Hello All,
We've heard of great things happening during school days. That's nice. But all of us moved on living different lives, different courses, routes. We're all everywhere; some in Pg, some KL, some overseas....
Let's share about what happened (all those years) after ACS....I'll share mine later.
Looking forward to hearing from you all.
God bless!

For one thing, work is gonna be a big part of our lives, imagine working till retirement...
Well, the future is ahead of us, we should enjoy life now, while we are still young and energetic, to fulfill our dreams.
"What is life to us? Are we keeping a balance for life? While most of us are working real hard (I know some of you do work long hours), are we keeping a balanced priority for the things we want to achieve? Do we have time for our family, time for our friends, time to dream dreams, time to enjoy life as God has given us? What has work made most of us?"
I have to say, work has made many people, 'monsters'. From the timid people, some have become 'hard'. And some who are 'hard', have become 'soft'. Oh dear, why must work sometimes bring such drastic change?
Oh, don't worry about me. I'm just sharing thoughts. Actually, I'm having a good time here in Penang, just that ya, I work real long hours daily (save for the weekends :) )
Catch ya all later.

That'd be interesting, if money could drop from the sky, then there will no longer be work in this world...
Let me share an article, something to encourage us...
When the Clouds Hide the Sun
God’s enduring presence doesn’t always take the form of the expected
There will be seasons where we face unknown circumstances, something different, something we have never encountered before, it’s more than we can bear, it’s more than we can understand, and it’s a mystery. There will be times when we question the One who allows the hurting times to be so unbearable, so sad, that we begin to lose faith, we begin to lose sight of what God plans.
There are clouds in our everyday life that will cover the sun from shining. There will be seasons where we just don’t see a breakthrough, even when we’ve prayed so hard or sought for a miracle to take place. And yet we know that He was there, through it all.
Throughout His Word, there are promises, built upon the integrity of God Himself, to assure us of His everlasting love and care for us. Even when the clouds hide the sun, you can be sure that, the clouds are His tests and trials to bring forth a testimony; a hardship with a purpose behind it; a promise of sunlight after proven the perseverance. The Scriptures tell us that the saints will weep for a night, but rejoicing will come in the morning, telling us that the trials we face will not be forever, it is just for a moment.
We live each day with uncertainty of what is to be with our future, our family, and our finances. When we’ve worked hard and earned well, we enjoy the fruits of our labours. But disaster can strike anytime, and anyone; family member struck with terminal illness; economy slump; getting retrenched and many more. What can we say then to these things that suddenly happen?? Do we curse God and say that He is unfair??
God’s enduring presence doesn’t always take the form of the expected. His promise to dwell with us does not mean that we are free from the world’s system governing our lives. We can’t just expect the circumstances will sway our way, by just thinking that we are on the Lord’s side. Yes, we see the promises, we know them in our hearts, but are they given as in the literal meaning given in the Word??
Pain does not mean that we are not protected; illness does not mean that we are not healed; loneliness does not mean that we are alone, sadness does not mean the absence of joy, frustration does not mean that we don’t have peace, and with anger does not mean that we do not have love. There’s always something more than what is seen, it’s more than meets the eye.
When His presence seeks to bring solace to our hurting, we need to be obedient to understand that He seeks to bring in us the fruits of His testing. When He tests us, He desires that we grow stronger and wiser through the times, sometimes when we just don’t understand it all. He will work for good as we begin to trust Him for His leading, and His everlasting resources to continue to provide for our needs.
Not everyone will see the everyday goodness of life through experiences, but all of us can be assured that even in the midst of the hardship and circumstances, we can rest assured that He is with us, and will always be with us to the end. So that our hearts can rest in the promise that even when the clouds hide the sun, the sun will continue to shine behind the clouds to promise the brightness of the solutions to our everyday life and circumstances. He is the God of our everyday life, and He will be true to His leading to lead us as His children. Remember, the clouds can only hide the sun for a moment, because the sun will shine strong and true to it’s calling to shine upon the earth.
God bless!

If you enjoy your work, then it is no longer a pain... I do have friends that are trained accountants/engineers that switched to other jobs in order to achieve life enjoyment.... One of them became a dive instructor in an east coast resort and the other became a amateur golfer (moving on to professional)....
In terms of $$$, they definitely make less but they said it is worth it... Life's no longer a bore..... :)

Hey all,
Athena, thanks. Nice things are meant to be shared.
We all do get tired with work at times. Life is like a roller-coaster, it's ups and downs, that bring us high and low...One moment could be praises from your superiors, another could be great demands to meet expectation....One can never know what to expect in the workplace. But that's what makes this life great right? Because if everything is so predictable, I would suppose work life would be so dull.
I'll share something about my work:
About a year ago, I had a big clash with my boss. I couldn't see eye to eye with him, whenever I saw him coming my way, I would walk another, and likewise, I felt him too to feel that way. It was over one small matter, that was blown out of proportion. This went on for a week. And man, that was certainly the worst week in work for me. I had no motivation, no spirit to work. Came to work on time, and left work on time as well.
Well, feeling that this was dragging, I had to do something. Sensing that our friendship was drifting apart because of this conflict, I decided to call for a meeting with him, just one to one to trash out the issues. I really felt I was not to be blamed in the issue, but nevertheless, I just decided that I needed to make the first move to reconcile. And yup, it was a great move. I felt that making the move was probably the best thing I had done then, because if I hadn't, I would have left and not experience such great experience in the work place.
What's to learn from this is; sometimes there will be conflicts between colleagues and friends, we have to be humble enough to ask for forgiveness (eventhough sometimes, we think we're right), because if we care enough to maintain the friendship, pride is definitely not the issue.
That decision probably opened many windows of opportunities to new working experiences, because my boss knew one thing, I was willing to communicate my thoughts through. And now, I'm dealing with my counterparts and customers in the States, all because my superior had faith in me.
Perhaps that could shed some light as to how we can be salt and light in the work place...

good move hooi, good move...
but yet for me, i would talk and get things straight with them...i split my likings for a person in work and in personal life..for instance, my current boss, during work he's my boss, but after work he's a friend to me...we'll i do enjoy his company as a friend but as working colleagues, i really dislikes his ways...hence i would talk to him during working hours about our differences....i would of course be aggressive, anyways, that's wat i am...lol...

for us who are new in the working scene, i guess, we have a lot to learn when dealing with our superiors and our fellow co-workers. But I think probably, i will do it Calvin's way, work is work, and what u personally think of that person, well, it's ur problem, so deal with it!!!

Sometimes when we try the things we don't feel we're good it, they can help us understand ourselves better. Who knows, with a little practice, we may be 'cut' for it.
Perhaps venturing into weird things could do some good. Like teaching music...

in general, clashing with your boss is very similar to committing suicide - very dumb thing to do. suggestion - swallow your saliva and walk away. take in as much as you can and when you think you cannot take it anymore, look for a job first and then give the fellow a good piece of your mind.
when you're relatively junior, it's ok. but when you're higher up in the hierarchy, have 2 mortgages to pay, 2 kids, etc, losing your job is no joke... :(

Thanks for the note of advise. Appreciate that.
I, on the other hand, tend to think that sometimes whatever differences we face, it's best we confront it, and not run away from it. And it's definitely not my principle to say nasty things, especially on the last day to the guy/gal I dislike at work. I suppose, with some courage, you can face the person and tell that person what you dislike.
I have a friend, not too long ago, in a meeting, just disagreed with his boss on some arrangement. It was an absurd proposal; the manager asked all his staff to pray to the idol (but he's a Christian). So, my friend stood up, and said no, will not do. When he did that, everyone else agreed that as Christians, they should not be bowing to idols. After the meeting, these ppl approached my friend, and told him that they were Christians too. But nobody stood up when the proposal was firstly presented, it was like Christians were in the hiding under a cloak, not wanting to profess Christ in the workplace.
Sometimes, clashes are birthed just because of differences of thought. It only takes one person to first break the barrier, for a string of others to follow suit. One man, can make a difference.
For me, I always feel that it's important to address the matter, and not leave it hanging. I learnt it once, that it pays to take lead, especially in reconciling. Even if that person is your boss, it helps to just trash things out. You know, you will be valued by your superior because you had enough courage to speak your mind. In a respectful way, of course...
I believe how we handle situations show maturity as well. That's just what I think...

Well, ok...let me just share briefly of my life after ACS...
I actually did Form 6 for 2 weeks, then I left to study at the Ungku Omar Polytechnic, to do my Diploma in Mechatronics. It's a 3-year course. Those were good times too, I had a wonderful time studying in Ipoh.
In Ipoh, I made many good friends. I was active in the CF (Christian Fellowship), serving in the little ways I can.
Well, studies was ok. I wouldn't say fun, because I don't really enjoy assignments and tests. But the class was cool. I had great coursemates, we have half the class are Chinese guys and gals, and the other half are Malays. Of course, a few Indians...
I just had a great 3 years in Ipoh. I don't know how to state everything, but ya, in brief, I had a good time there. Oh ya, on my connection with the CF, I share very precious moments with my advisor's family, 4 children; 3 girls and 1 boy. They all mean a lot to me, and I try spoil them (the eldest girl is 14 and the youngest, boy is 3).
Ya, I'll share more later. I look forward to hearing about you all.
Take care.

Whose turn to share? Only me here?
Well, let me continue; after colleage, I started working, here in Jabil Circuit, now 2 half years (started in May 2002). This is my first job, and I'm still here. With my diploma, I worked as a technician, working in debugging of PCBAs, and now, as technical specialist, I work in NPI, introducing new platforms and some forms of scripting in Unix environment. Actually, my customer is Cisco, and their testing environment uses Klembase (Cisco propriety in programming), so it will not serve to be useful if I look for other jobs. But ya, some forms of Unix are deployed, but overall the commands are Cisco's own.
I've gotten a subsidy from my company to continue my studies, with a bond of a year. I have not started yet, but in Jan 2005, I will. I have wanted to take on the course of a year now, but I kept on postponing. Everytime I wanted to enrol, there will be something holding me back.
So, here I am. Working in Penang, and enjoying myself in Penang. I'm actively serving in church, which I will share later (if others share too...)
Come on everyone, lets share....
Thanks.

Not sure will be teaching what form yet, but subjects are Science and Maths. Wish be luck folks... this school bukan main-main one... big reputation in all fields... the good, the bad, the ugly.. all here.

Sounds great. It seems like a great opportunity. I wish you success as you take on this challenge, knowing that it's a great honour to invest into the lives of young people.
God bless!
thought i'd share my 50 cents worth too. i left sitiawan after form 3 in 1990 to go to singapore to study. was there for 3 years, then went to australia to do my last year of high school. then did accounting in uni in australia. i worked as an accountant for 5 years and then moved to an aussie investment bank where i've been for 5 years. got married in 2000 and separated in 2003. that's about it in terms of what i've been up to. been back to sitiawan every couple of years. i made some really close friends in acs sitiawan and we still keep in touch up to this day...
