Hey i'm so confused right now.. i've being approached to be seconded to the International Marketing department for half a year and it's up to be if i want to continue with the job.

Obviously my current supervisor doesn't want me to go.. n she is so good, reallt flexible, i go home 1 hour early almost 1 everymonth.. my work time is pretty flexible here as well, late or leave early is ok.. she even gave us half a day off next week to do christmas shopping!! paid !!

Hmm .. i've decided.. i'm going to take it, just that as it is a secondment, my head of school has to agree to it.. not sure he will as from my supervisor's reaction, they don't want me to go.. if that happens, the job will be advertised internally and i'll just apply for it.. he's has already headhunted me and only has me in mind so pretty good chance that i'll get it unless the director found some other candidate better than me..

just that the first option of secondment gives me a better option, after 6 months if i don't like the job then i can always go back to my old one, while if i resign and take up the advertised one, then have to stick to it.. :squeeze:

i think it's great that you've decided on the Intl Mktg job..

as i've mentioned to you b4, i've worked with many ppl in that dept in other universities and found many of them lacking in understanding of the reasons why overseas students choose aussie unis over other countries..

having someone like you who has been thru the decision making process and gone thru aussie uni studies, makes you an invaluable asset to ANU..

maybe we'll meet one day at an aussie education fair in singapore.. i'm almost always there.. helping out where i can... esp around the QUT and UQ booths.. and also any of the student accomodation booths (UniLodge etc.).

fuuyoo... flexibility at work is a luxury cuz not many employers willing to give their staff freedom. treasure it while u still have it but if it's time to move on, so be it. int'l marketing sounds exciting n open up alot of possibilities if u're into dat type of environment. u're headhunted sumore, dats a sure sign d bargaining power is in ur hands to ask for extra job perks ya! ;)

i think it's great that you've decided on the Intl Mktg job..

as i've mentioned to you b4, i've worked with many ppl in that dept in other universities and found many of them lacking in understanding of the reasons why overseas students choose aussie unis over other countries..

having someone like you who has been thru the decision making process and gone thru aussie uni studies, makes you an invaluable asset to ANU..

i had been up to lotsa 'mischief' this long wknd. haha...y do i call it so? ada 'kerja' nak buat, but frust coz stuck in BP (cant even go labis coz of floods and all) so these are the highlights of my past wkn ;):

Fri eve: after class till 4+, went to hang banner for comm proj in rain holding umbrella sumore (supposed to go nx day oni), visit the health clinic in parit sulong, on the way back shopped a bit at ca4, and dinner wif the friend. haha...and to think that we did so much in that 4 hours. nvr have we chatted so much in the past almost 5yrs of knowing each other. and i was surprised at some Qs posed by my fren too, seems like 'someone' cares afterall :p
and all unscheduled at that too...life is indeed full of surprises!

Sat: The rain stopped in the morning, and by noon i was restless to 'waste' a rainless day (after god knows how long!) at home. so, i went summit in afternoon. check check digi-cam.inadvertently 'found' some cartoon stamps we've been looking for d comm proj. so, i made myself useful by helping them get those :D
one DSC on promo caught my eye! and that's when i started messaging frenz asking their opinion. the thing is, i've set myself the target of buying one by new yr 07, and i've been saving since seremban days mind u, tatz 2yrs+! so...shud i, shud i not? and i went to sleep that nite thinking of the cam...wud i have any regrets? is sony good? initially me looking for canon/olympus ma...not so pandai bout sony cams.
oh...i had a fall =( funny thing is jus 1/2hr earlier, my fren mess me replying query abt shud i purchase the stamps for comm proj, adding in 'be careful on the road. take care' - i was thinking he knows me too well, deducing i must have cycled all the way. why funny? i didnt like fall from bikey...but while walking!! malu tak..i was passing in front of these cars coming out from summit's parking lot, and lari-lari anak, to not make the driver wait too long for me, mana tahu...*bedebuk*, lucky i wore thick Jeans! else sure worse...some knee abrasion, minor bleed. but pain...*OUCH*. i took a few seconds b4 getting up, and my left arm seems to have become a lil twisted from the incident

on my way home, i went to summit again, coz while jln-jln in AH, i decided after all the input i've got, that i WILL purchase the cam. so THAT WAS THE XMAS + NEW YEAR GIFT i bought myself lo *grinning from ear to ear*
bets thing is, when the dealer took out a model for me, it was this sweet blue colour, all the workers were like 'wow' coz they themselves didnt know that colour was available...all went like 'u bertuah la' - hehehee

You'd be better off buying a Taiwanese brand.. for the same price as a Dell, you'll get better specs...

