- i've been down with a really bad cold...again...that bit really sucks!
how is everyone, by the way?
i have already downloaded the pics from pebs' wedding into my comp. now on to step 2 - getting into photobucket. hopefully i can get that done some time this week...

Hi ya Euj. So glad to see you alive and kicking despite the flu. Becareful of bird flu :squeeze: . Post Peb's wedding once you get everything sorted.
probably more like dog flu. just got them back last weekend and i've spending a lot of time with them and they've been sleeping with us in the bed.

:amazed: It's going to make headlines if put that in the media :squeeze: .
yayyyyyy euj didn't forsake us after all!! :D
bummer about the cold. dude, you been plagued by that these past few months...poor euj.
i agree with siewjang - better not publicise your dog sleeping habits ;)
feel better soon, euj

oh poor euj... hope you get better really really soon!
(bird flu is no fun here, people are scared so they stopped buying chicken and eggs already!)
and whooppee... new pics to see soon! :)
plus i have to spend the whole day at the race track tomorrow cos i have a tent at the melbourne cup and i'm taking clients!
LiLiaN
10-31-2005, 08:23 PM
sounds like a leisurely sort of day... although entertaining client, could be tricky... :)
how come i never get to work at the race track?? and if i said that at work, people would think i was trying to take illegal betting.. hehehehe
the melbourne cup is like the kentucky derby of australia. it's also called 'the race that stops a nation'.
ah the old kentucky derby. never been. i hear the mint juleps are good there :D
hope it is a good race and a good work day for you. tomorrow i have to go to work and to my usual slog.. :(
gotta rush off soon to the track, but here's a pic of indra, pebs, mei lin and me dancing on the badminton court at her parents' place at the party the night before the wedding dinner.

here's a pic of ray and me karaokeing at the function the night before at the hoo's place...

you know i'm a big fan of the ray-ej karaoke sessions!! what songs did you do? the one you promised mei?
unfortunately they didn't have it, so we sang endless love and then an alleycats song.
ray and indra at the party the night before the wedding at the hoo's...

if you wanna be happy for the rest of your life
never make a pretty woman your wife
from my personal point of view
get an ugly woman to marry you!
which alley cats song? i bought a koleksi of them and i loooove listening to it. reminds me of my childhood.
long time i haven't seen ray lah...didn't see him when i was home this year..
can't remember the name, but the chorus goes:
'telah lama ku gagal dalam bercinta...'
long time i haven't seen ray lah...didn't see him when i was home this year..
it's easy to see ray. all you have to do is call him up and meet him at a mamak in PJ...
here's one of pebs and colin...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v288/eujene/IMG_1626.jpg
she's gorgeous, as always!! so happy to see her :D
i think the Alleycats song you mentioned is "Seribu Bintang"? and can you believe wikipedia has an entry on Alleycats (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alleycats)??

yes i mean pebs!! indra's beautiful too, but she's not the bride in this case :D
poor vin, i made him listen to alleycats several times and translated the songs for him. hey, in translation, when i thought about the words, it's all very similar. all about love and disappointment when love goes sour! or when one dies. etc... amazing how cheerful the song "andainya aku pergi dulu sebelum mu" is, given the subject matter! :D
yeah, pebs looked great. haven't seen her in that great shape since high school!
i love alleycats...
here's me and ray karaokeing again. not sure what mrs. hoo was doing next to us!

mei and colin look great together - and i always thought she was hot.

Thanks for sharing those pic. Pebs sure looks stunning and her ever famous dimple.
we'll be in malaysian on 23/12 till 9/1. I have a wedding on both weekend. in between i'm planning on taking indra to penang during the week just to look around georgetown for the week. gotta find out what there is to see around there. the old colonial architecture there is beautiful. i'm thinking about staying at the eastern and oriental hotel. any tips?

oh no! poor sila...hope you're feeling better.
we haven't played futsal since last year. indra was in a mixed team and i joined them once.

does indra know anyone in germany who can help..?

and if we use eurail it's really expensive too...die lah...
wow die hard bola fan, man.. :D
actually i enjoy cricket more, but the world cup is going to be such a spectacle, plus the planets are in alignment cos it's in germany, i've lived there before, indra's from there and the socceroos will be there!
that is all true! still sprechen sie deutsch? is it "futbol" in german or is that just spanish?

