Su Tiong, Ling Hwa Aik !!!! Yes, he was one of my admirers for many many years (Hwa Aik, I would be grateful if you would confirm this).
You have not answered my query re: Adrian Leh.
What is Hwa Aik doing these days? Hwa Aik, are you married and how many children you have? I have five children, two sets of twins, ranging from 2 to 14 years old. I am now an unmarried housewife on state benefits in the UK. I have my own business making cross stitch soft toys and burberry pyjamas, been doing this for 8 years now. Not bad lah. :D
Su Tiong, please convey to Hwa Aik my best regards and warmest wishes.

yeap, just started 4 months ago actually.. aim to finish in 3 years... i know, a bit ambitious (especially since i'm forumming so much!) but hopefully can be achieved... actually wanted to study medic in the first place but fees is prohibitive... so maybe after PhD, maybe not.. afterall, most docs here do take about 2 years to do research in order to get higher posts e.g. registrar etc... i'll see how things go as this PhD progresses...

phd in states take a lot longer, as the first couple of years are spent rotating lab every few months before deciding what one wants to do, which is a great system as one gets to learn about lots of techniques etc... but it also meant one is spending too much time in completing their qualifications... as it is, to get mb needs 5-6 years, add on phd to qualify for md (this is the way here in ireland, need research work before can qualify as md from mb)... gosh, that's a lot of time...

wah, like this also can one... don't you think it's best for the kids to learn as many languages as possible... especially at the age of about 4-9 years old, there's a big window for learning languages there, after it'll be a lot harder to get the grasp of foreign languages...

I didn't mean not to teach them dialect but kids learn them fast. As we goes on, they will catch it eventually. So no worries. :D

02-03-2005, 05:09 PM
good, do teach them... like my little cousins, when they were at the age of 4 or so, can speak malay, mandarin, hokkien and hokchiew... somemore can autotranslate when speaking with one person to the next.. e.g. my aunt spoke to her in mandarin, they'd turned to the daddy and gave message in malay, then somemore told my grandparents same message in hokkien.. so geng one...!

Well, I can say that the kids had the opportunity to live with different ppl. As my daughter, she learned mandarin from her babysitter and at home, we speak English. And now since we got kakak, she's speaking a little by little now. Plus, her school teaches BM too. Would be lucky if her grandma is staying here too. But she see her grandma only once in a blue moon. So a lot of disadvantage too.

Not true! Not true! I was not born to sell. We were all born to buy!
Eh, you know when I was first offered a sales job, this I was told, "Now you are still young, if you are never going to try it now, you will never going to try it when you old. When you are old, even if you want to try without the necessary experience, nobody will hired you, even if they do, you will not get a decent pay. If you try to do sales now and you dont like it, you can still go back to what you like doing but at least you tried."
The real motivational part was,"Just in case you didnt know, all businessman, corporate leaders even our PM are salesman! if you cannot sell, how can you grow your business? and Sales people are the ones who are earning the most money whether other people like it or not!"
So, I took the advice and became a salesman. And for the following few years, I kena fark left, right, up, down. Nothing I do seems to be right until I almost want to whack my manager black and blue and claim temporary insanity. But I guess, the farking helps me remember some very key things which helps me to be more careful when I deal with anything. This also helps me to qualify real leads vs all the bullshit most customers will tell you.
However, the money part is not very true! Still not a corporate leader and not earning more than most people, including most people in this forum.

Foochow...but it is very rare. I feel kinda kekok talking to David in Foochow these days meself. With the little one, it's the standard fare...spell it out. With the bigger one, it's sending him out of earshot. That's the easiest, tho i must say the curiousity level of a teenager is not something easy to contend with.

While driving the 4 wheel, the 2 legs can auto shift your gears for you. Best combination. And the test drives are always good. But once purchased, it is a different story all together. Maintenance is heavy but performance sucks! That's when its time to upgrade.
