it seems that during class, her lecturer asked them what brand they used. The young ones only used one brand...and the older ones used another brand!!!

I started out using Darkie and gave up when they changed it to DARLIE. Then I switched to Colgate. Very unhappy when the hole of the tube gets larger and larger (very wasteful) so I ended up using to Oral B till now.
Guess I have no alternative but to vote for OTHERS

i've used colgate almost all of my life and suddenly for about 2 years switched to Aquafresh.
then back to colgate.. happened that darlie had a new flavour.. some bluish gel fresh springwater thingy.. i've always prefered the gel type to the white paste.. so i switched 3 months ago to this new darlie..
i hate sensodyne.. i feel like i never even brushed teeth.. doesn't taste nice.. but my parents use them.. old mah.. got sensitive teeth, can't take the mint

Actually I've been using Darkie/Darlie untill about 2 yrs back, switch to Colgate. Finding it getting mint-ier, pedas lah.....and also b'cos my BIL's dentist commented against it. Something to do with not good for the gums.....

yah jeanlau, gums receding isn't dat due to inflammation, so scaling and flossing might reverse it rather than not brushing so vigorously? i use sensodyne sometimes, sign of age....:)

OK,I kasi informasi sikit
Firstly, toothpaste do not cause receding gums.Main causes of gum recession are incorrect or aggressive tooth-brushing techniques(yes, ahbau, you brush too fiercely:D) and untreated periodontal/gum disease. And the only way to effectively clean your teeth is to supplement your toothbrushing with correct flossing technique.
So,in order to prevent it,learn the correct technique of brushing and flossing, and make sure you go for your 6 monthly dental checkup and cleaning loh!
Secondly, certain toothpaste can cause sensitivity with prolonged use. There are some "whitening"toothpaste in the market which contains microabrasives that wears down your cementum layer(layer of tooth substance just beneath your gum margin) and that will cause your dentin in the area to be exposed(and that will lead to tooth sensitivity-it will take a mini essay to explain the mechanics of it).So ,do be weary.BTW,commercially sold tooth whitening products DO NOT WORK,period.
Thirdly, desensitizing toothpastes like Sensodyne and Colgate Sensitive, are very effective if you have receded gums and sensitive teeth. They contain compounds that block the dentinal surfaces of your exposed roots.
So,whatever toothpaste you use,its actually a preference. If you have sensitive teeth,by all means get hold of one of the desensitizing toothpaste. And this trancends all age range lah!
OK,talk too much oredi:h:

Thats one of the main reasons i stop using those whitening toothpaste...makes my teeth super sensitive. I rather have slight "yerrow" color teeth than sensitive teeth.

You can try lah,but you will be quite disappointed because basically all the t/paste in the market contain similar active ingredients.
But by all means,do it and take some pics and post here and tell us your experience.:D
If you want bengkak lips though, you brush your lips w chilipaste, guarantee to outdo Angeline Jolie:laugh:

This is becoming a Q n A thread:unsure:
Electrics are good IF you use them correctly. They oscilate and the more canggih(and expensive ones) even have tapping and vibrating action besides oscilating. So them actually massage your gums and keep the circulation going.Nowadays very cheap mah.

The usual lifespan is 3 month,if you have been brushing well.Even if they still look good after 3 month, buang saja, cos it breeds bacteria.Yup,its right that you feel geli:sick:
