View Full Version : Sinjapor Boleh Tak?

Sinjapor memang tak boleh lah! For starters, we drink fresh water, they drink recycled toilet water so that make us superior already!! hahaha...
Want to hear more singapore stories, buy me unlimited milo-kosong-ais and nasi lemak + ayam goreng, I can tell you all the bullshit attitude of a typical Sinjarporean from the day I found out that Sinjarporen are actually our neighbours from down under, yeah, you got me, down under, right next to my [EDITED: vulgar].
If people from far and away land dunno how to pronouce Genting, then we can forgive lah, but our neighbours, whom mostly were immigrants from Malaysia, after staying in Sinjarpore also cannot pronounce Genting. They call Jenting, that I cannot tahan lah.
When we go up north, dont tell me we also dunno how to pronouce their places of interest. We dont call "Phuket" as "[{*HUKI}EDITED: vulgar]" right?
But, all negative things sure got their positive side also lah. At least, their "CENSORSHIP" policy more lenient than ours. This forum is proof already.
What do you say?

well, i think singapore definitely BOLEH!!! ok, we've got allllllllll those complaints about how boring it is and how strict the government is and how the place is devoid of mamaks but consider this:
someone who is as calculative as turkey thinks it's worth it to work there for a couple of years and break out of the boredom by coming back to kl every single weekend by bus.

Pronouncing words is irritating but not enough to annoy us. What i dislike abt Singaporeans is the "high & mighty" attitude they seem to potray eventho they hv very little to show.
What most disgust me the most especially as Chinese is that Singaporeans old parents have the right to sue their children for maintenance money. What sort of children are they??? If their parents knew that this would happen, they wouldnt even think twice of killing the children and save them the heartache. To me, Singaporeans are losing the Chinese heritage and culture slowly but surely until one day, we call them only Singaporeans and not Chinese Singaporeans.
Today's Star came up with a write up abt blue collar working girls would hv a tough time finding marriage partners because most the guys are turning to Vietnamese, Thailand & Indonesian for better "Behaved" brides. Those ladies who earns SGD5000 - 7000 wouldnot give the guy the time of the day if does not fulfill the famous five Cs. These ladies, we shall live leave them alone (with their lonely "toys").
Enough for now.

Well....as much as we know abt the kiasu and kiasi attitude of the Singaporeans...the one thing dat we have to give to them is the fact dat they are really efficient......I guess this is the spin off from their kaisu nature.
I deal with various vendors from different part of the world ...Japanese, Koreans, Taiwanese, Americans and so forth but the most efficient lot (in general) are the Singaporeans...they are really a class act in this respect....but at times they can be a pain in the.....

The difference is the population's mindset. IMHO, though Singapore is developed nation with many nationalities in there, it seems that they are very westernised. I admire Japan & their people a lot. They are a developed nation and managed to re-build their country in a short span of time after the last World War. They have also managed to preserve their cultural heritage and traditions (e.g. onsen, religious events, annual kite flying and my favourite: SUMO WRESTLING). I guess the other difference is that, maybe, Sinjapor do not have heritages/cultures... (if I recall correctly)

daBoss,
I find it hard to take in your statement without a pinch of salt. A typical example are the government departments.....The Singaporean government actually hire the best and brightest to run the country but I can't say the same for Malaysia.....
You know....I went to the JPJ a couple of months back to transfer the ownership of my car to my wife and you cant imagine the number of forms required and the number of ppl we have to see....just to change ownership....totally inefficient....

Then later rumours also that the local authorities start to enforce it.... and the price shoot up to RM1200 - 1500 /mth... supply is less than demand.....

If I become PM of Malaysia, first thing I do is to turn off the tap, than we offer to sell them our pee at RM0.02 per cubic meter. Secondly, to impose similar charges to SG registered cars coming into JB @ RM60 a day and thirdly, traffic fines for SG registered cars to double and must pay before the leave Malaysian shores like what they do to us. This will only be the first part of the New Economic Policy plan. After that, dig a channel thru' Kuantan and come out thru' Kampung Aceh and make Lumut the major port!! Hahaha...... Malaysia Boleh!!

