Hey my partners in crime (for neglecting work & forumming =p)!
How’s everyone been doing la...missing u all loads.

But seems like its pretty quiet in here too. Guess everyone’s super buzy, right? Besides the necessary evils (posted in the other thread “Lava Gal, where are you”, I’ve been occupying myself by finally updating my holiday stories in my blog.

HEY! How come nobody told me that S’wan now has McD? Drive-in sumore. PUNDUT pulak tu. wahlow! I am still awed..haha. Tesco coming up next? CooL...really maju la.

Just to update, during this gap in time
- Ai Lee too has finished her course, and joined my ‘officially unemployed’ rank.
- Parvinder is now Mrs Sandeep. She did email me link to her photos...but erm, I don’t know what she’d say if I post the link here. Adele?
- My convo date has been fixed, 26th May ’07 @ Subang Sheraton Hotel. Rehearsal @ my BJ campus the day before. Pray that if I’ve started working by then, my boss will be kind enough to give me holidays lo – will need 2days. It’d be so chad if last minute something comes up & cant attend own convo, kan kan?

Now, pardon me for this mass messages, but no time to PM/email each person separately, sumore with my dial-up – arrrgh!!

Elaine> gal...did u watch d Zee TV awards? Live from genting’s arena of stars a few weeks back. I slept off the last bit, tak boleh tahan dee. But it was a disappointed Lavanya that went to bed that night, as Best Movie Award went to totally unexpected movie (on my part)!
So, the hottest bollywood news for now is Abiwarya wedding. FINALLY, these two are going to get married...Aish’s one of my favourite actresses.

Boh> Have u resumed classes, dear? Or still break-time. How did James exams go? (have to ask u coz he’s not a member here ma) Met our ex-schoolmate in ur office again??

Adele> Aloha!! Counting the days to ur escapede, deary? I’m not asking u anything as it’d be, “busy with work”. Just take good care, and dun kill urself with an overdose of work yea.

KCM, Reza > How’s work & life, guys?

Sieh Jin> Will RSVP soon, still got time right. Trying to get accommodation in Penang, if dapat, and if I’m not summoned to start work by MoH yet, will definitely attend ur Penang wedding. And that shall be my 1st church wedding.

Malc> Check ur e-mails. Will be mailing you further future articles to upload too. Arigato in advance.

Hey Lava, good to have you back !!

nope.. didn't watch the awards.. been pretty busy lately, last bolly movie i watched was the new umrao jaan by aish and abhy .. pretty good, which movie won? i didn't know about it

aish is one of my favs as well.. especially when it comes to period movies, she seems to look better in period movies, traditional clothes and classical dances except in Dhoom 2 when she was rocking.. kajol is my all time fav, and Rani as well.

fav actor, SRK and H. Roshan. + John abraham.. unfortunately Abhy is not as good as Big B. and hopefully this time, Abhy is going to get married unlike the time with Karishma.

Little girl and her father were crossing a bridge. The
father was kind of scared so he asked his little
daughter, sweetheart, please hold my hand so that you
don't fall into the river." The little girl said, "No,
Dad. You hold my hand." "What's the difference?" Asked
the puzzled father.

"There's a big difference," replied the little girl.
"If I hold your hand and something happens to me,
chances are that I may let your hand go. But if you
hold my hand, I know for sure that no matter what

chungming, i think your statement that such things are usually written or appreciated as a result of unrequited love is a sweeping generalisation that is probably not true.

rather, i'd say that such things are written out of the author's experiences of hurt, healing, betrayal, trust, fear, security and etc in relationships. and not necessarily only romantic relationships either: in this particular piece, you'll notice that the relationship portrayed is that of a daughter and her father. (freud would say that the only relationship that really matters is the parent-child relationship... heheh)

and those who appreciate it, (in this case chuilin) find that their experiences of relationships cause them to resonate with the author's expression of emotion or philosophy.

perhaps rather than all this talking, we should just ask chuilin y she decided to share that short story with us. =)

First, it ain't no poetry. second, i didn't write it. third, definitely posted it because it is meaningful and especially more so during the time if posting and now still. lastly, reason was definitely love in general but nothing to do with love that is not returned.

late nights with who??.......or what?? =Ž

reason for sharing: just a reminder that sometimes when people you love takes a toll (it can happen in many ways) on you, you shouldn't turn your back or block them out (in many ways also) but reach out to them instead.

i bolded 'fear and security' as that was what i was going through at that time and this reminder kinda helped me widen my perspective of things. mind you though, it didn't take away the fear or insecurity neither did it make things any easier, infact, worse! but it sure opened up my eyes to take a step back and look at the whole picture for better assessment of the situation. but in terms of guiding you what is the next step to do, the short story didn't and couldn't start the job.

we can do potluck style where evry1 bring sumtin edible to throw into d pot n we'll see wat happens... hehe... we can stir n chant strange verses like witches in Macbeth...

sigh.. my mom was going to come see me when i am in Singapore but latest decision made by my director and supervisor. I am not going to Singapore. :crying: , as it is too close to my Hong Kong trip.