As for me, I bought a Compaq.. mostly becos at the time, they had the best specs for a sub $2k notebook..

is more expensive compared to Dell. Acer is not bad. I am using an Acer laptop and works pretty fine and cheap too.

wah these are higher end brands, i can buy if my budget go up to RM4k loh but unfortunately i only budget RM2k-2.5k.

Im not familiar with ASUS but i observed my lecturer use ACER, it was very impressive.

i have a fren dealing with BenQ products but unless he can gimme HUGE discount its not likely i can afford it. :(

my cousins use sony mp3 players and i nearly went for one myself...
however, i opted for an ipod nano this time round, for comparison...

in a lot of the way, i'm still not that crazy about techie stuff...
in an age of PDA, i love my filofax to bit and bring it everywhere with me...
in an age of mobile, i had had only 2 in the past 7 years or so, and change only because phone died...
in an age of digital camera, this is probably the only major splurge i have...
and even then it's not so major, as i'm still on compact and not SLR... :)

Hello hello everyone. Haven't really been logging in recently.

I don't think I can make it for the turtle trip in Redang. Just count me out for now. Sorry. I'll re-consider later on.

Ahem... ahem... I am suitably proud to announce that I just bought a condo yesterday in Kota Damansara. It's at the just soft-launched Cova Suites opposite Sri KDU school. My unit is on the 18th floor, unit 8. Hahhaha... (pure luck on getting the unit number :D). Its about 1100 sq feet with 3 rooms, 2 car parks, 3 airconds, 3 years maintainance free and 36 months defect liability period.

Best of all, I'm fully financing it on my own but alas it'll only be completed end of 2009.

I think I got myself a pretty good deal though I know there are significant negatives of a condo compared to a landed prop. Couldnt afford any of the landed properties in the area so had to make do with this.

So everyone in the 99 forum is invited to the house warming party... which is 3 years from now :D :P Actually I might just rent it out for all I know after that :D

i was really sick, then my uncle passed away, and then we had really bad storm last week so the whole university was closed from wednesday to friday, had no access to the computer. Last 2 weeks, i only worked for the total of 4 days.

It was hailling, 1 metre deep on the roads !! so hot and all this big ketuls of ice hailing down. really bad, my university was closed and just reopened today. 60 buildings in the campus were badly damaged, a lot of houses and commercial building damaged by it.

When i drove past at midday, about 30+ degrees, the whole soccer field was still white with all the hail/snow, piles and piles of the hail/snow on the side of the streets. Thank goodness, my house is ok, my office is fine, can't say the same for the rest of the building.

Hmm, Al Gore is pretty much all talk but no actions. Asking us to conserve energy but he himself using more than the average American househols uses in a year.

Gore's mansion, located in the posh Belle Meade area of Nashville, consumes more electricity every month than the average American household uses in an entire year, according to the Nashville Electric Service (NES).

Last August alone, Gore burned through 22,619 kWh--guzzling more than twice the electricity in one month than an average American family uses in an entire year. As a result of his energy consumption, Gore's average monthly electric bill topped $1,359.

Since the release of An Inconvenient Truth, Gore's energy consumption has increased from an average of 16,200 kWh per month in 2005, to 18,400 kWh per month in 2006.

Gore's extravagant energy use does not stop at his electric bill. Natural gas bills for Gore's mansion and guest house averaged $1,080 per month last year.

"As the spokesman of choice for the global warming movement, Al Gore has to be willing to walk the walk, not just talk the talk, when it comes to home energy use," said Tennessee Center for Policy Research President Drew Johnson.

woohoo! exciting but hectic. and all these trips are for work, except those with an asterisk* which are personal trips to be with my fiancee. =) kuala pilah is the place where she's been posted to teach in kolej matrikulasi negeri sembilan, and penang is her hometown.

though it's stressful at times, i really enjoy my work. and i doubt i'm ever as stressed out as, say, poor ahboh. =) so... will log in again when i can. ciao friends! =P
