I am not too sure of the price now. It used to be 50c per plate/packet when I was still a small kid. I know this because I grew up in Kg Cina.

Any of you guys eat at 'tiong kok lau', almost next to Maybank in Kg Koh, 2nd shop opposite the junction to Simpang Dua/Tiga? The kampuan there is quite good. Add Kg Koh chilli, gives it a little kick. The loo mein is also not bad. I never give that a miss whenever I go back to Sitiawan.

No problem...if our visits back home coincide....do give it a try...i meet many out-station people there whenever I go back there to have my fix of kampuan. I think you will probably like it...n if you like, you can always ask them to add the loo chek on the kampuan....gives it another kind of taste, quite nice if i may say so..

Best Kampuang has to be the Jalan Belakang Hokkien Mee Stall. Eat there everyday whenever I am back. Ais Kacang Stall has Best Lu Mien but I have stopped going there (if possible) after seeing how filthy the kitchen is. The next time you are there, please take a good look at the utensils.

I am a little surprise though NONE of New Village (Kg. Koh) noodle stalls were up for the the poll.

No matter what is the outcome, I am sure most will agree Sitiawan got the best noodle. :)

i think sometimes it is true...just as in some say plastic is added when they fry the bawang....it seems the plastic makes the bawang more crunchy and last longer...tak masuk angin. so can u imagine taking bawang with plastic which i supposed is carcinogenic. But I do notice that some of the bawang goreng tastes and feels suspicious. These days, I sometimes tell them to omit the bawang goreng when I order certain dishes...

i think you can taste it. Feel the bawang and they are quite rubbery. And they don't have that nice bawang smell. Must have been diluted by the plastic...or tapped by it.

but we also cant tell whether they used it or not unless we see it with our own eyes.

Haha! good one never thot of that...

Yalor... but somehow the Foochow there is a mixed-up lot, when it comes to food names.

Hokkien mee: they called it Foochow mien
Chin-Noon-Miang: they calle it Foochow Bing

Another one of their supposedly "Foochow" delicacy is Vinegar-Egg-Starch. and i as a Foochow, cannot stomach it.. It is almost like sharks-fin soup, minus the fin/gellatin and crab meat.. okay ler, it's basically, beaten egg cooked in hot starchy balck vinegar...