By the way, Geraldine Chow is getting married on 7/07/07. Anyone attending please take lots of photos !!

Announcement : Any frens who wanna join me for a cosy homely steamboat at my place are welcome to join. i'm having it with james, sis, hsemate. I haven't decided sat or sun nite, but if u're interested malcolm i'll sms u.

Menu : Lotsa FRESH seafood & vege & eggs & noodles (we share cost), strawberry or passion fruit tea from camerons (curtesy of sis), ice cream & fresh fruits for dessert (curtesy of me).

haha... thanx for compliment altho how u can say dat without tasting it 1st i have no idea... :D

it's not a class of 99 gathering per say, since it involves my sis (batch 2001) & hsemate (not ACS)... So it's just a simple makan event for those of us (like me) who prefer home cooked food in the weekends since it's d only time to polish my rusty culinary skills  I'm thinking of doing something extra for dessert... hmm...

Whoever wanna join do say so asap or sms me cuz I need headcount b4 grocery shopping end of next week.

Mal, tentatively it's next sat, 07/07/07 (wat a nice date) @ 7pm.

Since this thread has been very slow lately... let me add some news from my end.

I've recently come upon an opportunity to go to Vietnam for work. My boss is going there to head the lending business and I'm somewhere on his "to bring along" list.

I'm thinking that'll be pretty cool. Get a promotion by going there, live on expat pay and enjoy life there for a couple of years. Learn lots of new stuff at work, build a strong business and not to mention see the country, absorb some culture, language, meet the women :) Come back to KL for a bigger job once my condo is finished. Sounds like a nice plan?

But let's see. Any potential downsides? Suggestions anyone? Anyone been there before?

while vietnam is gearing up for international trade and WTO membership, it is still a socialist (almost communist) country.

so, u just have to bear that in mind when dealing with the govt.

altho i've not been there, but i have a number of vietnamese frens in australia.. nice people. the girls are rather pretty.. but the language is hard to learn.

hey chung ming! going to vietnam eh, sounds really cool!

i met a few vietnamese recently... at a training and orientation course for new staff of my organisation from all over east and west asia. actually i don't think the language is too hard to learn. only thing is that it's tonal, and if you can't differentiate some of the tones, the results may be quite bizarre...

they taught us a vietnamese christian song (actually it's a translation of an english one) with a line that goes "daemons will have to flee", and when i sang it they all laughed 'cos my mispronounciation made it "daemons will ride motorbike"...

i don't think there are much downsides to the vietnam plan, except you're bound to face certain difficulties like adapting to new surroundings and culture, learning the language, etc. as long as your eyes are open and you're prepared for those adjustments, u should have a whale of a time. =)

Oh dear, how to cramp everything in 1 day? There's Disneyland and
Disneysea to visit, which will take u the whole day.
Shinjuku is more of an office and shopping district, plus their famous
red light area up north.

Hehehe - Lainey, I have had the priviledge to traverse half the island nation late 2005 lerr......BEST pizza in the world that I hv ever had is still Taipei's Woodstone (somewhere near Taipei Sogo) and Taiwan's UNDISPUTED snack capital lies in Danshui, a suburb area outside Taipei City (just by the rivermouth) - PLUS, clothing and footwear sure sell DIRT CHEAP in Taiwan :D

Taiwan is actually gonna face Autumn soon (but in the Northern part like Taipei/Taoyuan, the temp shall start getting a lil colder by November), but as for Southern Taiwan like Kaohsiung/Pingtung/Tainan, I personally think that it's still relatively warm down there......if the day is sunny at Kenting National Park, do get yourself a dip or have a dive/snorkel there (if ever I have a chance to go to Taiwan again, Kenting could be where I wanna aim for, perhaps.......)

back in Canberra now... :crying: . I love Japan, it is the coolest country i have been to.. the stuff there is affordable for Australians now with the exchange rate but not as cheap as taiwan.

the food there is so so so nice.. and i had a free tourguide as my friend Sahara was in town. I was actually quite sad to leave while for my other trips i was eager to get back to Australia. i don't think i can stand the japan's work lifestyle, they work very long hours.

have to catch up on work as i'll be leaving to Sydney on wednesday so will try to post pics up by then.

