Have never been a fan of the Manures, but being a football fan I must admit that being down 2-0 away and scoring 4 goals in 30 + mins, is good. well done, looks like chelski are out. we will try to bungkus them this week.

Socka,

Welcome to do say whatever...

I hate to say this - but looking thru' all your comments about Man Utd - YOU must either be: -

(a) a de facto Man Utd fan in disguise;or

(b) You like ManUtd and would rather support them to "Efficient" Chelsea, "Boring-Boring" Arsenal or "Boring+Lucky" Pool BUT since your hated Mother-In-Law (or whoever) supports ManUtd, you have no choice but begrudgingly support other team which you don't quite like either...; or

(c) You simply like ManUtd and their superb style of play, or the mega superstars in the team since Best, Robson, Cantona, Beckham and now the one and only Cristiano Ronaldo.... hehehe...

Maybe it won't be 4 goals this time... Knowing Man Utd, it might just be 6.. or maybe 7...

I think even at 4 goals per game, it'll take teams like Pools or Chelsea easily 2-3 games to reach that figure...

First half: raining heavily (affects tempo). I can't remember a single instance ManUtd did well during rainy games

Second half: missed chances. Fletcher should have done better. Had it been Ole, it's definitely behind the net. SAF needs new strikers now to partner Rooney.

In the end, Man Utd simply ain't good enough against an effective Milan team.

Too many players went "missing" on the important night like this... :sad-2: despite having the same amount of shots at goal with ACMilan and dominated the game 52% vs. 48%.

yee keong
05-03-2007, 09:56 AM
Man U passing is crap, and Milan is dominating the midfield, with Kaka and Seedorf and Gattuso in almost every midfield encounters. Man U midfield and defense looks like kids playing the first time in big matches, cannot even hold and pass the ball properly. Rooney is almost unheard of until the 2nd half. Saha should have been introduces earlier, and Man u should have gone 4-4-2 instead of this modified 4-3-3 (or is it really 4-5-1) formation.....

Milan deserved this win, and should haven gotten more than just 3 goals..

No doubt, MU were outclassed by AC last night. every MU player were to be blamed for such poor display.

Kaka, Seedorf and Gatuso was the destroyer last night. AC deserved to be in the finals. They went all out to win. The rain help them as well. MU couldn't match them. :(

Rafa better think of a strategy to face AC in Athens. I m sure AC is out for revenge and for sure AC will win the CL this year in full time. No doubt! Good luck to Pool in the finals, you really need it.

Conclusion - Pool will be left with nothing to shout about this year. Pure class but boring - only got runner-up winners medals for display this. Better keep in a proper safe, if not someone will steal it. hehe!

MU will bounce back, and still got the double to look forward to... EPL is 90% MU's and the FA Cup is coming soon.

Ronaldo honoured by football writers
Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo has been voted Footballer of the Year by the Football Writers' Association.

United's star attacking talent topped the journalists' poll ahead of Chelsea striker Didier Drogba.

Ronaldo's Old Trafford team-mates Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes were third and fourth respectively.

It caps a superb season for the Portugal international, who also collected both the PFA Player and Young Player of the Year trophies.

Number 3 for Ronnie, Congrats Kampung Boy!!

Terry to lead guard of honour for United

Chelsea captain John Terry is ready to give Manchester United a guard of honour as champions even though he knows it will be hard to stomach.

The Blues were shown similar respect when they won the title and Terry knows it was a difficult thing to do for some of United's players.

After Chelsea's failure to beat Arsenal on Sunday, United will arrive at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night as champions and Terry is ready to return the compliment.

He declared: 'The manager has said already they will get the guard of honour which they did to us at Old Trafford.

'Looking at some faces, it could not have been nice. We have to go through that and we fully respect them as players and individuals. We will do that holding our heads up high.'

Reds eye summer swoop for Eto'o
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has reportedly taken the first steps towards signing Samuel Eto'o for £27million this summer.

