You think I can post the latest ACS-OPA Newsletter in the Forum for all to read.

I am trying to get the latest copy from an ex-ACSian/OPA member to email a soft copy and I will email it to you if the Newsletter is allowed to be posted in the Forum.

Thanks,

cucuan

I have just emailed them and complain to them about their laid-back kind of reaction to the Forum and I have asked them to join in the Forum.

I have mentioned to some of the members of the OPA about the Forum during the last re-union dinner and have asked them to join in and they said they will if they have the time. They have not and it's obvious that they dont have the time. As I understand it, most of them are retired and hence time shouldnt be the factor. I am working and still manage to find some time to interact with all you wonderful people. There is so much joy and satisfaction to be able to connect with you people.

I will still try neverthesless to get more members of the OPA to join in. Dont lose heart.

i'd guess the initial inertia is much to great for most ppl.. and if using a dialup... even more so..
I was also like that... until i have broadband in my office....

i know.... sometimes if too formal we get stiffnecked.... and everything suffers.... this is good band, with or without the "official" approval. :)

I didnt realise an approval is a cause for consternation for starting an unofficial thingy?.. :sus:

wow Sir...*shake hands* for promoting our forum to OPA...u r absolutely right...if there's a will, there's a way....like zazu said, slow dialup may be one reason, while mindset that "ah...juz wasting my time..." might be nother reason...however, i do hope more will jump in & be active....coz we also have a good number of people who sign up, but dont post

anyway Cucuan Sir...good job!!:D

It will be great if they can sanction this Forum. To get their official involvment in the Forum, OPA can expand their committee to include a member to handle internet stuff. This way, one of their legs is in

that's an excellent idea...

btw I am now an official opa life member.... member no 648.

I would assume after all these years I would be member number 60,000 and not a mere 3 figures.

Why?

Sitiawan being Sitiawan, ACS being ACS and teachers being teachers, their approach to recruiting members into the OPA is still the same i.e. publish a notice in the OPA "Loyal Post" asking member to get members with free gifts thrown in and wait and that's about it. Somehow the existing committee cant/dont see the Forum as another way of getting more people to join the OPA. I have been living in Sitiawan 3/4 of my life and have been teaching for 23 years and now that I am in the private sectors (life in the fast lane so to speak), I know why your membership no. is only 648.

Some wake-up call is in order for the OPA and I beleive the Forum is the answer. Do you know that it takes them more than a week to post the application form after I requested for it via email to them. Dont get me wrong, it's not that I do not appreciate the work done by our committee in the OPA, I do very much but then we are living in a fast pace world and connectivity is via internet and response time has to be very, very short.

In fact I dont see why we cant call this Forum as the ACS Sitiawan Alumni Forum. What does it matter whether it's official or not official? So long as we keep on trying to get more ACSian to join in and somehow when we do succeed to get more people to participate in good time we will get the recognition as the official Forum.

I agree with Mr Ho's comment on how we can use this Forum to reach out to the many thousands of ex-students to bring them together. Internet has enabled us to come together and share common interest. I am sure many of us have experienced the special Sitiawan bonding whenever we are out of Sitiawan and meet people from our own kampong.

Today, we have ex-students in many countries interacting via this Forum. Personally, I do not know most of you but it is fun and interesting. I am not sure what this would mean to our school and how it will benefit if we can bring everyone from all corners of the world together. But, I am sure the sky is the limit if we seize this opportunity and do it well

Bringing this special ACS Sitiawan bonding and enabled it with internet capabilities, I am sure ACS OPA will explode overnite. Let's extend the use of this Forum and make it official for the sake of ACS :)
