Hello my 99-er frenz...
Its great to see more of u coming in & posting! Lets keep up the spirit k...rather than just 'lurking' around :p
isn't this a great way to keep in touch, plan gatherings etc? anyway...i think so.

ok this is what i created this thread for...for 99ers to 'register' themselves. do share ur real name, and a brief description of where u r & what u r doing :)

and chui lin...having nicks does not necessarily mean we dont love our names...i LOVE mine loads :) and was using it for a while as log-on name...before opting for a switch. but i still do love it...esp as i have found out the meaning

i believe chung ming attempted...but the thread has gone quite awry. i will update the first post from tims to time...till then, come & Register ur good selfs! Cheerios!

1/ LAVA GAL (Lavanya) - Still a student, with no income yet...currently in IMU Seremban, but will be heading further south soon...pretty much a nomadic life :p since after STPM

2/ AH BOH (Sia Guen Boh) - Working as accounts supervisor in Bandar Raya Developments Berhad in KL and studying partime for CIMA.

3/ Adele Chee. Management Trainee in Unilever. Office is in posh Menara TM, 16 floors below Daimler Chrysler where all the hot babes and hunks are and i'm not just talking about 'em cars!! a bit of history, was in ACS from STD 1 - Form 5. did Form 6 (sadly) in SMK Sultan Abdul Samad, PJ. Got a BSc (BioChemistry) from University of Malaya. SMKSAS is across the road from UM where when you're there, all the teachers are expecting you to aim yourself to get into that uni - you can use the nearest main entrace (UM has 5entrances) which is called the PJ gate. Menara TM is next UM where you can access it via the Bangsar gate although most know it as the KL gate. so basically, since moving here, my life have been evolving in this area. come to think of it still, since i was little, i always hang out in Damansara area and i know it like i know how to say, "buy me this!!" hehe... so it's really frustrating that i love this part of Selangor but have to live in an ulu part of it and travel to and fro EVERYDAY bracing the jam. sigh... what else is there to update? i'm no longer the fat and ugly duckling but have turned into a beautiful swan?? now, i think that's a tad too much but oh well, i was born to be so full of myself so i'm not gonna take that back. hah!

5/ Join in the list before i ge caught of "lurking" aroundedwardyong (Yong Keong Eng) - Currently in Detroit, MI working at Delphi world headquarters as global supply management. Graduated with business degree and now pursuing advance degree in engineering
Dun have gold like Ryan.....but i do keep few pieces of greenback :-).

6. Kiew Sieh Jin. after getting one measly A in stpm, thought of doing medic in russia. ended up studying psychology in ukm. (no, we can't read minds...) was a student counselor in methodist college for 8 months... my first "real job". currently a contract staff with Scripture Union, a Christian NGO.=)

6. Chui Li Ok, right.. intro... wer to start?? Well, I'm a ACS S'wan graduate.. haha
Ok, the past 5/6 years after Form 5, I have been kinda MIA, i think. I went to school in Hawaii! Yahooo...... love the beaches, people, food, beautiful scenery, but aeik... to the SUN.. but the good thing is.. people actually appreciate your tan. haha
Then, some BIG news... haha maybe surprise for some but OLD news to many. I got married in my third year of school. Don't worry. I still graduate in 4 years ... in Accounting, which I love. My hubby is from SIngapore. His name is Charlie. I still love him after 3 years! hahaha He's funny, really smart ( actually kinda computer geeky ), sweet, kind, religious (pretty important for me), and many more. :> He is doing his Master in BYU-Provo, Utah now. We have a baby girl. Her name is Kaylene and she is 18 months old now. She's adorable and really fun. She's my little angel.
As for me, I am working as an Accountant in a MultiLevel Marketing company called Unicity. Have been working there for 2 years. Don't think gonna change for a little while more. By the way, we are all in Utah, USA now.
That's a long intro but 6 years is a lot to catch up, i think. Well, love you all!

7. Sheng Wai Just a brief introduction:

I was Hydro Power Engineer with Siemens for almost 2 years , was paid pretty well but hated the work environment . Finally I succumbed to family pressure and my self passion for finance/accounting . Most of my relatives are in Finance line , and advice were given to me on my career path in this line. Since they are all doing very well in this field , and I thought that changing career would be a good choice at this age.

I am now with KPMG Singapore doing Merger & Acqusition + Financial Services Auditing/Advisory. The good thing of Big 4 in Singapore is , you get to travel extensively to Shanghai , Australia , Taiwan , Japan , US ..etc.
And initially I thought it would be nice to have lots of girls around. But end up , I got bored pretty fast because There's just too many of them , I cant even remember their names. Ration of 4: 1. Of course there's a few lovely ones , mainly from China , HK , and Malaysia . The Singaporeans are a little cocky. but hey we're just having fun ..so it's all good.