According to reports, Ferguson has identified the Barcelona striker as his number one transfer target as he begins his quest for three major signings in the close season.

It is understood Israeli agent Pini Zahavi, who has links in Barcelona, is behind the deal while Eto'o's friendship with Rio Ferdinand is also a factor in United's favour.

Only last week the United boss spoke of his desire to add more pace to his attack and the Cameroon international clearly fits the bill.

Eto'o has been unsettled at the Catalan giants since his fall-out with coach Frank Rijkaard and Brazilian star Ronaldinho after he returned from four months out with a knee injury. At the time he was accused of refusing to play and wounds between the trio have never fully healed.

In recent weeks however, Eto'o has let his football do most of the talking having scored 10 goals in his last 14 games and this kind of form has sparked interest from a host of European clubs.

Assuming Ferguson manages to also land Bayern Munich's Owen Hargreaves for £20million, United will have spent nearly all of their summer budget of £50m on just two players.

I guess if Eto comes to MU then Saha will leave.. What a pairing with Rooney, better than Berbatov lor. + Owen in midfield.:D

Fergie 'certain' of Milan victory

Sir Alex Ferguson has all but written off Liverpool's Champions League chances and is backing AC Milan to win the final in Athens on May 23.

The Manchester United boss taunted his Premiership rivals by saying he plans to toast the Italian club's victory with a bottle of wine given to him by opposite number Carlo Ancelotti after Milan knocked United out at the semi-final stage last week.

"I'd bet for sure that Milan will win the Champions League. I'm absolutely certain of it," Ferguson said in The Sun.

"I said to Carlo at the end of our semi-final that there is no way he can now not win this competition," Ferguson added.

"Carlo gave me a magnificent bottle of wine.

"But I immediately told him I would only drink his win once I see him lifting the Champions Cup."

Ferguson admits he was in awe of Milan's performance in the semi-final second leg at the San Siro, which his side lost 3-0.

"Milan's second-leg victory over us was stupendous, fantastic and extraordinary," Ferguson said.

"I'm still trying to analyse the factors involved. But the truth remains we faced one of the best performances in the history of AC Milan."

Malaysia PM insists Man Utd fixture will go ahead

KUALA LUMPUR, May 11 (Reuters) - Malaysia will defy the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and host Manchester United in July, Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi insisted on Friday.

The AFC had angered Malaysians earlier this week by ruling out a United friendly tour match in Malaysia because it would clash with its flagship tournament, the July 7-29 Asian Cup.

Banking on their huge fan base in Asia, United had been due to play in Kuala Lumpur against a Malaysian select team on July 27, two days before the Asian Cup final in Jakarta.

The match had looked to be off when the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) bowed to AFC pressure and said United were no longer welcome.

However, the Malaysian Prime Minister joined in the fray on Friday, telling reporters the game would go ahead as scheduled.

"We want them to visit Malaysia because this year is Visit Malaysia Year... if Manchester United play in Kuala Lumpur, there will be a lot of Manchester United fans around this region, including from Singapore and Thailand, coming here."

"We hope the organisers will not cancel the game. This is the wish of the government as part of Visit Malaysia Year," he said.

Minister backs United tour
Sports Minister Datuk Azalina Othman Said has urged the AFC to reconsider their opposition to Manchester United's planned visit to Malaysia.

The Premiership champions and are scheduled to play a Malaysian Select XI on July 27 in Kuala Lumpur as part of a 10-day tour of Asia, but the game clashes with the Asian Cup, which will be co-hosted by Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam and Thailand until July 29.

FIFA president Sepp Blatter has backed AFC president Mohamed Hammam's call for the game to be rescheduled after the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) signed an agreement with the AFC which states no other event would be promoted during the Asian Cup and three days after.

"It is with a heavy heart that I have noted that the AFC had decided at its recent congress not to sanction the friendly match between a Malaysian Selection and Manchester United on July 27 at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil," Azalina told The New Straits Times.

