wow daboss 15 years, now that is a thot.....next pet, turtles? Actually my son really wanted to get them one Saturday, he even had two names thought out, Schubert and Stanley and a welcoming banner done and talked mommy and daddy into getting them, but when we finally got to the pet shop, tarak the turtles (tiny box ones) that we had in mind.... so we had forgotten about them... SO when my last goldfish "dissapeared" from the fish tank, both mummy and kiddo shed a tear and the next day, mommy came back with six little adorable goldfishes...we recycled the names, so we have schubert halfdozen, stanley halfdozen, golden halfdozen, perfect halfdozen, tiger halfdozen and redhead halfdozen..... plus muddy mud sucker, did i put anyone to sleep? :)
lil, sorry to hear bout your pets .... mebbe they thot it was abandoned????

I have kois (they are quite big now since I have kept them for over 5 years I think... and a dirt sucker. Used to have 2 of that but one jumped out from the pond recently...really sayang. Found it all dried up beside the pond. It must have been about a kilo easily.
I also have peacock fish....gave up on all the other types cos the other fish eat the peacock babies....and I have too many of them to name......
No swordfish..tried keeping them a couple of years ago but tak jadi. :( Dunno why. I remember when I used to keep them as a kid, they were always multiplying and cross breeding...

.PP any kambing stories to share with us??? :D
...

How's this:

Kambing the first
long time ago when small & walking back from school with a bunch of other kids, we used to cross the road and pass in front of the Pioneer Church then the Siamese Temple. between those two there used to be a big patch of tall grass on the other side of the longkang, and for some time there used to be a big fat billy goat and a nanny goat munching the lalang. After a bit the goats had three or four kids and the billy goat got more protective and aggressive, and used to chase the kids away. i remember once we were so frightened of it (most of us under 10 yrs old) we ran away, and the goat chased and butted one of the kids (but not hurt, just very frightened).

Kambing the second
i think after a while the kambings got fed up and decided to move further towards the Kg Koh Shell petrol station. at that time it was still very safe and we didn't feel the need to close the front gate. imagine when the children were squeaking and woke my MA up from her nap one afternoon because the nanny goat came into the garden, ate the cili padi bush and our starfruit tree. the cili padi re-grew and was OK for many years, but the starfruit tree was all botak, though the leaves grew back, we never had any edible sized fruits on it....EVER!

Do you know how the 'poot-poot' of the kambings like? Some say it looks like 'tau-sar', some said like M&M's chocolate candies. Can you comfirm?

BTW, this is the animal all stock traders would love to hate:

Once upon a time, there were two lizards called Cicak Kambing and Cicak Kobing. They were best of friends. One fine evening while on their routine 'amoibugs' hunting, they encountered an unusual sight of a lady bug called 'amoibug'. The butt is so big that it aroused Cicak Kobing. It was then Cicak Kambing challenged Cicak Kobing to catch the 'amoibug'. So, both the Cicaks waited patiently until the 'amoibug' came really close to the wall. Slurp!! Cicak Kobing sticked it's tongue out to the limit....unfortunately it missed. Cicak Kambing were elated and chuckled with a loud noise;Ci! Ci! Cak!! Cak!!!.

This spurred Cicak Kobing not to give up, so it waited for a second chance. This time the 'amoibug' came close again...but not close enough for Kobing's tongue to reach. So, Cicak Kobing launched all his energy and power and surged towards the 'amoibug'.....piak it missed again and landed on the ground. Cicak Kambing was so elated and happy and started clapping....guess what happened next?

Kisah Ayam dan Lembu

Seorang kaya duduk termenung di dalam sebuah restoran. Wajahnya serius seperti memikirkan sesuatu.

"Kenapa semua orang mengatakan aku kikir.

Aku memberikan manusia dagingku. Aku turut memberikan mereka bulu-buluku. Bahkan mereka memasak dan membuat sup dengan kakiku untuk kesihatan. Tidak ada haiwan yang berbakti sebegitu banyak seperti itu. Kenapa aku masih tidak dihargai?"

"Adakah tuan tahu apa jawapan sang lembu?,"tanya si pelayan itu kepada orang kaya tersebut. Orang kaya yang mendengar cerita itu dengan penuh perhatian hanya menggeleng kepala.

"Sang lembu berkata tenang, "Mungkin kerana aku memberikannya sewaktu aku masih hidup..."

