i am thinking of fixing a front door grill for my house....so far I have consulted 2 vendors but they quoted me so much differently....one quoted RM30 per square feet and the other quoted RM60...
Anyone out there fixed this b4?
I am also considering replacing my french doors grills and also the upstairs front room windows grill but it costs $$$......

pretty similar but i dunno abt the quality.....infact the cheaper shop has much more choices...until now i confused liao....
Song,
Check for "thickness". Also, cheaper quote may be due to lower grade steel/iron.
I'm no expert in this area but that was what I watched out for when I did the grills for my home.

Make sure they show U the metal for the particular price....The good one is the metal goes in between it and not joined to it....and the material thicker.....Get a good one ok....and don't regret later....

I did mine last year. They charge by per foot run. Cost almost Rm3.5 for 12feet. Design also contribute to the cost but not much. Perhaps approx 10% - 15%.

Song, check out the new concept of wooden door with iron grill imbedded inside. Looks very stylish....plus it comes with 5 dead bolt locks......3 on the side and 1 each top and bottom. very secure.
Wooden door - very nicely design.

What's the price?
everything including installation approx RM 5000. This is the price quoted abt 3 years ago. Definitely worth considering for your main door. It is a 1.5 leave door.

In KL, it goes by foot run. Averagely about 6ft la.... Design depends on what they offer. You can choose from their catalog.

basically, it has all the standard features but I think nowadays you can add on options to the system. Dpends on the systems. Just have to check around. Mine is an old system so not much you can add on.

Grill are actually quite outdated not to mention a fire risk as well. Try getting those metal door + frame. I got mine (made in China) for RM1,600. It has 13 locks (top, bottom, left and right). Turn once with your key and 6 locks will activate, turn once more and the rest will lock it. There's even another lock on top of the main key hole for added security. The door comes with a door bell build in, spy hole with mini door, has a 1 hour fire rating and it's 90% sound proof. There's even no gap between the frame and door leave for those crooks who uses screw drivers or blunt / sharp object to "crack" open your door.

Justin, is this suitable in M'sia because of expansion & contraction?
Is it easy to open & close?

Actually it's RM1499 but that was 3 years back. And yes, it includes installation.

Is it easy to open & close?
Yes it is. I have fixed it for 3 years now and even after some heavy banging / closing due to strong wind, it's still very solid. No worries on contraction and expansion as both the door and frame are made of steel. Just need to get the frame and joints fixed up properly.
