I saw a similar parade in a theme park in Seoul two years ago also in the month of November. There were lots of Christmas decor in there and there was even an hour presentation of a choir singing Christmas songs already.

Think that theme park is Lotte world or something like that. They have parades every couple of hours which dancers and clowns are everything. Very grand. Didnt know there were so many Christians in Seoul. Probably as a tourist attraction.

I wonder why some people spell Christmas as Xmas. Has Christmas lost it's meaning? Just wondering.

This is something I read from somewhere...
Christmas was first known as The Feast of Nativity as early as 336. Xmas for Christmas is of Greek origin. The word for Christ in Greek is Xristos. The “X” is the Greek letter chi which is an abbreviation of Christ (Khristos), and also represents the cross on which Jesus was crucified. The word Christmas entered the English language by 1050, taken from the Old English phrase Christes maesse, meaning “festival of Christ.” The use of Xmas came into play as early at the 13th century Although the early Christians understood that X stood for Christ's name, later Christians who did not understand the Greek language mistook "Xmas" as a sign of disrespect.

Thanks for the explanation. Some ppl know this meaning but most dun. Some Christians are still very against Christmas spelled with Xmas.
Depends where I used it. If for quickness and shorthand, then spelled Xmas otherwise would be the long form.

Hah!!! Talk about wrong teaching, there was once an MYF counsellor who told us that the X was the new world crossing out the Christ in Christmas. I wonder what other wrong teachings they were teaching.

Back in 1978-1980, during the carolling nites, monay's house was the place the visit. At her house, all the guys were standing under the rambutan trees eating rambutan while the gals were singing. So all the carols were sang without bass.

All the practising, then the carolling, musical and finally the year end barbecue...and mostly made possible by those dedicated counsellors we had...they gave up a lot for us....we were really blessed!
