The 2007 Faraday Lecture is Winning Formula (http://www.theiet.org.my/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=48&Itemid=36) - Technology in the Fast Lane

The Faraday Lecture was founded in 1924 to commemorate the life and work of Michael Faraday (http://www.iee.org/TheIEE/Research/Archives/ResearchGuides/MichaelFaraday.cfm). As a pioneer in the field of electricity and electromagnetism, his work laid the foundation for many of today's advances in technology. Over the past 75 years, the lectures have developed a tradition of presenting cutting edge technology in exciting and interactive format. Each lecture has explored a different aspect of electrical and electronic engineering with topics such as digital technology, communications, broadcasting and transport, highlighting the diversity and excitement in this high-technology profession.

The Faraday Lecture is organised annually by the Institution with the support of a sponsoring body and a team of four presenters, all young people working in the engineering field. It is billed as the UK's largest touring lecture and has a tradition of presenting cutting edge technology in exciting and interactive presentations.

The aim of the Faraday Lecture is to interest the public and young people in particular, in the world of engineering.

Pupils (14-16 years old) "When I experienced the Faraday Lecture I saw how engineers developed science and technology to improve my world and I will choose the right options to become an engineer"

Teachers "When I enabled myself and my students to experience the Faraday Lecture it was relevant and inspiring and will encourage them to continue to study my subject with enthusiasm, now and in the future, and I can capitalize on it in my teaching."
