I was looking at member's profile. I realised that as if I am the only one filling up the profile. Should member put in a little bit of effort to do it? Daboss, what is your opinion?

My opinion is:
1. It's a free world - only exception is posting sensitive stuff and foul language
2. It would be good if everyone filled in their profile (i also don't like the guessing part)
3. You cannot force people to do what they do not want to do
So how? If I set some profile fields as mandatory - people will start keying in junk into their profiles. Then I would have to PM one by one to force them to reveal themselves. I can ban them and their IP if they refuse but is this what you want?
All the other forums out there do not force members to fill in their profile properly because it's not enforceable...

I agree with Boss.....
I think the forum is set up for old mates to get in touch again. The more simple profile it is, the better.
Each have their own life now and I doubt everyone wants to share all things about themselves, even closest friends they had in school those days. In the least, we can choose to PM about things we want the other to know. Moreover, not everyone is interested to know about everyone, only those you really care and really wish to keep in touch.
No hard feeling, big brother. :) Profile can be a fun thing to bring back old memories, right ;)
i think birthdays are helpful - that's how i guessed some of the people online. usually only applies to people in your same year, but what the hey, right? if everyone filled in their correct birthdays that would at least help us narrow it down to what year they took their SPMs and if you knew their birthdays, who they really are...
I agree 100% with what Da_Boss said.
I myself am a frequent lurker to other forums.....no forums that i know of enforce the rule of making you put your name down. Every single one of them let you be who you want to be. If you really want to know who the person is...PM that person....i am sure he/she will be willing to identify themselves to you.

fishboy, I am just expressing my view. I am not compelling everyone to do so. If I am insistence , I won't be be seeking Daboss view. I am no expert in a public forum like this. BTW, is this thread offensive to you fishboy?

Godfather, I am not angry with ikanlah. Out of curiosity I asked ikan.
Daboss had offered his view. I think what he said was true & reasons given were valid.
We are just exchanging views in this forum. Thank you
