance to design their own pages in photoshop.

sorry, maybe i was not clear.. i mean the final product.. in wat format do you summit it? word? Photoshop? Publisher??

owh..not sure bout how they do it for the malaysia publisher..

in singapore, photos edited using photoshop, saved as jpeg and reopened in indesign where text are added, crop bleed and colour codes are added and after that exported to pdf in cmyk for the publisher to print.

last time we stuck pictures and wrote on pieces of paper, then the publisher will just get it done.

Now we do most of that work ourselves. we "transfer" .pmd (Adobe Pagemaker 7) or .psd (photoshop) files to the publisher. (usually through CD-Rs, but occasionally through email if there's last minute changes) Almost all of the "fancier" pages are done in photoshop. The rest are done in pagemaker. The publisher will do slight final touch up and apply a bit of template styles if neccessary.

The publisher gives us the page size, margins and resolution to work with. While I was in school the dimensions was 7.5 x 10.5, 300dpi. margins 0.75" all round except 1.125" for the top margin. margins are ignored for the "full colour" pages. In my last year we found out it was better to use CMYK for the colour pages. dang... I can't believe I still remember...

Our publisher is BoonBeng, based in Taiping.

I recently found out that Pagemaker is now known as Indesign now...

As for cost per page... I've forgotten... have to ask Pn Cheang about that one. Probably Pn Ong (kheng) also knows.
