I would like to ask all Sitiawanis out there with this question. If there is an opportunity for you to help a fellow Sitiawan friend make some money (irregardless of amount), would you or would you not take the extra effort and find out who among us, friends who can help you and make the sale?
In case, you are a bit blur. Let me give you an example. If you are planning to buy a Honda Civic, would you ask yourself, "who are friends who are dealing in cars"? If there is, would you let him/her make the sale and earn the commission? If not, why not?
All depends on the deal. Also...sometimes buying from friends gets difficult if something goes wrong and the friend that sold you don't care about your complaints...thus making the friendship sour. I think the bottom line is how much money "you" can save me.

Shortcow, I wouldn't mind taking the extra effort in seeking out ex-ACS sitiawans to help me provided that I am truly in the buying stage and not "persuaded" into buying...
But, I think at the end of the day, the element of trust must exist before this can happen.
daBoss, maybe we can open a forum for ex-ACS Sitiawans to "advertise" their products and services....

Yes, i agree with u that things can get into a jam when things go wrong, for instance the car we sold to a friend screws up big time than u expected. But this where the element of trust plays a bery very vital role. If I am selling my car to a friend, I would tell every damn thing that is good and bad about my car. so that he knows what to expect. If i dont, then I am no better than a low life used car salesman who is out for quick buck.
Why I am trying to say by posting this is that there is a lot of things that we can do for each other as Sitiawanis. Most of us are doing well, with a few doing extremely well and some slightly below average. Why cant we let some of our friends earn our money? We are gonna let somebody else earn ours anyway... some even kena slaugther and not even no it.
Most times, I found out that we not only dont think of our friends but we want to make sure our friend dont make so much. WHY IS THAT SO??? What kind of f*&% ing friend is that!!

I think if eveybody were to post their merchandise, then it will be lengthy and might be redundant. Thats where this forum becomes useful. Everybody need to be mindful abt this forum and its purpose that we are here for each other. Anybody have a need, post your need and see who knows who can help you or not. Also, available jobs in your company or your customer's place that might be suitable for some of us. who knows, yeah??
For me personally, if the savings is not that much, i would much rather buy from someone else. Its for the simple fact that if a deal goes wrong.....i find it easier to argue with a stranger rather than a friend. The same goes to relatives.
I have heard so many sad stories on how a friend/family got into disputes and never talk to each other again. There is also an element on how reliable and trustworthy the friend is too.

See? The element of trust comes to play. And not only that, openness towards each other also matter. If I sell something and that something screws up, I will be embarassed that it happened and I will rectify it at my costs, if need be. The sale need not have to be whether you gain a lot of savings or not.

sounds fair... i'll have a chat with the other mods and see if we should create a "ask for help" forum where you can post your requests... e.g. problems with you computer, selling your car, etc...

Yeah....trust is a big part. If a friend owns up to his claims then, surely i will buy from him. But what if he doesnt't? How??

if he doesnt own up, then he is not a worthy friend and you will an injunction to make wure that he doesnt even come close to you within a 100 metre. And you will only do business with him once and finito! However, b4 you give him/her the deal, tell him up front what u expect and what u will do if things dont go well.

Yes, if he puts it that way....i am willing to deal with him. But not second hand though. I never buy second hand from anyone!! :D
If after all the convincing and re-assuring, he still doesn't want to buy, i suppose you have every right to feel hurt, but you should still respect his decision.

In bold = Ghostie, I am so honored to have a friend like you.
Echoing shortcow's (one of the best friend you could ever get) point of view, I would say "SITIAWAN SOLIDARITY" goes a long way. But be prepared to get disappointed dealing business with friends (particularly Sitiawan friends). :)
Still, FRIENDS have priority in my list. :)
