After reading the Foo Chow's Traids' thread, I realised that it is closed.
1) Must we close a thread if one party is not happy?
2) Should we give the other party a chance to justify their claims?
3) What are the conditions before a moderator can exercise to close a thread?
4) What are the conditions before a moderator can change the title of the thread?
5) Can a member appeal to DaBoss to re-open a thread?
I am not taking side here.
I have witnessed some events and I think it is time that some explanation should be given for action taken by the Moderators.
Let us all work toward a big happy community here.

Basically, if we see a thread going down a path that will create a heated arguments, we will go ahead and close the thread. Btw, we have already got people complaining about that thread.

1) I am asking a general question here
2) Is there any notice or warning given to the member

1) Replying in general also.
2) Nope....if thread's general feedback is negative....and is causing unease among members, we will go ahead and closed it.

i've received a pm from a member asking me to reply to this thread:
1. this is a community and informal forum - you don't want to be too strict with rules here
2. for an informal forum to work, mods should have discretionary authority
3. in this case, the thread did seem like it's getting into trouble and a mod closed it. personally, i think it was a good decision.
regards.

may i add a suggestion - one can always approached a mod to discuss the decision and request for re-opening of a thread (if agreeable following the discussion)... but the policy would be in general trying to avoid sticky situation before it gets too messy...