"I understand and fully respect the decision and reasons behind AFC's stand, but I would have expected a little more compassion, especially from AFC president Mohamed Hammam, who is close a friend of FA of Malaysia president Sultan Ahmad Shah and Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad.

"Malaysians are passionate football fans and I do not believe that United's one match here is going to jeopardise the turnout for the Asian Cup Finals."

United are also scheduled to play J-League champions Urawa Red Diamonds on July 17, FC Seoul on July 20 and Shenzhen FC on July 23.

Yeah, MU lifted the EPL cup at Old Trafford last night. :D

MU played safe the whole game. I guess everyone of the team members wanted to be scratch free for the next weekend game at Wembley. West Ham threw everything in to win the game which they desperately needed. Tevez scored the winnner. 0-1 is the final score.

Congrats to West Ham and Wigan for scraping it thru into next season premiership. Too bad for Sheffield United.

Man Utd's Malaysia match back on

AFP
May 14, 2007
KUALA LUMPUR (AFP) - Malaysian football authorities on Monday reversed a decision to cancel the Kuala Lumpur leg of Manchester United's Asian tour in July, saying it was back on.

The decision followed intervention from Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi who gave his support to the match which was called off last week after pressure from the Asian Football Confederation and FIFA.

"The FAM respects the statement by the prime minister of Malaysia that the Manchester United tour should go on as planned to be part of the celebration for Malaysia's 50th anniversary" of independence, the Football Association of Malaysia said in a statement.

The body faces the wrath of AFC president Mohammed bin Hammam and his FIFA counterpart Sepp Blatter who have led efforts to have the July 27 match dumped as it clashes with the Asian Cup finals which are co-hosted by Malaysia.

"FAM will probably face consequences from FIFA and the AFC, but we are hoping to negotiate and appeal to them to sanction Man United's tour here in consideration of Malaysia's 50th anniversay," the statement added.

Bin Hammam was travelling back from Canada to Kuala Lumpur and was not immediately available for comment.

The AFC fear the presence of such a big club in the region during the Asian Cup finals from July 7-29 will divert attention from what is the continent's flagship football competition.

FAM deputy president Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, who is also an AFC vice-president, earlier sided with bin Hammam but changed tack on Monday.

"We have no objection to the match," he told a press conference.

Asked where FAM's loyalties lay, he answered: "The government of course. We are Malaysians and we have to be with the government."

On Saturday, Abdullah said seeing Manchester United in action was what all Malaysians wanted.

"All Malaysians will enjoy the game. I don't think we should reject this (tour). I hope they (AFC) understand this," he said.

United plan to kick off their pre-season commercial tour against J-League champions Urawa Red Diamonds on July 17 in Saitama before travelling to the South Korean capital for a showdown with FC Seoul on July 20.

Alex Ferguson's team then head to Macau for a match against Shenzhen on July 23, before ending the tour in Kuala Lumpur on July 27 against a Malaysian XI.

Disappointing night for Man Utd by losing in the last minute of ET. Drogba killed the game.:( Could have gone either way but Chelsea was lucky to have their last flick on target. Cech was on form to deny few great chances. First half was played with so much safety. Giggs was denied a goal when the ref waved play on eventhough the ball pass the goal line with Cech clinging on it.

Well at least MU took the Premiership title and I believe the EPL title is more important to any EPL team than the FA cup. Could have made the double but it was not to be. Congrats to Chelski and moanrinho (i guess his job is safe for now)

I believe next season will be more exciting for MUFC with new top players joining + the young players getting better playing as a team!!

The Good News!!

Hargreaves joining Man Utd, says Beckenbauer

England midfielder Owen Hargreaves looks to have finally sealed his move to Manchester United from Bayern Munich.

Bayern president Franz Beckenbauer confirmed the 26-year-old would be leaving the club for a fee of around £17million after a season-long pursuit by the Premiership champions.

'Owen Hargreaves will go,' Beckenbauer told the DFB-Doppelpass programme on German TV on Sunday. 'It's also the wish of the player.

