that is waht i heard from my friends.
I am stuck with my current company for the last 13 years.
Maybe too chicken to try new territories.
My opinion, during first few years of career, people tend to hop more to get the rise or salary they expected. But as the career progress on, not much chance to hop as the alternatives is also limited. Just imagine, you can;t expect a finance director to hop job every 1-2 years???

As you hopped around, you should be moving up. So, like in a pyramid, there is actualy less space for you to move around as you go higher. Also, lonelier up there. :(

I agree with buff, not the paper. Companies normally want experience and in info you can bring in from your previous company, especially if it's a competitor company. They are willing to pay you for it. Whereas, if you stay in the same company, your boss don't see you as someone who can bring in much new ideas since you have been trained by the existing staff, and if everyone trained by the same system, they tend to think within the box. So not much new contribution unless your job is a routine one where practise makes perfect.

look at it from a high jumper, the more training will lead to greater height.

Not many bosses appreciate staff even if they're loyal. Bosses mainly concerned about $ coming in onli. So in my opinion, can jump just jump-lor, but make sure it's to a better place-laa. Bukan macam dari kuali masuk api!

frankly jumping does result in better pay..
can't get better offer, don't jump first lo..
sometimes jumping in the same area can't give much rise to the salary..
consider jumping into other field...

If you are aldy happy with your current job, still got good prospect, then don't jump. If you feel there's nothing more the company can offer you, or you the company, then it's time to jump.

Open your eye wide for tell-tale sign.
In my first job where i stayed for 5 years, there's 2 chemist more senior than me, I was the youngest. They have been there for more than 10 years and i don't think will ever leave. My manager was honest enough to tell me, only if she were promoted we will all have a chance to move up one level, and she doubt that will ever happen. So i see my prospect there stagnant... it's a medium sized organization, they won't create any more post for us...so i left.
2nd company got financial problem, always owe vendors money, finally owed us salary.

Poor jie jie, so cruel lah ur ex-company. :(
My case, each new job i get, my pay is getting higher. It's a fact, they want your expertise, they gotta offer better to make me leave my current contract.
About loyalty ah? No such thing one lah, it's a deal ma. Loyalty sounds more like "autocracy" in Malaysia loh in my opinion especially in Old China-man style biz.
Donald Trump says--> "You're FIRED! It's business, nothing personal"
So cruel hor, but the truth is, it's a business, we sell our service "SKILLS", if we don't get paid, we stop the deal.

I agree with u jie jie.
I heard this cruel statement from top management last time in one of my former company.
Staffs are like chess, i can hire/fire whenever i like. They leave? No big deal, i got money i can hire another one. So almost 90% of the staff left loh...hahahaha

My previous company owe us salary, but still always talk about staff loyalty. Go fly kite laaa...
But they still have a few pioneers who had no academic qualification but so highly paid that they cannot get the same offer elsewhere. These people always talk about loyalty, even though no salary. For us degree holders, we fly far far away liao. That time i'd rather become fulltime housewife than to continue getting cheatedcby them.
