Hi friends,

I heard about the earthquake and tsunami. I'm glad that Malaysia was not badly hit. It's a terrible tragedy for those in Sri Lanka and India, and Phuket.

How's the situation back home? I read that some high-rise buildings in KL suffered some cracks.

Hope you and your family are all ok.

Basically, there was no impact in KL. However, Penang was rather badly hit, with more than 50 casualties. However, of all the countries in the region, Sri Lanka recorded the highest death toll, more than 11,000!!!

In Malaysia, other than Penang, the other states are all okay.

Dancing to the tune... "I feel the earth moved under my feet." First experience for me. But not chee kek enough. Was in Penang during Christmas holiday. The whole islanders can feel the shaking about approximately 9am plus. But those staying in Tanjung Bungah was badly hit by the wave at around 1.00pm.

Hi. My parents felt the tremor at 9:03AM back home in Sitiawan. They were playing a round of cards when my mom suddenly felt dizzy and thought she was beginning to black out. My dad wanted to put some minyak kapak for her when he felt the tremor, and that lasted for 20 seconds. The shell-lamps in the house started shaking as well. The death toll is increasing! What a tragedy! And in a few days' time, we are welcoming the new year ...

Who would have thought that Malaysia would experience earthquake tremors! I'm glad the impact to Malaysia is minimal. We've been watching the news here and feel really sad for those experiencing devastation.

I thought we were more unsafe to be in Cyclone district, but compared to an earthquake tsunami that hits without any warning, I'd take a tornado warning anyday.

Keep safe everyone, and keep the victims in your prayers!

Yeah, my younger uncle (my dad's younger brother) called my Sitiawan home to confirm if there were any complications around the seas of Manjung district....whoa....he was somewhere near Taiping when he called - and that was 27/12 - but still I did not feel a thing (tremor to say) on that fateful 26th.....

hi,

yeah, it's scary to think Malaysia can be affected by the aftermath of earthquakes. no place is safe, eh?

my aunt from penang invited us to spend christmas with them. they are in the tanjung bungah area. if we had gone, we'd have stayed in those hotels nearby. but we never had intention of going as we had plans in KL already. phew. :)

ok, i arrived in US as of yesterday. still feeling woozy but getting in sync with the time here. sorry, i couldn't see anyone of you guys. been busy running errands, etc. wish i can come back again soon. heh heh.

take care.