yeah, really expensive. right now i'm thinking we might just spend a week in germany at the beginning of our hol in mid june and catch 1 or 2 games. then 2 weeks in holland, england and france, and then 1 week again germany.
how many vacation days do you get a year, euj? i'm just wondering. i think we get the fewest paid vacation days ever.. :(
we get 20 days a year here. so, looks like i'll be oweing the company when i go to europe.
how many days do you guys get sila?
LiLiaN
11-21-2005, 05:30 PM
2 weeks for holland, england and france..? that's going to be tight, time wise...
unless you're only doing say, amsterdam, london and paris...
coz if you want to do more than 1 city per country for these...
then it's going to be difficult coz they're quite separated geographically speaking...
but it'll be a cool holiday though... sounds really good!
by the way, ireland has 20 days holiday entitlement for everyone....
and luckily for graduate students like me, it's 30 days!! woohooo!!
we start out with 10 vacation days a year... :crying: and 7 public holidays...
LiLiaN
11-22-2005, 07:11 PM
that's very little isn't it...?? let me see... how many public hols we have...
1st jan (new year's day)... 17th march (paddy's day)... easter bank holiday... may bank holiday (labour day)... june bank holiday... august bank holiday... october bank holiday (halloween)... christmas and st stephen's day... 9 days altogether... sometimes if employers are nice, get good friday off on top of easter monday too....

so lab wise, plus classes, plus part time job at weekend - my basic "working hours" per week is somethng like 60-70 hours!!
it's all for better living, that's what i tell myself... ;)
the grass is always greener on the other side, i suppose ;) just sad i am working on a sunday but unfortunately i must... :(
i was on project in australia... man you guys really take it easy... :) after 5.30 pm, everyone cabut... but i have to admit that i wish malaysia/singapore like that too... :)
where in australia was it and what industry? in our sydney office people often work till midnight, but i think at the end of the day it's about efficiency. i find a lot of people in sinagapore and malaysia put in a lot of hours but spend a lot of time going for coffee, chit chatting and just hanging around. i usually leave by 5:30pm here, but i don't take lunch breaks, we don't chat much at all and it's usually flat out the whole day.
the grass is always greener on the other side, i suppose ;) just sad i am working on a sunday but unfortunately i must... :(
yeah, i'm trying to decide about whether to go to sydney or not for work. the difficult thing is that the lifestyle in perth is so good, my job is ok, i have no boss here, plus my parents are moving here for good in feb. in sydney though, the job will be high flying, but i won't have much of a life.

Find out what you like to see, and attack those places.
I highly suggest doing research online before you go so that you know how to plan your attack strategy.

gatecrash lah, lilian! do you mean the conversation, or the trip? :) i want to put on my itinerary a quick visit to you if we can squeeze it in ;)
of course you can gatecrash lil. either we all go to ireland or we meet up somewhere else in europe lah...

of course gatecrash the trip! with one of ye living down under, one in the states...
if can meet up in europe that'll be fantabulous!!!!
i'm open to either meet elsewhere in europe or in ireland...
although i think probably easier for you two to plan for your itinerary with mei...
then i'll try to squeeze in somewhere coz it's easier for me to get time off than you guys...
i'm thinking of:
- 1 week germany
- then 2 weeks london, paris, amsterdam, rome, bern
- 1 week germany
i can't take 4 weeks off. but i know i want to make it to mei's place - you know she and colin bought a place, right? must visit :) but i don't even have a real itinerary. i'm thinking maybe 2 weeks, tops. which is really a short visit. wait i have to discuss with vin first.
i'm not saying we should spend all that time together lah. we all just agree to meet somewhere lah...london would be good cos then pebs can show us around. on the other hand, would be fun to catch up somewhere where none of us lives, like rome. a bit adventerous!
ya lah, i know we probably won't spend 4 weeks together! :D i'm just saying i won't be able to take all that time off. but it would be really fun if we could go journeying together for at least a short trip, other than london at mei's, yah?
agreed. we could do a few days with pebs in london and then a few days somewhere else...
yippeekayayyyyy... and if we can either visit lil, or lil can come visit us or something, that would be awesome! :D