Lainey, which part(s) of Taiwan did u eventually traverse? Taipei, Taroko Gorge (Central-East Taiwan), Kaohsiung, Tainan, Kenting Beach, wherever else? However, from my personal perspective and view, Taiwan and Japan has lotsa similarities lifestyle-wise and food-wise only becoz Taiwan was in history annexed by Japan - so most of its foodstuff is rather UN-ORIGINAL liao........

hahahaa.... yeah its good to be back!

lava, u know me too well. i wouldnt MIA by choice, especially dat long, it wasn't exams but work work work... everything happened so fast in a blink of an eye...

i had annual appraisal then a round of promotions (which I did not get) then a short stint of depression (due to disappointment) then super busy period being bothered with auditors while trying to close monthly a/c AND quarterly a/c AND mgt reports AND presentations at d same time (all this while feeling very demotivated) then lost my temper with d poor auditors then started hunting on jobstreet then going for intense interviews then got job offers!

fuhhhh... dat's not all my fren... u have no idea d hell i raised with my bosses (just b4 i left d company) for not protecting d employees interests cuz of several reasons - pregnant kolig was hospitalised due to high blood pressure caused by overwork, another kolig's dad passed away but boss have d nerve to tell her deadlines more important to return work (suppose to get 3 days compassionate leave according to co policy)... can u believe it??

i wrote in my 'exit interview form' for HR (co policy) "Never put WORK above an employee's wellbeing, it won't help productivity and it certainly won't help job satisfaction, hence high turnover in finance dept. Your staff are ur most important asset, take care of them & they'll take care of the co."

hehe... i figured i might as well go out in a blaze of glory, maybe it'll shake things up abit n make it better for my koligs in future. some say im a troublemaker, some say im stupid for burning bridge, but i dun freaking care anymore.... now im happy with a new job n settling in pretty well. :)

oh ya, about d snapshot thingy... i think it's called a 'screen shot', im now in an IT consultancy industry so gotta use proper terms... hehe... tis is how i did it :

1) Go to required page/website
2) Press "PrtSc" button on keyboard. It means Print Screen to capture exactly wat u see on ur monitor.
3) Got o Start button > Programs > Paint program
4) Press "Ctrl" + "V". It's a shortcut to paste wat u just captured in PrtSc. U can also right click on empty Paint template n click "Paste"
5) U should see the required page/website on Paint as a picture. Save it.
6) Login to Photobucket and download pix u just saved.
7) Upload to ACS Forum! :)

Anyone have a shorter/easier way to do it? I can learn too.

Pressing Alt+PrintScreen would make life easier at it captures only the current window. Saves time from cropping and editing your snapshots

hey everyone! =)

haven't been here for a while... busy =P i was wondering if chungming had gone to vietnam yet... looks like he hasn't. don't senyap-senyap sneak off ya chungming!

will be crazy for the next 2 months. school holidays are my busiest time as i'll be running camps for secondary school kids. i have four camps on in november and december. exciting, but scary (for one of those camps i will be the main speaker for the first time... i may have been a good debater back in school, but speaking for 7 minutes and speaking for half an hour to an hour are very different things! still rather green in this speaking thing) and tiring too! =P

will be going back to s'wan today... just for a night. packing up some stuff like fridge, washing machine etc to cart off to my new house in seremban. yes, we have been surviving fine without those stuff. i've always said that true necessities are very few, just that we humans tend to take luxuries as neccessities... =)

i wouldn't dare to wear those saris/lengas... it wud show off my F-A-T "fit" one-pack (as opposed to six-pack) abs, to the detriment of any witnesses... =P

Hey, i'm sitting in the Canberra airport waiting for my flight, will reach Singapore about 1.30pm and Malaysia tomorrow morning where i will hopefully be picked up by someone, brother, aunty or uncle.

Paging Ah Boh...
Can you please pm me your mobile number? I think i'm heading straight to Sitiawan tomorrow but a contact number to call you will help.

Don't forget you were going to take me jalan-jalan to eat Fishingman's sausages ler !!

I know everyone is busy this time of the year, but i hope we are able to catch up when i'm back..
