Most men (esp if they are independent & successful) will often say they want an equal, a partner that is independent herself.??
then why is it that you see sometimes the women before or after you are usually the "damstel in distress" the one that has all the drama and needs help.
the independent woman doesn't need help (or mebe not so often as the damsel in distress) but she certainly likes love and attention and wants and needs a man for emotional support even tho she can handle well on her own
why does it seem the damsel in distress get more of this attention from these men??
just curious if anyone noticed this or knows why? :unsure:
My opinion is that EGO is d FACTOR here...men must feel needed, (and sometimes not very secure in his r'ships) so it is a nice stroke for his ego to be with someone who is needy of him and in this way.. he cannot handle a woman of equal caliber...
Watz urs...males/females...do contribute. :)

basically men is sensitive but not as sensitive as women. therefore if a lady is in distress, she most probably would be attended to but on the other hand if independent women needed attention they should indicate it as most men have capital EGO and not ESP ability to read a woman mind.they would probably keep a distant if possible!

Both the Independent Woman and Damsel in Distress stereotypes are just that: stereotype. Neither exists 100% as itself. Every human being has a complex personality that might be part of each, or neither, or totally a combination of something else.
Anyone who sees women only in either or both ways needs a wake up call.

And any women that says they are either damsel in distress or independent is a hypocrit. really, the question of why men responds better to damsel is not really about the men's EGO as it is about women's EGO as well. Men has needs to be needed, true coz that what being a man is about (don't ask, i just repeat what i read) and women are guilty of the need to be needed as well; the need for men's attention. all these (waves around the thread) is making me confused.
i just want to ask this: how many women want to be treated with equals here? honestly now, how many? AND at the same time, feels that the men should open the door for them, mostly pay for their food when they go out, or generally thinks that "lady's first"?? becouse if there are, this is the ultimate case of hypocrasy. :squeeze:

As long as U don't overdo it. I don't think a guy likes his woman to be too dependant, whiney and all. Well what do U think guys?

well, i prefer a women to be a little independant, yet with a certain degree of dependence on the men, and hopefully, they are not whiney at all. it's a major turnoff.

hhmmm...but somehow, whiney ones seem to get their way :rolleyes:

amen, brother!! same goes for men, to say that men wants only the damsel in distress to boost their egos is quite shallow, and i think insulting to men. i think, men, like women, want everything. balanced human beings who knows when to be dependent and when to be independent. i find vin opening doors for me to be charming and affectionate. if i get to a door first, i will open it and i won't stand like an idiot until vin opens the door for me. it is a nicety and not a necessity.
and since we share our incomes, does it really matter who pays? it all comes out of the same pot! we take turns being dependent on each other - YES vin depends on me as much as i depend on him - and anyone who says i'm NOT a fully functional, independent woman better be ready to get an ass-kicking.
hhmmm...but somehow, whiney ones seem to get their way :rolleyes:
i disagree. i think i get my way a lot and i wouldn't consider myself to be whiney (ok, when i'm sick and drugged up, maybe, or if hisham takes away my candy and i'm 5, of course, but i mean now ;) ).

not sure whether there is a 100% independent woman or damsel in distress....the women that i have met are, among others, as follows:-
a. strong and career minded; but an extremely wonderful human being;
b. appears to be weak and always giving the impression that she is helpless but when challenged, strong willed and determined to succeed;
c. seems to take things easy, friendly but business driven; and
d. appears to be non-confrontational on most issues but when faced with faith related issues, passionately confrontational
just sharing :D
