aiseyy man, half the fleet OCSed at the first race with kevin finishing first! what a waste!!
and Kevin DNFed the 2nd race when he actualled finished 3rd in that race... sigh.. wonder what happened
for everyone else out there, OCS means that you had an On Course Start, means you crossed the starting line before the start signal, while DNF means u didn't finish the race. It is weird that they ruled it as a DNF because he actually DID finish the race. hmmmm

However on a sadder note - Lee Chong Wei just got bundled out by Taufik H in the semis of the mens' singles competition - so NO MATCH WITH LIN DAN lerr...........................................
Anyway on a more positive note, K3 (KK Koo) and Tan Boon Heong are in the mens' doubles finals as underdogs against Alven & Luluk of Indonesia, so at least a PINGAT PERAK at hand :D

Esther lost first game by 37 pins la... At one point she did very well to close the 20pins gap and lost it again at the final stretch. How to recover in second game?
Do you know there is another bowler representign another country was produced by Malaysia. To be exact she used to bowl in Mirama and Asiajaya.

N3R4K0ng!!!!!! I personally think Pakistan and Japan DELIBERATELY played to a SCORELESS DRAW in the men's hockey (AT MALAYSIA's OWN EXPENSE!!!) - well if one of them loses, sure get bundled out of the semifinals lah!
However, our takraw regu went down with more guts this time in the regu event - losing two NARROW sets to the Thais..........still got takraw DOUBLES for our men - so the rout is not complete as yet.......

Guys, I've noticed a trend in Malaysia's performance when it comes to sports like Asian Games, SEA games and whatever-you-call-it game held in KL recently. This trend has been like that for many many years.
If you guys notice, in terms of medal tally, Malaysia always collect the least gold, more silver and most bronze. The top teams (2-3 teams) always collect most gold, lesser silver and least bronze. Hmmm... why is that always the case?
I've got one conclusion (my own, could be wrong). I think we do not have the mentality to be champions, to be match winners. Either that or 2nd/3rd place is good enough for our atheletes.

To me, Nicol David is a true example of what a champion is made of, not even the 1992 Thomas Cup team.
Let's see where Kean Keat and Boon Heong goes from here. If you read Rexy's comment, he hoped the players remained humble, train harder and not big-headed. I think that's the damn problem with Malaysia sportsmen/sportswomen (men especially).

i tend to disagree. its the attitude of the sports officials. the atletes themselves has no such big headedness. just that the officials say gic them this, gic them that oni if they appear on tv endorsing this or that, and the force them to do promo tours for this official/politician and that thus taking time away from their precious training which is what they should be doing anyway but didn't.
top atletes in other countries even if got gold will get scolded for not breaking the record, and they go straight back to training after the competition! but in malaysia, if u go into quarter finals, they pat u on the back and say very very good liou, and gic u banglos lar, car lar, movie deals lar, adverts lar. look at alex yoong. a disgrace to f1 racing. and the atletes go for holiday somemore! wat is this!

So Far:-
Hockey - dissapointing, Should not blame Japan & Pakistan. We played badly against HK (2-1).
Football - need I say more, always dissapointing.
Badminton - should have made the finals. In the past beating Korea was never an issue.
Bowling - great.
Cycling - Josiah Ng looks good. Broke games record this morning in sprint qualifying.
Sailing - Guaranteed gold in girl's Optimist. Hard luck for Kevin.

We are just not hungry enough.
We want everything to be put on the silver platter.

Did you watch his performance against the Chinese?
He was leading 19-12 in the 1st set. In the new format (21 points), it's quite impossible to lose that game.
He fumbled big time. Lost the 1st set 20-22.

The whole concept of getting ministers, president of associations who do not know a single thing about the sport. How far can sports in Malaysia go..?
If you notice, the ones are doing well (to Malaysian standards) are the ones lead by people who excelled in the game.
For example, in Tennis, the former presidents do not even know the scoring systems of the game...
They are there only for personal agendas and fame.

Alex Yoong is not the best driver Malaysia could produce. He got to where he is because of "connections". There are plenty out there who easily beat Alex when he was still racing locally but because they had no connections and discriminated upon, our country is the one ultimately losing out. Karamjit is a very fine example.

SEVENTEEN (17) Silver Medals
