Hi hi....hope this thread ppl will continue to contribute as tech is increasing at exponential rate.
Ok, I shall start first. Over here in Singapore, the current trend or the latest coolest gadget to have is MP3 player. In fact, it is out of stock in most shops..
What about the rest of you?
The coming PSP from Sony!! Have you seen the games on this bad boy??? I am definately getting one!!!

I got two things on my wishlist:
1. Tapwave Zodiac-2 or Gizmondo/Bizmondo
2. Nokia 7710
My life will be complete with these two... for the moment.

Try this:
Virtual Game Station Software.
Company: Connectix
Will turn your PC into a Sony Playstation. Mac or Windows OS compatible. Just pick a controller, insert one of many compatible Playstation game CDs and you're set. Supports one or two players and can even save your game.

I have one digital camera Olympus UltraZoom C-750 which is a 4 Megapixels, 10x optical zoom with 4x digital zoom. I bought it at about S$1000 1 year ago. Now the price has dropped to about S$750.
If you want my honest opinion on camera selection, you need to know whether are you going for top-of-the-line digital cameras or just consumer digital cameras. What I mean is that if you want the top-end camera, you have to go for professional cameras which cost a bomb but these cameras will be great to use. Cost is about S$1800 above for an entry-level beginner one.
Most of the comsumer digital cameras have about the same performance for the same range type. So it's really up to your feel for the camera in this aspect.
Of course, if given a choice, I would go after a professional digital camera anytime but I dont have that much money to spend.

robin, i'd love prof camera too... like the SLR but they're soooooooo pricey! but sometimes when think of it, maybe should just get that, then die starving for the next three months so at least i know i have a great camera to use... is it worth it though..?

Lilian, I love professional digital cameras also. But like you said, pricey! Of course professional digital cameras are worth the price.
For me, it is the matter of affordability. I am not a rich fellow...so....I can only afford a normal one like Olympus UltraZoom C750. Bear in mind though of the cost of the accessories and maintenance. I have seen some powerful telephoto lens that costs 5 digits in Singapore!
So, from what I know, the starting price you see from shops are just the
starting cost for the camera body and default lens perhaps with some basic accessories like camera stand, bags, extra batteries, etc. You would need to buy those special lenses for taking far away objects or vice versa. But ultimately professional digital cameras are excellent because mainly you will be able to focus your desired object (unlike those consumer cameras like mine which could be a pain in the a** to get it right to focus properly) and take photos as you would like them to be.
Of course I have some regrets for not getting a professional digital SLR camera. Hope this helps.

i think i'll stick to something simpler for the time being... i currently have canon ixus i... it's great that it's slimline but i regretted getting it without checking out the specs properly... so am sorta considering ixus 500 at the moment, but must check out more first...

i have an ixus i too. i like how it's so small. makes me take it along everywhere with me.

I have never actually use an IXUS camera before, except helping friends to take photos using it. So I will not know what are the pros and cons. But I can tell you my Olympus UltraZoom C750 is terribly slow to start up and worse is that it takes a little bit of time to focus. I guess this is apparent in most Olympus camera because I noticed this as I have used other Olympus digital camera before. I have used a professional camera before (borrowed one la....where have money me) and it was definitely excellent every time.
Hmm.....maybe next time I will get a professional camera after my C750 koyak,
that would be about 4 more years as warranty expires....well, maybe can save up money now....or maybe not.....need to save money for other things more important first.....
i'm onto my second ixus, the i. it's great. really small, except no zoom and doesn't focus very well when i'm drunk. :) usually i don't need the zoom though. i just walk closer. so the small size is the thing that's most important to me.

Was using Olympus zoom 400. Pic resolution was not bad. One thing I don't understand is after 2 hrs of snaping pictures non stop, the camera becomes hot. Don't know why. Would not recommend anyone to buy that but I think Ixus are good.

I've never heard of Leica before. But doesn't mean that they are no good. What i normally do if i am unfamiliar with a brand is get on the internet and do my research there. But just as a general statement....if you never heard of it, its either they are super duper specialized or kinda bad. .

leica used to be the rolex of cameras in the good old days, when you have to wind up your cameras and do everything manually. there's still a lot of romance to owning one. if fact, i would love to get one, but they are very expensive - you pay a lot more for similiar features to other brands.

it's not as slim/compact as the ixus but i think since it's not so well known, that justify it's price. customers don't need to absorb the advertising costs.

Just got this info for anyone really into buying a serious prof digital SLR camera.
The top of the line Prof digital SLR camera....from Canon (who else? the other one is Nikon)....Canon EOS 1DS Mark II.....cost S$18000 (body only).
It has 16.7Megapixels and can use SD memory with compactFlash.
4 fps continuous photoshoot for total of 32 pictures in one go. Startup time is only 0.3s which is incredibly fast and has ISO setting up to 1600.
Only for those with enough http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/7/7_15_5v.gif (http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb001_ZNxdm414YYSG)...
