Moving to Paris with my family will be one of the biggest step of my life.
I have to face a lot of objection from my parents.
I was very cool while talking to them so that I could avoid any direct confrontation. I was happy that I managed to handle the situation.:)
Finally both my parents give me their blessing to go.

My heart was so heavy. It was an emotional moment for me.

Resigned from my job 2 weeks ago.
Just sold my house.
Trying to sell my cars later.

Currently my focus is clearing out thing that I don't use in my house.
Giving it away to charitable organisation & people who can utilise it.

Not forgetting shopping for this & that.

All I can say is "It is not easy".

I agree fully with h2o. Most important is whole family are together. It will be a good experience for little VC. By the end of your 3 years stint there, he'll be 6 yrs old. Maybe he doesn't want to come back anymore, after finding his french chick.:D

They dun like S'pore girls, i think ....
When my eldest was in kindergarten in Ipoh, there's a girl in his class that he likes. She's very friendly and talkative, always talking to him, so he also like her lorr. In fact, i also like her...she's so cute, also always talk to me when i go to school to pick my son up.
FYI VC, children grow up very fast. You'll be surprised how much facts of life they'll learn once they are in school.

Voon Chan
04-21-2006, 11:57 AM
Very cute story you have there.
It is true that the will learn the fact of life very soon but i do hope that little VC can learn the correct facts of life

There's where the parents comes in, to guide the kids thru their growing years.
Tell you one more story....
2 months ago, my elest son was complaining to me about how his younger cousin sister was always disturbing and controlling him when he's playing with his toys. She kept giving instruction on how to play, cannot like this, cannot like that until he get fed-up. So i told him nvm laa...girls are sometimes like that. I was so surprised at his answer...."I don't like this type of girl" he said. Make me realise how much he has grown up, no longer my little baby.
Okok...back to topic, who's going to take care of little VC when he's in Paris? Put him at the daycare?

Voon Chan
04-21-2006, 01:53 PM
In the morning little VC will go to school
After that day care
Over in Paris, it is impossible to have a maid

but the ecole maternelle there is very good...
and kids do have very high standard care there...
so i'd say there would be less worry on that end...

Sis, the reason I start this thread is I felt a bit emotional after selling my house & all the talk with my parents.

It is not easy to leave everything that I have in M'sia & move on to another country. Especially my parents. Hard it may be, but as long as your doing what's best for the family, that's all that matters.....I'm sure your parents will understand soon even when their heart is heavy......... just keep in close touch with them...call them whenever u could to make it up....:)

Voon Chan

I will Sis, that is the least I can do for them.
I have allocated a sum of money to my parents which is enough for their 2 years expenditure.

Thank you everyone.
I have many reason for moving to Paris.
The main reason is both my wife & me have a chance to advance in our own career. Secondly, I was hoping that I can save more money by earning Euro. Thirdly, my son will have his early education in a better education system.

Those are my main reasons.

When you move away, little VC will start missing his toys, his home etc...
I recommend you to start taking pics and video clips of all his fav and familiar things and people so that when he feel homesick, he can start viewing them and talk about them.
When i just got to S'pore, my younger son also missed his old house very much. The older one less because he started going to Primary 1 at that time, he's too busy enjoying his new experience and new friends.

I am a little bit tired trying to sort out my thing in preparation to Paris.
I have given away a lot of little VC's things to people
My books, my sister will house them for me.
Don't your company provide you with a container or two to ship your stuff to Paris?

All the best VC! This song comes to mind:
Leaving On A Jet Plane"

I'm ... I'm ...

All my bags are packed, I'm ready to go
I'm standin' here outside your door
I hate to wake you up to say goodbye

But the dawn is breakin', it's early morn
The taxi's waitin', he's blowin' his horn
Already I'm so lonesome I could die

So kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you'll wait for me
Hold me like you'll never let me go

'Cause I'm leaving on a jet plane
I don't know when I'll be back again
Oh, babe, I hate to go

I'm ...

There's so many times I've let you down
So many times I've played around
I'll tell you now, they don't mean a thing

Every place I go, I think of you
Every song I sing, I sing for you
When I come back I'll wear your wedding ring

So kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you'll wait for me
Hold me like you'll never let me go

'Cause I'm leaving on a jet plane
I don't know when I'll be back again
Oh, babe, I hate to go

Now the time has come to leave you
One more time, oh, let me kiss you
And close your eyes and I'll be on my way

Dream about the days to come
When I won't have to leave alone
About the times that I won't have to say ...

Oh, kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you'll wait for me
Hold me like you'll never let me go

'Cause I'm leaving on a jet plane
I don't know when I'll be back again
Oh, babe, I hate to go

And I'm leaving on a jet plane
I don't know when I'll be back again
Oh, babe, I hate to go

But I'm leaving on a jet plane
(Ah ah ah ah)
Leaving on a jet plane
(Ah ah ah ah)
Leaving on a jet plane
(Ah ah ah ah)
Leaving on a jet plane
(Ah ah ah ah)
Leaving on a jet plane
(Ah ah ah ah)
Leaving on a jet plane
(Ah ah ah ah)
Leaving on a jet plane
(Ah ah ah ah)
Leaving on a jet plane
(Ah ah ah ah)
(Leaving) On a jet plane

Note: nice song, no gay intentions! :squeeze:

Ya.. old song covered umpteen times.. most recently heard in Armagedon when Ben Affleck and the others sang it before blasting into space!
Well, at least now you don't have to 'yearn' for your wife when she's on long assignment in Paris!:amused:

The rental in Paris will kill me.
A small shop can cost up to thousands of EURO.
To start up a business there will at least cost me Euro200k (RM900k).

I think If I can start a business in Paris, I can take the money back to M'sia & retire. If there is someone would like to sponsor me, I would consider:)

I am counting my days in M'sia. It will be very soon before I go
Feeling a little bit sad to leave all my family members & friends behind
Try to meet a few of them every week to say goodbye to them

I love M'sia very much but I need to work towards my future