'Everything is right and it is also financially right,' continued Beckenbauer.

Asked if reports about the size of the fee were true, he said: 'It will be around that size.'

United agree double deal for Nani and Anderson

Manchester United have scored a major summer transfer coup by swooping for highly-rated Portugal-based duo Anderson and Nani.

Most of the best clubs in Europe, including Chelsea and Real Madrid, have been linked with one of the pair at some stage over the past few months.

But a flying visit to Portugal by Red Devils chief executive David Gill and Sir Alex Ferguson's assistant Carlos Queiroz has proved exceptionally fruitful.

Fees have been agreed with the players' respective clubs - FC Porto and Sporting Lisbon - and personal terms have also been sorted out.

All that remains are the medicals and, in Anderson's case, a work permit, before the formal conclusion of the transfers are announced.

With a deal to sign Owen Hargreaves from Bayern Munich virtually done and dusted as well, Ferguson has not allowed the grass to grow under his feet since United were crowned champions earlier this month.

Ferguson suggested he was after at least three new players to bolster his squad.

But no-one expected him to act so quickly, with the overall fees for all three men likely to exceed the £40million mark, the first major cash splurge since Malcolm Glazer's controversial buyout almost two years ago.

'Manchester United is delighted to announce it has agreed terms in principle with FC Porto and Sporting Lisbon for the purchase of the registrations of Anderson and Nani,' said a club statement.

'Personal terms have been agreed and a formal announcement will take place once the necessary administrative procedures, including medicals, have been completed.'

Anderson has been one of the most sought-after young talents in the game since he was crowed player of the tournament in the 2005 World Under-17 Championships.

The Brazilian teenager, who has established himself as one of the best attacking midfielders in the Portuguese League, has been named by national coach Dunga in a preliminary squad for this summer's prestigious Copa America.

United have been tailing Nani for some time but appeared to have been thwarted in their attempts to sign him when it was suggested the 20-year-old was ready to extend his stay with Sporting.

However, the proposed contract remained unsigned, allowing Ferguson to step in and snap up the Portugal international.

Ferguson will cross his fingers and hope his new arrivals enjoy the same kind of success as the last player he signed from Portugal, footballer of the year Cristiano Ronaldo.

Their arrivals should certainly help Ronaldo feel at ease, particularly if the winger's friend Gabriel Heinze is sold this summer as expected.

It is certainly an astute piece of business by Ferguson, who realises two of his main attacking stars, Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes - while outstanding this season - are reaching the end of their careers.

With Hargreaves on board as well and the likelihood of a big-name striker being signed, United have signalled a statement of intent for the new campaign.

All the new arrivals will make their bows on the club's pre-season Far East tour.

GGMU!! One more top strikers to buy:D

Red Devils in hunt for Fab Samp star

Sampdoria striker Fabio Quagliarella could join Premier League champions Manchester United this summer, according to the player's agent.

The Italy international is one of the hottest forwards in Serie A and is believed to be a target for several elite European clubs.

"One month ago, Manchester United made a £10million offer," claimed Quagliarella's agent, Silvio Pagliari. "We believe Fabio is worth between 15 to 20 million euros (£10-13million), hence if the English club's offer still stands, he could probably go abroad."

Quagliarella joined Samp last summer from Ascoli, although his sporting rights are co-owned by both the Genoa outfit and Udinese.

The 23-year-old made 35 league appearances for Sampdoria last season, scoring 13 goals.

His performances earned him a call-up to the national team, and earlier this month he scored his first two goals for the Azzurri during Italy's 2-0 Euro 2008 qualifying win against Lithuania.

Barca offer Gud deal to United

Manchester United may finally land Eidur Gudjohnsen, with Barcelona ready to offer him as part of a deal to take Gerard Pique to the Nou Camp.

Barca have been tracking Pique, who spent the season on loan at Real Zaragoza, ever since United signed him from under their noses three years ago.

