Bad driving irritates us most

KUALA LUMPUR: Driving like a maniac, queue jumping and spitting in public – these are the top three peeves for Malaysians.

According to a survey by Reader's Digest Asia, Malaysians listed these three habits when asked what riled them most.

The survey, conducted in September and October this year, sampled some 3,600 respondents across Asia from Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Indonesia and South Korea.

Respondents were asked to rate each of 20 common irritants suggested by the survey on a sliding scale – extremely irritating, irritating, a little irritating or not irritating at all.

According to the results of the survey, bad driving grumbled its way to the top of the list, with 86% of respondents agreeing that it should be the “winner”.

Respondents in Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand and South Korea also agreed that bad drivers spoil their days.

Queue jumping vaulted to second place in Malaysians' rankings and was also high on the list among Asian respondents.

Spitting in public earned third placing with 84% of respondents deeming it an irritating habit.

In addition, poor customer service at shops or restaurants also infuriates people – it scored 82%. Using profanities and curses ranks eighth on the list with 74%.

Those who speak loudly into their mobile phones should also keep their voice down as 66% of respondents find their behaviour extremely irritating.

There are also surprises – the survey found that hard to open plastic wrapping on an item annoyed people tremendously, with 40% of respondents labelling it as either extremely irritating or irritating.

the type of people who takes things for granted, thinking we owe him/her a miilion bucks in his/her previous life, thick skined, parasite sucking a little drop of blood at a time, AND despite gentle hinting that it should not be that way, blo*dy hell, still acted like nothing happen, and continues to be the a**hole....

Looks like nobody irritated by plastic wrapping that you can't open. I hardly ever had a problem with those things as I always have a pocket knive with me all the time.

Yes, i very agree oso that, pushing ppl at critical times oni make them loss of control. That time not thinking but main tembak oni doing things. I'm "soldier" in that kind of battlefield before. Mati tembak b4 could tembak anyone. :laugh:
