okay so i'm biased towards the school band fund, it's not a pressing need but i feel that it's needed if the school band were to regain its glory days.

here's how i look at it

improve school band fund
get a winning band
win competition
get glory for school
get the school more noticed
then more donations will come in for the school..

i think secondary school needs at least returfing.

two areas, the large school field that's shared with the primary school..

second area is the quadrangle in front of the chemistry lab. looks like a dessert now..

and the formula has to work., i.e. a professional job has to be done since it's not an issue of just planting grass, but need to add in topsoil etc since its literally a desert now

haha eh can we have more detail on the upgrade for learning part...cause it's leading...so if that clinches it, what are we gonna do??

anyway..a few years back, i had this dream..haha.that when i was a multimillionaire, i'll donate like a lot of money to the school, to build a multi purpose auditorium, with classrooms on top of it, and sports field right at the roof...since there's a lack of land, the only way is to buildup :p

but that depends on a few factors

1) whether my passion for the school still remains when i'm older, or i've lost it or become more cynical
2) whether i'm a multimillionaire...

also thought of giving donation to the school band....but to discourage the band from being lazy (they still have to raise their own funds)...was thinking of a 1:1 or 2:1 donation ratio..i.e. they collect 1 dollar by themselves, a matching grant is provided...or they collect 2 dollars then a matching dollar is provided..

I would say each society in the school contributes in their own way. Red Cross members maybe standing by the roadside while you run pass. Never noticing them unless you fainted.

i totally agree here. i voted to upgrade learning aids for students, and those labs are the biggest things. i am all for upgrading the science equipments in the school. currently, they are laughingly deplorable. :(

i went thru primary school but dun really remember much of it so no lost feelings there... my sis was playing flute in band but other than dat no lost feelings there either... n frankly i've erased all memories of our toilets cuz it's too traumatic so i dont really want to have anything to do with it, sorry...

I voted for giving both primary and secondary a new coat of paint.

I believe primary needs our help more than secondary. Besides, lets start with a simple thing first and also something that we can put our sweat into it.

Building new toilets is a noble idea but it will be too much hassle to get drawings ready, hire contractor, etc etc. Maybe can do that as the next step after we have completed the 1st step first.

a thought just occured to me,

instead of just talking about paint, which is really aesthetic, y not we look and see the condition of the tables and chairs there? also whether the classes have sufficient fans etc, or whether they want to change it to whiteboard (like in secondary school)

because i think the tables and chairs are in horrid condition as it probably went through many hand me downs...then maybe we can replace them?

for example, for the primary 1 and 2 students maybe we can get the ikea plastic chairs which are more durable and can last longer? similarly plastic table? i'm sure with such colourful things aroudn the students will enjoy them more, then we wrap the tables with the book wrapper so that even if they wanna conteng our tables are still pristine..

and then get Mr Moses Tay to sponsor our stay in Flamingo???

if all plans go..we need a COMITTEE to start off with and choose a good date..

u know d OFFICIAL acs forum dats just set up? y dun we join hands with them n cooperate on this year's acs forum(s) (plural... hahaha) gathering cum gotong royong. dat way, there are benefits :
- bigger labour pool (ahem!) for physical tasks eg carry tables & chairs, paint walls, clean toilets (just kidding!) etc
- higher fund raising capabilities eg unofficial forum tackle kl/pj areas while official forum target sitiawan/ipoh areas
- since they're based in s'wan (assuming most members/admin are still schooling), they can be our liason officer to arrange transport/materials etc
- chance to meet n get to know d ppl behind official forum

totally agree on d pathetic furniture...

i dunno wat ikea chair look like cuz i dont shop at ikea :( but i hope u're not talking bout restaurant-style plastic chairs cuz although it's light n durable, it looks cheap jatuh la image sekolah. haha...

Jolly good ideas, yours and T-wei....plastic chairs like IKEA's? maybe something that is dismantle proof.... we hav a set, pretty, but my kiddos can easily dismantle the legs and use as a blow horn amongst other things....