The defender, then 17, was playing for the Catalans' youth team when United took him to Old Trafford and Barca have been trying to get him back ever since.

Now, with Sir Alex Ferguson in the hunt for a striker, Barca are willing to offer Gudjohnsen as part of a deal to land the Spaniard.

They will expect money as well but Ferguson may be tempted to go for a player he has tracked ever since his Bolton days.

The 29-year-old has a fantastic record in the Premier League and may welcome a move back to England, with Barca seemingly deeming him surplus to requirements.

Giuseppe Rossi will be a direct replacement for our Baby Face Assassin , OG Solskjaer; so do not worry... Man Utd will keep him..

Man Utd policy have always been recruiting young talent. Usually, it costs a hell of a lot of money but in the long run, it's cheap.

Take Rooney or Rio Ferdinand @ 30 Million Pounds each as example... Over 10 years "shell-life", it'll cost ManUtd 3 Millions Pounds Per Year.. + final re-sale value of maybe 2-3 Million give-aways..

Therefore, CRonaldo @ 12.24 Million Pounds is a real bargain! Giuseppe Rossi and Gerrard Pique? Now, you are laughing...

Anderson handed United work permit

Manchester United have been boosted by the news £18million Brazilian midfielder Anderson has been granted a work permit.

The club initially had an application for a permit knocked back for the 19-year-old on the grounds Anderson does not have enough international caps but United on Friday won an appeal against that decision.

It means the attacking midfielder, who signed from Portuguese side FC Porto last month, will be part of the United squad for next season.

The club said in a statement: "Manchester United is pleased to confirm that the club has been successful in its application for a work permit for Anderson."

United's representatives attended a Home Office panel of experts on Thursday where they argued that due to his exceptional talent he should be granted a work permit and that only his youth had prevented him from obtaining the requisite number of international caps.

Indeed, Anderson only made his full international debut for Brazil in the early hours of Thursday morning in the Copa America match against Mexico.

Yeah, that guy look like the younger version of Val Kilmer (the actor). Van Persie once got into trouble in Holland when a chick cried raped and took him to court. Poor fella.

I am sure James will have something to say about his looks??

Frankly speaking, matter of time VP will be a star but not sure if he has quit his hectic night life or not.

Adebayor sucks...

What about Tevez for Man Utd? It seems that he turn down the opportunity to play for Inter Milan?? Joking or what??

Hah! Darren Bent sold to Spurs for 16.5 million pound?? Does he worth so much. I don't think so... then I think Berbatov can leave Spurs and play for Man Utd.

Smithy (valued at 6.5 mill - good. sell him fast!!) , Heinze (so sad if he leaves for Real Mad) and Richardson (yahoo!! at last he is leaving) is on the way out of OT.

So many rumours of players coming to Man Utd :
1) Michael Omen (Owen)
2) Gudjohnsen
3) Jermaine Defoe
4) Carlos Tevez

Who's next??

Arsenal would be bankrupt next season...not financially but due to in-fighting... :amazed:

VP raping a chick in Holland???? Good looking and talented boy... too bad... maybe his name ought to be Van P---y............

Don't care who come, who go lah... Just hope Man Utd sapu everything next season.... GGMU!!!!

Wayne Rooney is changing his United squad number from 8 to 10 for the forthcoming season and beyond.

To mark the switch, Wayne met probably the club's greatest ever number 10, Denis Law for a special photograph at Carrington.

"When I was offered the chance to wear the number 10 shirt I jumped at it," says Wayne.

"Some of the game's greatest players have become legends wearing number 10, none more so than Denis Law.

"He was crowned King of the Stretford End during his time at the club and it is a great honour for me to wear a shirt that has such history behind it."

Rooney's manager Sir Alex Ferguson believes Wayne is a worthy addition to the roll-call of players who've worn the iconic red shirt.

"There have been some wonderful footballers who have worn the Manchester United number 10 shirt," says Sir Alex.

