ok, back to the story... (cue: romantic music)

once i'd decided to propose, i bought the rings and began to make plans. originally i wanted to do it during our uni christian fellowship (cf) meeting (i had already graduated, but chen may - that's my fiancee, blur khoo - was still in her 4th year). this rancangan tak jadi because the cf agenda that day was quite tight, no time to squeeze it in.

so, after cf that day, chen may n i made plans to go out...nothing fancy, just jalan-jalan only. so we went to her place, where she got ready to go out while i prepared to Pop the Question. i must admit, my heart was beating a little faster than normal.

she finally came downstairs and the following conversation ensued:
CM: let's go!
SJ: eh, wait la. i wan to sing a song for u.
CM: huh? song? *looks blur* ok la...

i then sang a song for her, with myself accompanying on the guitar... the song was "i will be here" by steven curtis chapman (i can post the lyrics if anyone requests it)... n i was so nervous, i forgot the lyrics twice! spoil the song only... =P

then, the conversation resumed:
CM: ok nice song, let's go!
SJ: wait, wait! not yet finish la... *mushy romantic speech edited*

after the mushy romantic speech, i got down on one knee, whipped out the ring and said, "will u marry me?"

believe it or not, she immediately said yes! and immediately began tearing up... err, hopefully because she was touched, and not out of sorrow...=)

and that is the story of How i Proposed... to some it might seem too old-fashioned and cliche'd, to others it might seem unprofessional (he forgot the lyrics? aiyo, how can... n the girl still say yes somemore...); but nevertheless that's how i did it. and i'm pretty satisfied with the result.=)

Well, Im not sure who else have met Chen May, but Andrew and I certainly have and we chatted with her and she certainly is a very very nice, humble, honest and down to earth girl...

It so happen that Andrew's bro was having an evangelistic christmas dinner.. and I think someone from the bible study group invited CM. So then Andrew introduced me to her and was I was so surprised to know her then, and also of course that they are engaged to each other.

I love the post where you said in BGR, two should start out bearing in mind that the outcome would be marriage.. which also cause us to be serious before committing yourself in a relationship. Unfortunately, very few have these stand. But Andrew and I are so proud of you, as we started out that way too.. It was not love at first sight but rather, out of obedience and submission to God as we choose each other to be our gf/bf. Andrew's bro (who is a pastor) told him that in choosing me to be his gf, I should also be his prospect wife (hehe, which helped alot).

ya, relationships are hard work... it takes time and effort to build a relationship. but i believe that it's worth it in the end... to truly know and love someone, and be truly known yet loved in return.

in some ways i'm glad that i didn't start trying out boy-girl relationships when i was younger. looking back at myself at secondary school age, i doubt that i would have been able to adequately sustain such a relationship. because at that point i was, believe it or not, even more immature than i am now...=)

i really look up to ppl like yoke li and tze liang (those of my generation will recognise these names...heheh). they were married last year, having been together for about 9 years, since yoke li was in form 2 if i'm not mistaken. wow... =P

since i last logged on the forum, i've gone for:
1. young teens camp (melaka)
2. klang school christian fellowship (scf) leaders' training (klang)
3. music, arts and drama camp (ipoh)

haha, school hols are a busy time for me as that's when all the camps are. =)

besides that, i've also spoken at a scf meeting at sri garden private school... my first time speaking as a staff of Scripture Union. =)

i'll be going to an inter-scf meeting for seremban schools this saturday... will be speaking to them, too. =)