OK! Now I will tell more stories about our sinjarporean friends from down below, near my ding dongs. Of course, my stories are based on my experiences with them and I am sure not all of them are like that, but more than what you can find in Malaysia.
1) One day, my dear Sinjarporean colleagues was in town, at that time I was working in Uptown and we decide to go for a beer at one of the many pubs in Uptown. You know lah, the pubs down there got lots of ah lians whose job is to annoy the hell out of you and to waste your drinks so that you will buy more (but that is another story all together....). So, as we got into the pub, ordered our drinks and enjoying our beers, one of the Ah lians came up to my Sinjarporean colleague (who happens to be another chinaman who looks and dress no different from you and me) as asked him,"you work here around here ah?" This sinjarporean bugger replied,"Huh? work here? why? I look like Malaysian meh?" Wah lau!! I si pek cannot tahan!!!!
2) I was talking to this big time Regional Director of a MNC Software company based in Sinjarpore and he is a Sinjarporen. He said it was very difficult hiring good sales people in Malaysia. And I ask him why, he said,"Only Sinjarpore you can find good sales people, there is none in malaysia. Those that are good, are all hired and is working in Sinjarpore already!!" Wah Lau!! I hear this statement even more tulan.
3) I always thought that Penang is Kiam Siap Island, you will find the most number of kiam siap people per sq km than anywhere else in the world...but I was wrong. About sometime last year, when I was working for a local reseller, I went to Sinjarpore for a visit and decided to pay a visit to some of my vendors. They are all big, reputable American owned software companies but with their regional HQ in Sg. 1st occation, I made an appointment to meet the rep who was taking care of Malaysia for dinner, when we met, he brought his whole gang. We went to a restaurant, in the "pineapple biulding", all order food and beer like nobody's business, when the bill came, somemore buat dunno. What made me tulan is, that bugger can somemore critisize our market and say our business too small for him!! I was having casual talk on how he can assist us to grow his business in Malaysia, instead, he ask me to write a proposal to him and he will consider!! Niama...!!!
4) I had a business lunch with another Regional Director of a large American owned software company, also based in Sinjarpore. He decided to eat in this nice looking chinese restaurant. Somemore, it was a courtesy call and we were there to give him a commitment for a huge order. When the bill came, he also buat dunno and look at me, so I have to pay the bill!! Even more tulan! Really no hospitality. Give him order somemore must buy him lunch like we are the host!!
5) About 2 months ago, my brader was in sinjarpore with me and we went out partying with some friends. One of my friends girlfriend was talking to my brader for a while and ask him,"which school did you study last time?", my brader answered,"I am not from Sg, I am from Malaysia." You know what she answered? "Wah!! Malaysian also can speak english so well ah?" Niama!! This I maximum tulan! They only think Sinjarporeans only know how to speak english!!

SINGAPORE, : Singaporeans need to shed their "arrogance" and "air of superiority" if they are to further improve relations with China, a former Chinese ambassador to the prosperous city-state said in comments reported on Thursday.
Chen Bioliu, who was China's envoy to Singapore from 1997 to 2000, told a business forum in Beijing on Wednesday that Singaporeans were often perceived as lauding their English language skills and international experience over Chinese mainlanders.
"I hope my Singaporean friends can drop their arrogance and the Chinese can let go of their pride," the Straits Times newspaper here quoted her as saying.
"This way we can co-operate hand in hand and create a win-win situation. We can go further this way."
The newspaper said she acknowledged Singaporeans speak better English, live in a more developed country and are more familiar with foreign cultures than people in China.
She described these assets as Singapore's "capital", but warned China was catching up fast.
"Capital can be devalued in time. In past decades, China has developed and now the Chinese also speak some English and have some exposure to foreigners," Chen said.
Chen's comments reflect the fears of some in government here, with senior officials previously warning people they must do more to dop the "ugly Singaporean" image that many people in neighbouring countries have of them.
The Straits Times, which is the biggest selling newspaper in Singapore and rarely strays from government opinion, carried the report prominently on page three accompanying a story on Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong's current visit to China.
Singapore, a tiny but wealthy nation, is the only country in Southeast Asia with a majority Chinese population, a legacy of immigration policies under the former British colonial government.
Chen told her audience she was speaking "freely" after being constrained as ambassador, according to the Straits Times, but she also appeared to tone down her comments by commenting on what links the two countries.
"There are blood ties, a common language and culture. These 'three commons' explain why China and Singapore enjoy a special relationship," she said. - AFP

aik, my name is original ok... :p and the PhD is still light years away (hopefully brain not fried by that stage)...lol...
anyway, that's besides the point... i supposed i only know a very small subset of singaporeans, so can't judge everyone...
there's arrogant people everywhere, and i think the worse offenders are people from cities...
went home on holiday, went shopping, salesgirl rude like siao... looking as if i won't be able to buy anything from the shop...
then as i started speaking english (foreign accent showing - not show off, need about 2-3 weeks to adopt back fully local accent after being away)..
immediately showed me all the latest style, and exclaimed that they'd look perfect on me... what kind of attitude is that?
so, still town like sitiawan is much better, friendly people everywhere... :)