"These men have captured the imagination of our fans around the world with their skill and their goals. Wayne is the right man to carry on that tradition and I'm delighted that Denis Law was able to pass on the mantle."

United have yet to confirm who will replace Rooney at number 8, or which numbers will be worn by new signings Nani, Anderson and Owen Hargreaves.

So still left jersey No 8, 12 and 17 to be filled. I wonder what Jersey No. will SAF offer to his three new players?

Rafa plans shock swoop for Heinze

Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez is planning an audacious swoop to hijack Juventus' £5million move for Manchester United left-back Gabriel Heinze

The 29-year-old is currently on international duty with Argentina at the Copa America and was expected to tie up his move to Juve upon returning.

However Benitez has now registered his interest in Heinze and the Anfield boss could pull off the deal if he is prepared to pay the Red Devils' asking price.

Heinze is said to be happy in the north-west and would welcome the chance to stay in the area, although he may not want to risk the wrath of United's fans by joining their fierce rivals.

He said of the interest in him: "My head is with the Argentina team to play the Copa America.

"After that and a holiday, I will know better where I will play next season."

Benitez has struggled to find a regular left-back for Liverpool and reportedly sees Heinze, no longer first-choice at Old Trafford, as the ideal candidate to fill the role

You Heinze will go to Anfield?

Blow for Rafa as Heinze hopes hit

Liverpool's hopes of landing Gabriel Heinze have been hit after he admitted he wants to move to Italy or Spain if he leaves Manchester United.

Reports at the weekend suggested Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez had registered his interest in the Argentina international and was preparing a £7million swoop.

But left-back Heinze, who is currently at the Copa America in Venezuela, appeared to rule out a switch to United's Premier League rivals by revealing his desire to join Italian side Juventus or Spanish giants Real Madrid or Barcelona.

He also admitted he would be happy to stay at Old Trafford where he insists his life is "perfect".

He is quoted in the Manchester Evening News as saying: "The good thing is the clubs which are being talked about are super clubs. I already play for one super club and other ones such as Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus have been mentioned.

"For me to go, the offer has to be good for everyone. I'm very comfortable in Manchester. I've been a champion, captain and the fans love me. Everything is perfect

Lets keep our finger crossed that Heize will not leave OT...

United have unveiled their new home kit ahead of the new season.

A giant image of the team in the new Nike-produced kit adorns the East Stand window at Old Trafford. The players will wear it for the first time during their first match of their Asia Tour against Urawa Red Diamonds in Japan later this month.

The front of the new home shirt features an engineered mesh pattern inspired by the architecture of Old Trafford and the contours of the body. On the back a flash of white tape frames the name and number with a fine black stripe, MUFC and the Red Devil emblem inside. As a final touch there is a label with the Red Devil emblem and the nickname 'The Red Devils.' White shorts and black socks complete the kit.

It has been made using Nike Dri-FIT fabric which helps transport moisture away from the skin to the fabric’s surface for rapid evaporation, keeping the players comfortable for longer. It's already a popular design with the squad and they believe the fans will be equally impressed.

check out the webisite myspace.com/manutd to see more images and a behind-the-scenes video from the kit shoot with the players.

Yeah, Tevez will cost MU £20million if permanent transfer.

Richardson seals Sunderland switch

England winger Kieran Richardson has completed his move from Manchester United to Sunderland for an undisclosed fee, believed to be £5million. The 22-year-old signed a four-year contract with the Wearsiders after successfully coming through a medical on Monday morning. He could now make his Black Cats debut in Wednesday's friendly with Darlington.

At last, Richardson is SOLD. Good money for MU.

I hope Heinze won't leave OT. :(

Tevez agent said that Tevez saga will be settled out of court and Tevez will be registered as MU player by next week. Lets hope this dispute will be put to rest ASAP and let MU prepare for the season opening.

The Asia Tour is over and now the team is back in UK. Nani played well in his debut and the second game. Scored 1 each in both games. Look like he will do well. Damn, check out his somersault celebration after scoring his first goal. then kena warning from SAF to stop that act so to protect the injured ankle he is nursing. Rooney and Ronaldo scored a brace of goals. Both look very sharp. I enjoyed the 3rd game vs Shenyang at Macau. 6-0 thrashing, fluid game with rooney and ronaldo menacing at the goal mouth.

Lee Martin & Chris Eagle played well during the tour, both score 1 each. Dong did not impress. Alan Smith sucks big time. I guess it is time for him to go. Pool want him or not??

All look good for the start of the new campaign.

Chelsea looks like there are bleeding now, most first team players are still injured especially John Terry - he will be out for a month. Good news to ALL.

Anyway Moanrinho is still confident to win the EPL...

Now, Nani pushed the start button.

After a few more games, our opponents will feel EPL is boring again with MU winning everything..

Manchester United striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is set to retire on Tuesday after admitting defeat in his long-running battle with knee injuries.

The Norwegian forward, who scored the winner in the Champions League final against Bayern Munich as United won the treble in 1999, made several comebacks in the last four years but has failed to fully overcome the problem.

And according to The Sun, the 34-year-old - who has not appeared in any of United's matches so far this season - will finally admit defeat in his long-running battle with injury and call it a day.

Solskjaer's last game was the FA Cup final defeat to Chelsea on May 19 when he came on as an extra-time substitute at Wembley.

He has already spent time at United coaching young players as he looks forward to life after his playing career.

Solskjaer, dubbed the 'Baby-Faced Assassin', joined United from Molde for £1.5million in 1996 and has firmly established himself as a hero at Old Trafford.

He scored 11 goals as the Red Devils reclaimed their Premier League crown last season.

The former Norway international has made 366 appearances under Sir Alex Ferguson over the years, scoring 126 goals.

He was appointed a club ambassador last year - a role he is expected to continue and develop - and could well be given a long-term coaching position at the club he has served so loyally over the years.

The retirement of Solskjaer leaves Ferguson with only three strikers - Wayne Rooney, Louis Saha and Carlos Tevez - the latter being the only one presently fully fit.[/I]

well i can only wish him all the best...its a disappointment not able to see him play again.....and he is a hero for MAN UTD....always will be :)

Yah, so sad to hear that Solksjaer is going to hang up his boots for good... but he will still be an important ambassador for MU in his coaching job.

Salute to the one and only 'Ole'

Manchester United striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed his retirement from football at the age of 34.

The Norwegian, who moved to Old Trafford 11 years ago and scored the winner in the 1999 Champions League final, has decided to step down after continuing problems with a knee injury.

Solskjaer will remain at the club in a coaching capacity and will represent Manchester United as an official ambassador.

Solskjaer said: "I would like to thank the manager, the coaching and medical staff and most of all the supporters, who have supported me through my career.

"They have been fantastic and were a real inspiration to me when I was out injured."

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Factfile

1973: February 26 - Born Kristiansund, Norway.

1995: Joins Molde from Clausenengen FK and scores 20 goals in 26 appearances in his first season. After representing Norway at Under-21 level he wins his first senior cap against Jamaica on November 22 and scores in the 1-1 draw.

1996: Joins Manchester United in a £1.5million move on July 29 after scoring 11 goals in 16 league games for Molde. Scores on his United debut against Blackburn on August 25 at Old Trafford after coming on as a substitute for David May.

1996-97: Finishes his first season in England as United's top league scorer with 18 goals and helps them retain the Premiership title.

1997: Manager Alex Ferguson rewards him with a lucrative seven-year contract.

1997-98: Was in and out of the side, mainly due to injuries, and managed only six league goals in his second season.

1998: Scored against Monaco in the quarter-finals of the Champions' League in March as United lost on the away goals rule. Sent off for a professional foul on Newcastle's Rob Lee in April. Played in France 98 as Norway reached the second round where they lost to Italy.

Good Bye Ole! Truly he's the 20LEgend! :(

It's a shame and absolute disgrace for players like Heinze to walk out when a player like Ole who brought so much more to the game actually choose to stick it out at Old Trafford.