Moral:

Berbuatlah kebajikan sementara kita masih hidup dan sihat. Jangan menunggu ketika kita sudah meninggal dunia, baru mengharapkan orang lain menghargai kita untuk suatu kebaikan yang kita lakukan. (Anonymous)

Now my turn to cerita....
Yesterday my gal's pet tortoise, Tobias escaped from his container. We are all still stupefied as to how he got himself out of the container....lesson: tortoise can scale plastic walls. Anyway, Tobias is about 2++ inches long and his home is about 7 inches tall. The container is placed on a table about 2 feet from the table. It was Daniel who noticed that he was missing...we searched everywhere...couldn't find him. Funny thing was he didn't turn turtle crawling out from the container, then getting off the carrom table which was placed on the table and finally from the table to the floor. So we searched and searched...tak jumpa also....inside, outside..den I saw him, all legs in, looking really scared, near the piano. Earlier Daniel was playing the piano, he must have been under it..and he must have thought his world was crashing onto him...anyway, now I have to start looking for a taller home for him....

amelia dear, do u hav a table on a table? I was trying to imagine the scene... Friend of ours got 2 tiny turtles, then proceeded to get the whole schbang at least 10 gallon glass aquarium complete with rocks for sunning, water, decor.... I imagine the water changing will be quite a task for that palatial turtle home. Mebbe he just needs a companion and a small plastic aquarium with cover... :) what do u feed him?

carrom board on a table...that's supposed to be a climb for a small tortoise...then the table to the floor...that's a big drop for a tiny tortoise. I feed it tortoise food...gourmet style... :D
agreed. Need to find a new home for the tortoise of ours. But at the moment...too preoccupied with worries about flooding. Water level has been rising in towns nearby. This morning alone, some houses in the next town went under water. So got to be on the lookout. The river near our place is swelling and the current is really fast... :(

yep! there is semblance of normalcy. Power returned on Christmas Eve. Then water was cut again but we got it back yesterday afternoon. All in all it's been an experience that has been priceless! Did not get proper sleep for about 4-5 days. Kept getting up to see how much the water was rising. Learnt that cycling is a great way to get round in flood waters. Much faster and cannot mati engine.... :D . Made friends, learnt to be more patient and also to count our blessings. In some areas of our housing estate, water was chest deep. Our house was spared. Water rose about 5 inches on our road but did not enter the porch....ours one of the few houses tak kena at all. At the height of the flood, we had boats and jetskis on our roads. Will post the pictures we took later...

A friend of mine could still use her auto gate on the 6th day of power cut. Mine doesn't have that sort of backup but it has a manual overide, so still could open. As for water, I am having a 1000 litre tank installed in the coming weeks so that I have spare in case of long water cut. BTW, I've emailed you some pics of the flood.

A friend of mine could still use her auto gate on the 6th day of power cut. Mine doesn't have that sort of backup but it has a manual overide, so still could open. As for water, I am having a 1000 litre tank installed in the coming weeks so that I have spare in case of long water cut. BTW, I've emailed you some pics of the flood.
well, once the whole taman got no electricity, the front gates couldn't open into the taman (dunno about manual overdrive) so we went for dinner and came back.wow 1000L tank... good to have. thanks for the pics. btw how did the pets do? :)

Everything is back to normal now....you can't see any signs of the flood save for the markings on the wall...even the smell of mud is slowly going away...we're kinda hoping for rain to wash it all away but weather forecast is not too hopeful...anyway, here's a Happy New Year Wish to everyone... :D

poor kois! when sitiawan flooded, my dad's kois survived except one escaped into the floodwaters and could not be tracked down - so now he's free!!

i think the flooding is in NOrthern California - mona is in LA, right? should not be affected i think. Northern California when we were out there it rained 6 out of the 9 days we were there! and i don't think it's stopped raining since we came back to ohio almost a week ago! when we were driving around, we were abit worried about mudslides and whatnot...now seems it is coming true..

amelia7

they died because of the power cut...we had no power for 6 days. By the second they they were gone. And I've had them for 7 years. They were about 3-4 inches then. Some grew to about 1 1/2 feet!

yep! mona is in LA...

my number one is around there...character wise, number 2 is more laid back and fun now (mebbe becos he is only 2 too) or are most number 2s that way, cos we parents hav it more figured out? but they mostly like the same stuff, do the same things, amazing....

My one opposite...elder one very laidback. Must tolak-tolak. Otherwise tak jalan. The gal...that one can move herself. Always up to something. More social, I'd say. The bro...he can be there and no one will know he is there. Two poles apart, both of them. :smile-2:
