Hi everyone...i have been a victim of technology for the past 3weeks. My Streamyx was giving problem :( That's why i would have been rarely seen on msn too:p
After half a dozen calls, they diagnosed that my problem should be with the modem configurations...phew!
classes till 5, followed by dance practice 8-11 daily...technician couldn't catch me.
The good news is - At long last...my streamyx is resurrected today :D

I must have missed tonnes of interesting threads....any recommendation of hot (& spicy) ones?

oh...me love 'bharata natyam' the indian traditional dance; but as an audience only. too bad didnt learn it. now i think too inflexible & time constraint to pick up.

ok okay...seriously, nothing of 'long-term' sort. it was a performance for IMU DeepaRaya Nite two days ago, on thurs. It was a successful event :)

So during my two weeks' of ENT posting, every nite was spent practicing. Its a GROUP DANCE. Had some jokers who added spice to the practices; tonnes of fun practicing (though time consuming & tiring, last 2 days got heel-ache)...and now its over. =(

Lucky didnt get stage fright...this' the third time i join a dance performance, since enter Uni.

oh yeah, busy...till imagine this --> i leave home (Puchong) before sunrise, only to come back after sunset! if a little late and miss one bus, have to wait almost 45mins for the next one. reality eh...an insight into how future working life will be. in ~1.5yr time

wat do i do? good Q...i just WATCH/ OBSERVE cardiac surgeries. saw quiet a variety in the apst 1wk...bypass (CABG), Valve replacement, correcting congenital heart defects...

too bad, as medical student all tat we do is observe surg...TK HO, i dun plan to be any kind of surgoen at all. ermmm...i just know surg not for me lo! but as HO & MO, dun mind do abit, not for life though!

btw there's something that puzzles me.
i've seen a good number of female paediatricians. and one thing in common...the way they treat us students make u go like "wah..such a grumpy lady. she must be like i wish i was elsewhere, doing something else. yet, im stuck here."

its like even when explain thing etc...peppered wif sarcasm (which is abundant among senior medic personnels anyway...and sadly, being picked up by students too :()

the irony is, when the said paediatricians turn to the babies/ children....they are so warm & caring, and gentle...hmmmmm....double personality?

i know i have lamented too much recently, but...

"NEED A BREAK!!" ~shouting out loud~

hmmm....i started my day with rise-and-shine attitude. But that survey really had an effect! *aiyks, totally forgot about it actually - tat its today*

And after being subjected to lil' bro's Q merely a week ago on "Have u ever regretted choosing this profession?"...and the Qs posed in the 'survey-form' today...now now, Lavanya never lies.

So...i was honest. And it didnt take me long to fill in the form as i'd just been through the whole 'soul-searching' thing to evaluate where i stand, overall in this past ~5yrs, and how i view things now.

Too late to change...and I HATE the fact that i feel regretful...I HATE the fact that I am not as happy as i expected i'd be doing what i am doing...or that i have had performed poorly on most exams...and be far far away from the high achiever that i used to be...and I HATE the fact that it may be coz i'm at the wrong place...

But then again...I LOVE myself for 'making the best out of my situations'...as lil bro said, "U have come this far without anybody's (not exactly true though, coz i've had TONNES of people come my way, God-sent...when i really needed 'someone') help...its just a lil bit more. And once u r a working woman, u will be fully independent & need not depend on ANYONE at all - u shouldn't bother about others, no matter who they are!"

I LOVE myself for finding a reason to life, to each day...trying to make myself a useful being...spend time doing what I enjoy...or things that really matters to me (like keeping in touch wif ppl), though i'm bogged down with 'work' which is a necessary evil...I LOVE myself for being positive ON MOST DAYS...across 90% of situations, no matter how bad they may seem.

But the 10% has been bugging me recently...and draining my optimism.

The future is no doubt uncertain, but i detest the fact that today i actually marked "NO" to the Q: "If given a second chance, would you do Medicine again?"

I wish i could have said a YES...but i would have been lying. And i am just so disappointed with myself. Never in a million years did i ever imagine i'd be doing something i didnt like...and it sounds so, doesnt it? The colleague who glanced into my paper while walking past me asking, "You not Happy, is it?" must have seen THAT answer!

Somehing is terribly wrong somewhere...is it just my attitude?

Fact is...i do love what i do - but not the Medicine part...i LOVE the 'human touch' part...the part where i get to really get up-close-and-personal with patients...which has brushed up my people skill in this past 2years+ since my clinical journey began. Yet...honestly, if i was given a 2nd chance...i'd choose 'psychology' instead =)

Afterall...nothing astounds me more than the human mind. Not all is lost...i still have 'branches' from this field of Medicine to do what i want to do...and hmmm, my interest my morph again throughout the remainder of my life.

But what keeps me going in this course?? Anything that'd make me wish to do it again...well, a teeny weeny factor:

1/ The vastness of this field of 'medicine' & its NO LIMITS potential...being thought by people who are so dedicated & have strong passion for their fields sustains my interest for 'gaining knowledge' in each of the field. Though i myself might 'enjoy' some of the fields...sadly, i have no PASSION...tat's why its all WORK :( (something u have a passion for wont be WORK - it'd be pleasure instead...like this blogging nutsy bussiness of mine)

2/ The personal growth i've achieved...as much as i regret being 'here'...having gone through so many disappointing relationships...i've come to value myself & others more, and realize that sometimes the problem may really be the others, and that i shouldnt be my worst critic & let ppl treat me like a doormat - I've learnt about...and applied 'forgiveness' in my life. Something i havent really been thought of in my earlier years...

3/ Not ALL is lost...there are still some GEMS around :) Just that everyone is busy with their own lifes - but, i'm glad that our paths crossed, and i am proud to have them as friends...treasured gems.

Yet...at the end of the day, when i stare into the big big starless sky...i can't help wondering, what is to become of me?? Only *F@iTh* keeps me going...the faith that good things are yet to come. The faith that you too will find your niche in this big big world...

Meanwhile, i think i need to learn to lighten up...can just feel myself having been subjected to 1001 mood swings (typical scorpio, what do u expect! =p) in this recent weeks...so fragile...crazier than ever in doing things which i have to do, not caring too much of consequences...

I NEED A BREAK...& need to learn "BREAK A LEG" today onwards, man!! (to perform in the stage of LIFE...)

Yup..its The Star. This college section called R.AGE, under R.AGE @Campus section. It was published on Thurs, 30th Nov where IMU was featured in @ Campus.
I've not grabbed hold of the hardcopy yet as it aint available in Batu Pahat :( (hopefully will get it posted to me!)

Dear all…its ‘that’ time again! Time for LiL' VoLCaNo3 PrInC3sS to abstain from posting in forum. After submitting my portfolios at 2pm today…its mainly about studying till my exit viva on 27th Feb 2007. Officially study break started last Saturday, but with portfolio deadlines & my interbeau last Wednesday, tomorrow je lar…erm, actually I guess more like next Monday onwards as I’ll be arriving in Sitiawan on Sunday evening je.

Since I heard fon/dial-up connection in Sitiawan has been bad for the past few weeks (how is it now??)…guess wont even be snooping around much in forum. DISCIPLINE…hehe, so it’d be great if I’m informed about any gatherings/meet-ups during CNY or anytime je la. Could use some recreation…

It feels sooooo ‘heavy-hearted’ to leave Batu Pahat – never thought I would feel this way when leaving Uni…sigh. Anyway, overall…its been a GREAT six months HERE – a semester where only 58 students working towards getting their MBBS with 6-7 lecturers, and a few staffs in a white house and a district hospital & its staffs + lovely townspeople & experiences to make life joyful & memorable… nostalgia weiiiii…

Howdy everyone! Sorry for my recurring MIA episodes. Came back to Sitiawan (finally!), after my mini cuti-cuti Malaysia last Tuesday. Exactly 1 week, and I’ve been pretty occupied since then.

Was greeted by my SPA letter upon reaching home. So been busy preparing stuffs, as will be summoned to work soon. How soon I know not, but its just a matter of time...so, must enjoy saki-baki holidays!

Just today I went to do my obligatory medical check-up. Only investigations like Chest X-Ray & Urine test + visual test were done, have to go again next week.

Had an unpleasant encounter early this morning, at the receptionist (truth be told, its just like Pasar Borong!) desk @ Hosp Sri Manjung. Will share in my blog soon...damn tak puas hati with the way things were! If only I am the Pengarah...hehe...if only.

Rest of the departments were okay, but mom theorizes maybe they treat you nice coz doctor. Shessh...I hope its not that, but that those people at least believe in ‘Service with a Smile’.

But the silver lining is that I learnt a good lesson. After going through grumpy front-counter folks, patients’ stress level will only multiply by leaps and bounds, further to be aggravated by the prolonged waiting hours before finally entering doctor’s consultation room. And their agony doesn’t stop there, what about waiting time at the Pharmacy??

So, no matter how bad a day I might have had anytime in the future, everytime I come across a patient, its my duty to smile & treat them nicely. Just because they’ve come to the ‘cheap’ government clinic/ hospital & adding on to the number of patients we busy doctors have to see doesn’t mean that they should be treated shabbily.

Hope I’ll never forget this...ever!!

Not that I’ve been too free since coming home to CTA1, but erm…so used to multi-tasking, kan.

Else I’d have gotten real restless by now, as not used to this kind of long holidays. Its almost 2months!! Not complaining…but its tensioning when you know not how much longer you have (awaiting the 2nd letter – placement from MoH). So, shan’t think of it yet…*self-psychoing* now u see why its of paramount importance for me to keep my brain occupied!

Arrghh…I’m having insomnia nowadays, and couldn’t sleep till 3.30am yesterday, when I finally finished up some pending articles! While I’m still a free-bird, might as well make the most of my time & passion :D

And oh…I don’t plan to stop taking random photos either, for two reasons:
1/ you never know what might strike some inspiration to write something else

Hie All,
I promised a number of people who’ve been asking about my posting that I’ll inform once I know it. well…so, its official today (though I knew it via fon a day earlier). Now that I got my letter via PosLaju, time to keep my promise:
Hospital Ipoh – we’re asked to report in on 1st June, within 2wks.

So yeah…those 3mths of precious holidays which seemed neverending is finally coming to an end. Glad that work begins after our convo (26th May in KL) – minus the hassle of applying for leave etc.

Good news is...jus rang up the hostel warden today & booked a room for myself (shared) so that i can shift in a couple of days earlier & orientate myself around the area (food hunting!!!)

ahh oddy...overall, i consider self pretty lucky. nice people (thou got sometimes do stupid things and get scolded...or jus get sounded for no reason/ignorance). but ive learnt alot since day1 when i was real blurr...

come 11th, it'll be 1mth since i started work. my 4th on-call tomorow, and for 1st time sicne coming ipoh, i'm developig a sorethroat :(
otherwise...eat ah, haha...i suspect im eating too much, coz sometimes have to miss meals...then i compensate - bad gal :p

cant believe im getting stressed up in ortho! and one of my MOs mentioned this morning that i dun look okay past few days...is everything okay? arrgh...wonder if i look tat bad shape.

haha...sometimes without realizing it, we're stressed up eh. and drg oncalls or bz bz times i realize i get irritated wif patients and tend to talk a bit harshly - and i feel so lousy even wen doing so...and will try to remind myself & be normal, but i cant b sweet wen m irritated kan. sigh....im a bad doctor afterall. gone are the idealism of patient care being the central focus of healthcare...afterall, u need to satisfy ur MO/specialist first, or u suffer...while adapting to different nurses n colleagues.

One thing you should keep in mind is take one thing at a time, and prioritise, even though there may be a long list of things waiting to be done.

went to hosp this am to settle my logbook (arrgh...we nvr escape from them, so we =p) got my last few autographs & submitted to coordinator. settled some research stuffs i was doing for my specialist (followed morning rounds just for the 'fun' thou i wasnt working today - so much so wen my Dato saw me wen jus earlier i told me im leaving today onwards d, he was like "seems like this gal likes our dep so much" hahahaaaa) & juz like tat its been 4mths of MOSTLY fun-filled time & I've Ortho wif a slight 'sigh...how time flies' kinda feeling.
