It's amazing to see over thousands of posting in such a short period of time. :)

But do we really have a freedom of speech to say whatever we want in this forum? Some forumers have encountered me to express their dissatisfaction in this area particularly where their posting were 'indiscriminately' censored and it thwarted the whole meaning of their posting.

Perhaps this thread will give a leeway for those who felt being discriminated to voice out their feelings.

Mods, please do not rush in to censor everything what these people are about to post and I believe we should at least allow them to express their views at full length.

I completely agree with "The Godfather". This forum is turning very boringgggggg...... Firstly, lets us relook at the objective of this forum:-

1) Keeping in touch with long lost class/school mates
2) Creating a renewed bonding for those who has left their motherland/kampung in pursue of their goals and dreams.
3) Also to those who has lost touch of their old friends in the course of pursueing their career whereby new friends are made and old friends are forgotten.
4) Alternative mode of communication other than the OPA which meets once a year during CNY and majority of the members are yours and my parents.
5) And most importantly, Tok Kok and have fun!!!

However, if the 'Tok Kok and have fun" objective is removed, this forum will be one boring dead place and bet you, it will not survive to see the light of day and all effort is lost as not everybody is interested to just read a serious post from somebody else whom they have nothing to do with.

The youngest members in this forum are from the class of 98 which effective made them 23yo this year and in another month, they will be 24yo which is way above the legal age of 18. Therefore, a little bit of tolerance in "fun" posting should be allowed to make this forum a more relax and fun place to be in.

Our government has a policy of not cencoring the internet as we are progressing into a more modern society where each of us can think for ourselves, so why are we censoring excessively in this forum when most of us here are a lot smarter than the general Malaysian public? Porn is readily available in the net (check out [EDIT]) but a few [EDIT] and [EDIT] here and there is cencored. I even have post which are censored so heavily until the entire post doesnt make any sense or the main message of the post has been distorted.

To all the moderators, I know most of you are as cheeky as me but dont be too over zealous doing your job. I know most of you are as capable as me to make this place more lively and make those post interesting to read which will attract the number of readership back again and again. Although most of the members will only read your post and not reply, you know that they are enjoying the post and having a good time. Have a look at some post whereby there are less than 30 posting but more than 800 viewing. This clearly shows that the threads are interesting, otherwise, you wont get so many viewings.

Anyway, my suggestion for the moderators that they should keep an eye out for postings which is more detremintal to the overall health of this forum like:-

1) Personal Attacks and online quarrels.
2) Sensitive remarks over religion and race

Fellow human beings, God almighty is great!! he created man with a brain so that we can design computer and the internet and create a forum, he created fingers so that we can type to express ourselves. Finally, he created women, for us men to admire...but when we express it using the computer, internet and forum which derived from the smart thinking brain he gave us, some smart alec decides to censor it, so, does this make the ppl who has the power to censor is satan, defying God's creation? a few points before i respond to your post:

1. i've got to say that of all the members in this forum, i enjoy reading your posts the most (even the big-head director told me that he's amazed that you write so well - ask buffy, turkey and cireria who was there with me when the director said so...)
2. of the members in this forum, your posts are the only ones containing terms that i think is not so healthy (linkinfark's almost at your level :))
3. you know me well enuf to know that my spoken language is almost as colorly as yours

anyway...


Firstly, lets us relook at the objective of this forum:-
1) Keeping in touch with long lost class/school mates

tok kok and have fun doesn't require using the terms you have been using that have been censored.

1) Profanity and language do not make the forum. Content and quality of the threads do. I agree that most of the threads in the General n KPC are cartoon threads. I guess....the thing that we need to realize is that this is a very general forum and therefore, not really appropriate for profanity in some degree.

2) I personally don't care about the language but i am sure that there are some that do.I guess the best solution is to create another specialize section for adults with open mind.Da_boss....would it be possible for you to create a new section called something like "Free Zone" only for members, and post a sign that in that zone that this zone, anything goes. Self censorship will be pratice in that forum. Moderators will only step in if it gets personal.

1) Profanity and language do not make the forum. Content and quality of the threads do. If the threads are boring, why don't interested parties step up to the plate and chip in some ideas. No point sitting on the sideline and complain.
Most of the threads in General and KPC are cartoon threads anyway.

But what I would appreciate is the super moderators to exercise some form of common sense before censoring anything. So far they have been doin ok...

Anyway, the heck i care about self moderation as I shall continue to write as I please and the moderators has to work extra hard to make sure they check all my post weekly, daily or even hourly without fail to edit my language. They must also do work lah, otherwise give title as moderator for what?

So, for those luck few who are the first to read my post before it is censored, you guys are lucky lah. It is like watching Tarzan many many years ago when Bo Derek was Jane, we all got to watch the video tape and saw her assets in all her glory before my mum consficated the tape (another form of censorship). God knows how many times we rewind and pause. Unfortunately, those days, the VCR player got no zoom and you know lah, this was before the VCD/DVD 5 star movies were readily available and to see a nipple, i tell you, was like watching Rocco Sifreddie [EDITED: profanity] one of his eastern europe chicks!!

Anyway, the last sentence above is going to get snipped very soon, so those of you who can tell me what was the message after it gets censored, wins a cup of teh ping from me!!!

I agree Dino to a great extent. We need quality thread & posting. I know we cannot impose everyone to post only quality material, if we do, no member will remain in this forum.

On the other hand, I agree with Fulat (evnthough I do not have the privilege to read his unedited version of posting) that censorship may distort the true meaning of the posting. If members exercise care in their posting by choosing the appropriate language to express what they want than the issue of censorship does not arises.

This is a fun forum that we would like to continue to share our thought with our friends. A place we can release our tension & have a good laugh reading nonsense posted.

We are all adults, We should not be too sensitive when we read a line or two containing profanity. In our society, it is very common we hear such vulgar words being used in public. We cannot walk up to a stranger and say "You can say that #*%# words. Can we edit what they have said? What then will happen to us? All of us should learn to tolerate one another in a public forum like this. That does not give us the license to be offensive too.

To members & moderators exercise care. Exercise censorship as and when required. I think everyone is doing fine at the moment.

Personally, i believe every single person should excersise free speech and express how he/she feels. I am not a fan of censorship. I get annoyed by censorship myself. But bear in mind that everyone of us needs to realize that there needs to be a line drawn somewhere when we are talking about a forum this general. This happens to be an alumni forum. Its a GENERAL forum. I don't expect to go to Harry Potter movie and expect those kids taking turns banging the be-jezus out of each other.

If talking about sex is your motivation to come here, then i think you probably chose the wrong place to do it. Heck, there are millions of porn sites with forums you can participate in.

If you stand in the public place and started talking loudly about profanities, you are surely to get stares. But if are in a all-hands-profanity club meeting...by all means, knock yourself out!!! Heck, have a stripper while at it, i don't care!!

Bottom line....feel free to excersise your right to free speech, but please extend some courtesy to others. :)

Dino has some sense on this. This is not a place to talk about porn. I mean if you are writing and the vulgar word came unspontanously then it's excused. There is the super mods who is out there doing their duty. But if you came in here and just like to talk some XXX on purpose or even post some porn URL then that is too much.

On the above quote I would like to 'defend' fulat as knowing him for so long, he's a straightforward guy who uses profanity in his daily conversations. His posting of porn links was just to make a statement to the moderators.
But of course porn urls are always easily accessable which we can PM to one another just to care and share..

Looks like the censorship board will have to work overtime editing our conversations from now on. Fulat, you and I are marked targets! :(

How would you feel if you have a forum of sexual content and a religious fella came in and started posting his views with holy religious jargons and quoting verses from his religious books right in the middle of your wild discussion? The argument that he/she has been religious all his/her life so thats how she talks just don't seem to fit the content of that particular forum. I use profanities myself but i surely won't use them in front of everybody.

Most of you mentioned that we are all grown-ups who can take profanity. Though I do agree on that point, but I do see the need for us to be responsible towards our motherland/kampung... If we continue, swearing/insulting each other with profanity (including posts with vulgar volcabulary), what would non-Sitiawanese (or rather non-ACS Sitiawanese) think of us?

Good point but......nobody smack these things right in front of my face and tell me to buy them. Most people read forum message by message, if yours is slap right in the middle with all the "stuff", people will get offended. Even in DVD stores, porn has a section for it.
