I wonder how many ACS Alumni forumers studied or currently studying at Taylor's College (now upgraded to Taylor's University College)?

I was never a student at Taylor's but I have been working here since July 1995.

Do share you thoughts about your experience studying at Taylor's - the good and the bad ones...

Heem! Didn't know you have a college going daughter. Thank you for your support to Taylor's. (my salary and bonuses comes from your fee payment :D )

Good choice. SAM is the best selling programme at Taylor's. One year only got 1 intake in Jan. Still can get in 1200 students in one intake. Majority students studying Pre-Science. Some even enrol as early as Nov.

What is your daughter's subject options in SAM? I believe she just joined Taylor's in Jan 2007. What's next for her? Need some guidance in career pathway, do let me know, I can get my colleagues to assist her.

Hi Quinz

A lot of study work is good - value for money... no play play.. :)

Good idea on the escalators part - noted. If we add that in, we will have to increase the tuition fee, hehe!! your mummy will not be happy then.. Climbing up the stairs are good exercise eh!!

Are you staying at My Place Apartments (college accommodation)? Convenient area right, next to the college, plenty of f&b areas to hangout like Asia Cafe... starbucks, coffee bean etc..

OK, I won't black list you. I will just inform Mrs Hoe Li Lin to keep an eye on u...

eeeeekkkk! .....mommyyyy!!!!!......:p .......well ok....can except the exercise part....but another thing that needs attention is the internet connection over in the college.....super sloooooowwwwww.......we use it often during breaks to look/download infos for our assignments, so it's really frustrating watching the snail do the 100m dash! :squeeze: ...eerr no need to ask Mrs Hoe to keep an eye on me again for this......so if the college intends to attract more foreign students, imagine their frustrations as well.....

Heem!! I wonder what happened to the internet. The network at my campus in PJ works fine. connection is fast. BTW, the network is TCSJ is very canggih one and should work much faster and efficient at all time. Taylor's network strictly does not allow chatting and msn so that it will not slow down the connection. Quinz should inform ICT dept about the connection so that they can rectify the prob. This issue can be solved very fast.

Wah!! you talk like a super senior person. Actually Aussie is still cheaper than UK due to the exchange but pretty competitive now with US fees. I guess still many malaysians prefer to complete their studies in Australia either direct or twinning programme.

If you want to get discount to study at Taylor's, then PM me lar, preparing for you children already is it??

you cannot really blame these people... when they have money, they spend it... when they spend it, they get stereo-typed...

when a college kid gets $1000-$2000 a month to spend in kl, some people think they are getting too much, while some people think that's not enough. it's all relative...

Wah liau, RM740 for accommodation in Jkt, that is very expensive lar. Did they throw in a maid for you as well? hehe!! So you see the cost of living in KL is actually not that expensive right? Even RM1k also you can't survive in Indo.

My friend, it is just your impression about college life in the big city but it is not so true lah. It will depend on individual lifestyle. Some like to party and some like to concentrate on their studies cos they want to get into good unis abroad after their Pre-U studies at Taylor's.

Pre-U Studies at Taylor's are always very competitive as we attract SPM high achievers to join us. 70% of our students are studying sciences. Our track records has proven that we produce top students who are then absorb into good ivy league unis.

Heem!!, I guess you should ask Quinz about her studies at Taylor's. I think she is the studious type!! :D

Hello brother, when you were in college that was like 17 years ago. If your allowance was RM1K per month at that time, you would have live like a King and could have tons of girlfriends clinging onto you lor... At that time RM250 was enough to live comfortably.

actually its partially my fault la.. cos i opted to stay in this sort of hostel-hotel place where i live in a single room with aircond and attached bathroom together with internet and laundry services... one month already RM 740!! So left RM 260 for meals.. u think enuf?

im in central jakarta leh... the indons here are not exactly that poor... one of my seniors punya bungalow, behind got private golf course!

I think that's for the rich and elite Indonesian onli..So don't complaint....In India 15 years ago...We stayed in 2 rooms house....with own air con...no internet....with maid for washing, cook and I need....500 onli per month...That one some more got good people go back BBC and canon saying we live like king....They satying in hostel eating hostel food onli 250 per month....But I told my parents....U come lah...I will feed U the hostel food.....1 day also cannot stand.....vegetarian.....:D

im not complaining... but merely pointing out that nowadays RM 1k is just enough to live comfortably in cities like KL, jkt... and yea, we dont live like kings like u all think.

but still i think living costs in jkt is higher than kl! cos prior coming to jakarta, i spent one year in the no-pork city of shah alam and when i was there spent around RM 500 monthly only but of course thats bcos i didnt have to pay for rent... hmm...

loctor, my manipal friends are getting mess food and they say its cheap and nice wo.. but my belgaum punya jawarhal-smthg-nehru punya friends there complain their food like hell la.. vegetarian and all sorts of curry and their vege is anything but green...

I'm an ex-taylorian. i'm from class of 95 and if i'm not mistaken, quite a few from my year studied there too. it was the first year they implemented the American Degree Program and another ex-classmate of mine joined the program.

In fact, the group from my year who studied at Subang area (Taylor's, Inti, Metro) was quite big.

But now i think the cost of living there is very high now right? last time, we could get enomony rice with 3 dishese at less than RM2 and our cost of living was around RM300-400 per month.

OK, so you were the first batch of ADP students.. Which US uni did you transfer to? I believe in 1995, ADP was offered at our Subang Jaya Main Campus. Now ADP has their own campus in SJ few blocks away from the main campus.

Still can get white rice and 2 vege lar in Subang Jaya area!! hehe!!

Cost of living everywhere in KL is the same. In SJ they do cater for student's budget as well due to the student population there. Most cafes and outlets in SJ who have special discounts 10% to 20% for Taylor's students.

U sure jstanly?...and from where?...cos' Quinz said the cheapest
is RM3.50. The main campus' new canteen doesn't serve good
cheap food, in fact the campus next door, Inti, have better
and cheaper food. Neither is Quinz aware of such discounts

Heem!! I wonder why?? ;) normally you just show the Taylor's student ID card to get discounts at certain restaurants, fastfood outlets and cafes around SJ.

Normally Inti students will cook themselves and Taylor's students don't:p

Ok, let me check with my colleagues over at our Subang campus and let you know OK. Normally places with student discounts will cost slightly higher than normal hawker stalls :cheesy:

Our canteen contract caterer tutup kedai already since early this year, can't compete with Asia Cafe opposite Taylor's. So now our cafeteria is used for R&R for students.

Normally 1 decent meal would cost about RM3.50 to RM4.00 at Asia Cafe.
