View Full Version : Sterilization

juz kaypohing abit here...
the issue is this. its ever sooooo common to see women going for TUBAL LIGATION, as a means of sterilization 9though there's a small rate of failure)...but how often do we see the men doing VASCECTOMY? though vascectomy is a reversible procedure, as opposed to Tubectomy...so, in case of the couple decide to 'try again' some time down the road, simpler, no?
the theory is...it'll give the men more opportunity to play the field...since they wont be sowing any seeds!
or...they feel less manly...knowing no 'little brudders' are ejaculated?
why is it always the ladies...who go thru painful processes - childbirth (normal vaginal delivery or caeserean-section), inserting intrauterine contraceptive device, implanon, contraceptive injections etc etc
while the men are merely 'supportive husbands'...or so they are supposed to be la?
would any guy...any one of u go for a vascectomy to plan ur family, out of love for ur wife...maybe?

u want this to be a poll???
Jim.Loi
07-18-2006, 09:50 AM
I will if I have to...for the sake of my wife..Vasectomy is a far better choice than Tubal Ligation....not painful at all.....It has nuthin' to do with fears of failure of Ejaculation as mentioned..but more of certain male pride....loss of procreation.....just my 2 pence..

Hmmm...interesting topic, lavagal.:)
what's the question and wat are the choices of answers?
i'll set up the polls ASAP!
For men, the choice is would you or would you not?
For ladies, would you prefer your husband undergo vasectomy or you go for tubal?
Lava Gal
07-18-2006, 10:04 AM
For men:
Would u undergo a vascectomy? And why?
If Yes:
- Love for wife
- Get to 'play' around
- What's the big deal? Its reversible, anyway (most of the time)
- Others (would be good if u care to share)
If No:
- Lose 'manlihood' / chance to propagate ur genes
- I won't get pregnant if i don't do it :cheesy:
- Others (would be good if u care to share)
For women:
Would u allow ur husband to go for a vascectomy?
YES
NO
erm...can u gals help me come up wif options there, ah?
TQ - gottta rush off now..

Now adays those invasive surgical methode is out of fashion lioa....There is non surgical like Mirena and Implanon which is as effective as ligation or vasectomy and it is fully reversible.......So I'm thinking in near future no body will be subjected to surgery for family planning.......I'm already seeing this trend now.....eg Implanon......But Mirena started to pick up lioa....My fren in Australia mention that U cannot find any other IUCD except Mirena there......Maybe there is cheap mah.......

vasectomy snips the tube correct? so where does the semen go? :D

it snips the vas deferens, so sperms are reabsorbed into the body...
approximately 50% of the sperm produced never make it to ejaculation in a non-vasectomized man anyway...
so there are plenty already in reabsorption mechamism in the first place...
following vasectomy, the membranes of epididymis (where sperms are stored/matured) increase in size to absorb more fluid...
more macrophages (natural "vacuum cleaner") are also brought in to break down the proteins and re-absorb the solid content...

Thanks for the explanation but still all this snipping snipping talk is really making me very quesy ....its just not kosher i tell you. if God had wanted us to be able to control our ejaculations......honestly, he'd have given us males a toggle switch somewhere (Squirt/DunSquirt).. Trust me I've looked EVERYWHERE and there isnt one.

evolutionary, it's procreation all the way but in real life, it's not a viable option...
you don't want to bring a child to the world when you can't provide for him/her...
in any case, i believe it's reversible...

I think it's not 100% confirm that it's reversible...may have some adverse effect...not enough 'guinea pigs' for studies kua...:p
Before the vasectomy, you have to think thoroughly whether really, really don't want another child. Sometimes people decision may change due to
1) The man remarry and may want to start a new family
2) Children all grown up and left home
3) Family economy improve, so want to have more child
4) Death of a child/children (touch wood), sad but happens sometimes.
