[closed] Reputation system updates discussion

Dear members,

Further to the implemetation of reputation system, we've added this. Every 25 minutes, a daemon (scheduled program) will get up and check to see if there are any 'promotions' that need to be done. Members will therefore be seperated to 2 main groups (regular and restricted).

Regular
- members have regular rights.
- regular members with less than 0 reputation points will be demoted to restricted users.

Restricted
- users have restricted rights (so far the only restriction is cannot create new threads - may add more as the mods see fit).
- restricted users with 0 or more reputation points will be promoted to regular users


The above was announced in the annoucement forum. I've started this thread for members to discuss.

have to do it trial and error lo... wont know how it will be done but allong the way sure will have more feedbacks.. as for now i am ok with it.

how bout restricted members allowed create a thread in introduction... at least can intro themself if no wone welcome him.. hahahahhahaha.......

vic, new members do have 10 points so he/she would be regular users... it's just any forummers that have 0 points or less (i.e. having bad reputation) that their priviledges are suspended until point improvement takes place...

besides with everyone all rushing to welcome newbies, i'm sure he/she won't have problem about the intro bits anyway... ;)

in short, everyone who has signed up and activate their account is regular user...
anyone who has 0 or less points will become restricted user...

If you see on the right top of each post, there is a balancing scale (just like BN logo).

If you agree/like someone's post, just click on it and approve it. If you do that, that person will gain points from you (you don't lose points).

If you disagree/dislike someone's post, just click on it and disapprove it. If you do that, that person will lose points (you don't gain points).

No, the mods will not issue any warning in this case. When your reputation point goes below 0, the little green icon will turn red. Red light means 'Go To Jail'. Hahaha.

It's possible but the system is able to detect this and the mods WILL know.. ;)

i am trying to check ppl's status of the reputation but it is no where to be found. how do i know ones reputaion points???? where to see ah....???

If I'm not mistaken, you can only see the narrative by pointing your mouse on the green square. Only mods and admins know the actual points. It looks like you are on the distinguished road...:)

User can only hope to improve: < -50 points
User has a little shameless behaviour in the past: -10 points
User is an unknown quantity at this point: 0 points
User is on a distinguished road: 10 points
User will become famous soon enough: 50 points
User has a spectacular aura about: 150 points
User is a jewel in the rough: 250 points
User is just really nice: 350 points
User is a glorious beacon of light: 450 points
User is a name known to all: 550 points
User is a splendid one to behold: 650 points
User has much to be proud of: 1000 points
User has a brilliant future: 1500 points
User has a reputation beyond repute: > 2000 points

Everyone has 10 points to begin with. To check your current point, click on the little balancing scale on top of your own post.

If you have more than 10 points, that means someone must have approved your post. If that person leaves a remark, then you can see it in your control panel.

The same goes if you have less than 10 points, someone must have disapproved your post somewhere.

If there is any misuse/abuse, the mods can detect.

I think we are all grown ups. So, no worries about the old grudges from school days.

there is no distinction between a mod and a regular member. 'wattage' depends on things that everyone can achieve - e.g. post count, tenure in forum, reputation, etc. :)

heck, my vote counts for less than many of the regular posters... :(

equally, if there are posts that deserve negative remark, work away...
