We were talking during the recent meet up and someone suggested that a break to Redang would be nice.

So .. here are the preliminary details..

Up to you to decide if you wan to take bus or flight. Will arrange for pickup. Meet at jetty.

Twin Sharing : RM 490

Kids 4-11 got 50% discount...

Cost includes lodging + makan. + snorkelling. Transportation and snorkelling equipment not included tho'.

Rental of snorkel+mask and lifevest is RM10 for the duration of stay.

Definitely should go by flight. Otherwise too far a drive, and too tired to enjoy by the time you arrive. Diving there is great, lots of colourful giant clams. Also, probably the best beach (Pasir Panjang) and clearest water that I have ever swam in. If I remember correctly, I stayed and dived with Coral Redang Resort.

bus @ the mall opposite station- RM30/way, to fro = RM60 in total. take nite bus b4 arrival date in island, 11.30pm bus, arrival KT'ganu @ 5-6am (depending hw fast the bus driver drives in midnite/wee hrs).
coming back = pls take 2pm bus is the best time cuz, last boat going out from island is 11am, reach bus station is ngam2 ho, no need to lurk arnd the bus station with NOTHING TO DO AND WAIT TIME PASS.

flight - earliest 7.45am KLIA, take taxi there also RM70 (b4 6am, is peak hrs price), arrival 45mins @ KUAH town.
resort bus driver will come pick up at the airport, then take another 45mins to reach the mgment office or straight goes to jetty. jetty to island = 45-1hr ride, depending speed boat starts at earliest 9.30am.
why earliest flight go, cuz other times wld be close to 12pm, by the time u arrive island, you already wasted 1day of fun.

balik time for flight - timing abit different. pls go check out www.airasia.com.my flight schedule (KLIA-KT-KLIA). the resort bus driver wld jst drop u at airport and u wait for time pass/lurk with NOTHING TO DO also.

if you want to drive, 5-6hrs cuz its ure 1st time driving to KT and u might get lost in middle of the nite, even you bawak map also ure unsure which route to use. KT routes are confusing and no1 at jalan raya.
if u insist to drive and found the way to KT, must go mgnt office, den go jetty. at jetty, u can park ure car there, rental per day charges. then off u go....

Tips:

Leave your kids at home if you truly want to enjoy the outings to the fullest. If you just want to sit by the beach...hmm....very wasteful to go Pulau Redang.

Quite true also. Running after them is not one of the fun things to do there. hehehe.

Anyways... another tip. Please bring motion sickness pills along if you are prone to it. I know I will bringing some for myself.

VC, if you have a chance take a trip to Long Beach. The island opposite Perhentian Resort. Crytal clear water, food is good and if you are a party animal, you can party till 5.00 a.m. You can hire a boat to take you back to Perhentian Resort when you are done. Snorkelling on the left hand side of Long Beach is pretty nice. You can see juvenile white tip shark (reef shark) when snorkelling on the West side of the island.

Please refrain from carrying the baby sharks. One young lady lost her right breast after being bitten by the baby shark during a photography session. She was holding it like a toddler in her arms.

Well guys

A responsible snorkeller or diver would not touch any marine life which includes the coral because the acid from our finger would damage the pigmentation of the marine life. The lady who was holding the baby shark got what she deserves. Anyone who wish to take photo with sharks, should sit and wait, should the sharks refuse to oblige, so be it. Remember we are a guest in their environment and we should respect them.
