Hey, before marriage, one would go all out to look good for each other, why should that change after marriage....

If wife is out of shape, then the husband should motivate n encourage her to get in shape and not ridicule or condemn her....

I guess dat can be a secondary reason...

Oh yes, in addition, by being attractive, a woman could possibly achieve the following:
1) the woman could possibly "attract" other man (sub-consciously) and thus will result in her hubby treating her better (in order to"fend" off the competition)
2) the woman could prevent the husband from "straying"

Both these 2 reasons might not be right reasons but nevertheless they are still reasons per se.

If she have tried her very best....then I guess I should not be upset...after all I guess the main reason that she got "out of shape" was due to the pregnancy, rite?

But really, if one tried hard enough, ie control the food intake with moderate exercise, one should be able to loose some weight....I am not asking for a drop dead super model figure..... :D

Well groomed does mean that to looks alone will do...
Personal hygiene is v important..
Nails must be clean..no body odour.. hair properly maintained.. face properly cleansed.. dressing .. etc..

answering your question,

my partner should want to be well groomed, not for my sake but her own. being well groomed should be something important to all of us as it reflects on ourselves very much. be it in work or in social circles, a well groomed person would definately command more respect than one who is shabby, with his/her hair uncombed, or even worse, has a funny smell emanating from his/her underarms.

then again, there is a very fine line defining well groomed and dressed to the nines. being well groomed simply means keeping oneself clean and presentable. one does not have to dress lavishly nor bathe in RM200 an ounce eau de parfum to be deemed well groomed, right?

being well groomed has nothing to do with being overweight (or underweight), nor is it dependant on one's financial status or social standing.

so is it important to me that my partner is well groomed? i would say that it was the initial impression that got me attracted to her, and by my standards then, she was acceptable/attractive. if somehow by some twist of fate, my gf suddenly decides to become a slob :D i will have to honestly say that i would be shocked. so my answer is, yes :D