Thanks for the memories and also loads of goals (including the ones he put behind Pools and the Germans in the same season..)

Yes, it is a shame on Heinze. That fella has no gratitude nor loyalty for all SAF and MU has done for him. SAF was patience with him in the first season to let him complete his National duties before joining the team and also during his injuries day. He was once a hero at OT but now no more respect for him.

Ronaldo will be back this weekend, Rooney will be on the bench as his injury has healed faster than predicted so now it is just his fitness. Giggs might be back too.

More firepower this weekend with Ronaldo on the flanks supporting Tevez and Saha upfront. Can't wait to see Tevez score his first for MU.

Vidic the saviour, scored at the 83rd minute... yahoo!! I tot the game was heading for a draw.

No sign of Rooney tonite, Saha was on the bench?? Poor Silvestre tonite, looks like a bad injury on his ankle. Lucky MU got cover for him. More bad news, Fletcher and O'Shea came back injured from International duty... Will be out for a month.

Good news is Pool and Chelsea draw blanks tonite. Arse won tho 1-3 with Spurs.. Arse top the table, with Pool 2nd and MU 3rd. Chelsea remains in 4th spot.

This season EPL looks like it is going to be tight. Team to watch is Blackburn (still haven't lost a game and hold Chelsea 0-0 at Stamford Bridge), West Ham (won 3-0 tonite) and Aston Villa (beat Chelsea 2-0 last weekend). Maybe Man City and Newcastle will also be challeneing as well. The games are getting more and more difficult to predict nowadays....

GGMU!! lets get it going...

Yeah, Man City is another team to watch too. They win all their home games. Eriksson has so far proven that he is good at club football and with Thaksin's money he has build up a respectful team.

It will be indeed a very tight season this time. All teams will have to play well to survive.

Sad news is that Silvestre will be out for the season with knee ligament injury. Looks like Pique and Evans will step up to deputise the defence this season.

Lets hope Rooney partnership with Tevez will deliver starting this midweek game with Sporting Lisbon.

Yes, as predicted MU beat Sporting 1nil. Ronaldo scored the winning goal at the 62nd minute with a diving header. He was quite emotional after scoring against his old club. He was given a standing ovation when he was subsituted in the 84th min as it shows Sporting fans still love him very much.

Rooney played upfront with Ronaldo. Saha and Tevez was on the bench. Both came on late in the 2nd half. Nani started, Anderson came in as sub in 2nd half for Giggs.Van der sar was on form today with series of saves.

The field condition was horrible and chuck of grass coming up all over the pitch. I guess most players were very cautious as not to injured themselves. Very slow game in 1st half but MU up the tempo in the 2nd till they scored the winner.

First game and a win away for MU is good..

Roma won 2-0, Barca won 3-0, Arsenal won 3-0. Inter lost 0-1.

GGMU!! Next game vs Chelsea (without Moanrinho) at OT. No mercy for Chelsea this time. I guess the egg issue became scrabble already.

Yeah, you are right Elvin. MU won 2-0 against 10 men Chelsea.

Well even with 11 Chelsea men, MU would have still beat them. I guess this is the best time to play Chelsea. Avram does not look as classy as Mourinho. They played counter attack in second half and packed the defence. So boring... Looks like Chelsea need to dig deep to resolve their internal problems soon before it get worst. Anyway good for all of us tho.

I am very happy to see Tevez scored his first MU goal against Chelsea. He is a quiet front man that pounced unexpectedly. His goal made the difference and killed the game. Saha brought life into the game after he came in late to sub Tevez. Made and scored the penalty to make it 2-0 late in 2nd half. He could have scored again. he is now MU top scorer with 2 goals:eek:

Good week for MU, they now leap Pool and Man City to occupy 2nd spot in the league with 14 points. 2 points behind leaders Arsenal who has 1 game in hand... Sigh!! Arse are cruising man...