A Pakistani, a Malaysian and a Sinjaporean were caught smuggling in Saudi Arabia. They were brought in front of King Fadh for sentencing.
"The punishment for your crime is 30 lashes," said the King.
"Since I am in a good mood today, I will grant each of you one wish
before the punishment."
"Your Royal Highness, I want to have a pillow tied to my back," requested the Pakistani. "Your wish is granted," said the King.
Unfortunately, at the 25th lash, the pillow fell off the back of the Pakistani. He got 5 painful lashes on his back.
"Your Royal Highness, I want to have 2 pillows tied to my back," asked the Sinjaporean. "Your wish is granted," replied the King.
Again unfortunately, this time, the pillows fell off the Sinjaporean's back at the 29th lash. He got one painful lash on his back.
"I see, you are a Malaysian," the King said. "In view of the very good relationship between Malaysia and Saudi Arabia, I make an exception to grant you 2 wishes instead."
"Thank you for your kindness. Your Royal Highness, may I have 60 lashes as my punishment?" the Malaysian asked.
"I am surprised, but it is up to you," said the King. "What is your second wish?"
"Your Royal Highness, I want the Sinjaporean tied to my back," the Malaysian requested. Ends

I cannot agree with daboss dat Malaysians are on the way there, sooner or later. [EDIT WHOLE SENTENCE].
Singapore govt is the biggest devil of all as they are the one who make Singapore today, including its people... the way they think, live and behave. They make sure that the people has money to spend and enjoy themselves to the fullest so long as they stay away from politics. [EDIT WHOLE SENTENCE].
Singaporeans only love to compete even among christians or churches! Because the republic is so small, the govt has no choice but to "intoxicate" its people minds to make sure that they are absolutely strong in their mind. Thats why singaporeans look down on most people especially malaysians.
u guys remember about the "if i have a gun wif two bullets, what will i do if i see a snake and a singaporean"?
cheers,

Is it true that Sinjaporians generally dislikes Malaysians? I have the feeling whenever I go across the causeway. They see me no up :( Must be my clothings that have no designer logos.Yes, it is very very true. Somehow, some of those genuine Singaporeans who are born and lived in Singapore have this mindset that they are the superier ones and they dislike Malaysians partly because of some [EDIT].
Of course if you are lucky, you will meet up with good singaporeans

BTW, I think there are more at the Beach Club,Twelve SI, Bangkok Jam and the list goes on around that area. Hang around there and give your eyes a never ending feast (especially in the weekend). Weeweechu
One beautiful December evening Huan Cho and his girlfriend Jung Lee were sitting by the side of the ocean. It was a romantic full moon, when Huan Cho said "Hey baby, let's play Weeweechu."
"Oh no, not now, lets look at the moon" said Jung Lee.
"! Oh, c'mon baby, let's you and I play Weeweechu. I love you and it's the perfect time," Huan Cho Begged.
"But I rather just hold your hand and watch the moon."
"Please Jung Lee, just once play Weeweechu with me."
Jung Lee looked at Huan Chi and said, "OK, we'll play Weeweechu." !
Huan Cho grabbed his guitar and they both sang.....
"Weeweechu a Merry Christmas, Weeweechu a Merry Christmas,
Weeweechu a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year."
AND SO DO I!

A family in the Sinjapor werepuzzled when the coffin of their dead grandmother arrived from the States. It was sent by one of the daughters. The dead body was so tightly squeezed inside the coffin, with no space left in it! When they opened the lid, they found a letter on top, which read as follows:
Dear Cousins,
I am sending Ahma body to you since it was her wish that she should be cremated in the compound of our ancestral home in Tung Shin.
Sorry, I could not come along as all of my paid leaves are consumed.
You will find inside the coffin, under Ahma's body, 12 cans of Yohmeitsu, 10 packets of Swiss chocolates and packet of Chinatown Lap Cheong. Please
divide these among all of you.
On Ahma's feet you will find a new pair of Nike Air shoes (size 10) for Ah Boy. Also, there are 2 pairs of shoes for Ah Mei's and Ah Lien's sons. Hope the sizes are correct. Ahma is wearing 6 Calvin Klein T-shirts. The large size is for Ah Bak and the others are for my nephews. Just distribute them among
yourselves.
The 2 new Armani jeans that Ahma is wearing are for the boys. The Rolex watch that Lee Ah Bai wanted is on Ahma's left wrist. Kiasu Aunty Pei Pei, Ahma is wearing the Tiffany necklace, earrings and ring that you asked for. Please take them. The 6 white Polo cotton socks that Ahma is wearing must be divided among my teenage counsins.
Let me know what else you need as Ahkong is also not keeping well nowadays..... I can send all required things when our Ahkong goes back too......