I am actually looking forward meeting more guy colleagues now.

Ok, right.. intro... wer to start?? Well, I'm a ACS S'wan graduate.. haha
Ok, the past 5/6 years after Form 5, I have been kinda MIA, i think. I went to school in Hawaii! Yahooo...... love the beaches, people, food, beautiful scenery, but aeik... to the SUN.. but the good thing is.. people actually appreciate your tan. haha
Then, some BIG news... haha maybe surprise for some but OLD news to many. I got married in my third year of school. Don't worry. I still graduate in 4 years ... in Accounting, which I love. My hubby is from SIngapore. His name is Charlie. I still love him after 3 years! hahaha He's funny, really smart ( actually kinda computer geeky :p ), sweet, kind, religious (pretty important for me), and many more. :> He is doing his Master in BYU-Provo, Utah now. We have a baby girl. Her name is Kaylene and she is 18 months old now. She's adorable and really fun. She's my little angel.
As for me, I am working as an Accountant in a MultiLevel Marketing company called Unicity. Have been working there for 2 years. Don't think gonna change for a little while more. By the way, we are all in Utah, USA now.
That's a long intro but 6 years is a lot to catch up, i think. Well, love you all!

Normally, someone will start a welcoming thread for a new member in introduction, to welcome him/her and for that individual to intro himself/herself. But it's ok to yak-yak about yourself in your yr thread as long as it's not under a discussion thread. Well, welcome aboard chuili.....and congrats for being a new mother. Good to know another fellow acsian doing well and happy abroad. Hope u'll continue to keep in touch with your yr mates, as well as getting to know other fellow acsians in the forum. it's time to fulfil some dreams too, learning something new, volunteer even...
i'm strongly for taking gap year if possible...
in fact, planning to do that myself after my postgrad...
even if i have to take out a loan to be able to take that gap year, i would...

as citizens of commonwealthy country, UK is a good choice...
you can get working holiday visa rather easily you know...
so work a bit to finance the travel that one takes... :)

Just a brief introduction:

I was Hydro Power Engineer with Siemens for almost 2 years , was paid pretty well but hated the work environment . Finally I succumbed to family pressure and my self passion for finance/accounting . Most of my relatives are in Finance line , and advice were given to me on my career path in this line. Since they are all doing very well in this field , and I thought that changing career would be a good choice at this age.

I am now with KPMG Singapore doing Merger & Acqusition + Financial Services Auditing/Advisory. The good thing of Big 4 in Singapore is , you get to travel extensively to Shanghai , Australia , Taiwan , Japan , US ..etc.
And initially I thought it would be nice to have lots of girls around. But end up , I got bored pretty fast because There's just too many of them , I cant even remember their names. Ration of 4: 1. Of course there's a few lovely ones , mainly from China , HK , and Malaysia . The Singaporeans are a little cocky. but hey we're just having fun ..so it's all good.

I am actually looking forward meeting more guy colleagues now.

How did I switch? Cuz I wanted to switch , and I convinced them I can do it , since they're willing to pay for my professional cert without any bonds, why not? They're paying quite okay , low in numbers but spending power is Singapore is all better so it's all good. Furthermore I dont have to pay rent yet for the moment , so it's even better.

How did I switch? Cuz I wanted to switch , and I convinced them I can do it , since they're willing to pay for my professional cert without any bonds, why not? They're paying quite okay , low in numbers but spending power is Singapore is all better so it's all good. Furthermore I dont have to pay rent yet for the moment , so it's even better.

Bout what BOh said , there's a quite a number of cool ppl here at the big 4 , rather diff from those in Malaysia. Sad to say. These guys are actually very charismatic and cool. And nope , I wont get soft of you girls. I am engineering trained !!

If your bro is coming in with Accouting Degree , He could do ICPA , ACCA or CPA Australia (alot of my colleagues doing this , but mainly because they have a degree from Australia and they want to be recognised)

Yeah, he's with EY Malaysia now. No big shakes but all MNCs look good in the beginning. At least they pay 80 cents per km for mileage.

Frankly speaking. I got a friend who's a senior with EY , she quit her job because of the lack of growth in EY. That's according to her. Well if you're talking about good financial exposure especially to banking and IPOs , then Singapore is the place for it.
And yes you're right , everyone usually do ACCA / CPA . I Dont have a choice though . But 1 of my colleague actually goes for CFA which I think is very cool. I am considering that too because my good friend's mom who's VP or GM with Goldman Sachs HK told me , they welcome CFA ppl. :) Who knows I might try my luck there!!
