i guess if i have the time and money, i'd like to have 6 children :) but to be practical, i think i can only afford 2 or 3. we're considering a 3rd kid - definitely not this year - may in 2 years time.
how many kids do you think a standard family should have in this day and age?

Ideally I want to have half a dozen too. Practically 2 or 3 the most. :(

i think 4 is a bit heavy lah - both in terms of expenses and time...
after thinking about it, i think 2 boys + 1 girl very good combination...

You have a boy and a baby girl already. So, should your next baby is a girl, try again for a boy okay?

I would like to have 3-4, if I can afford. Still long way to go for me, no need to worry so much now. Right ah?
Well....i am a bachelor...no comment!!!! :p
But i will say in this day and age it all depends on if you want to send your kids overseas for education or not. Local Uni....well...not that easy to enter laaa....not saying your children is not smart....but we play probabilty laaa...
For US....the general guidelins these days is about USD40-50k per year per child for a 4 year degree.
UK....i am guessing about 10-15k UK pounds per year.....so thats still quite a chunk but definately cheaper than US.....
Australia and N.Zealand...should be about the same for UK(I think)
Local Uni's....errr.....dem difficult to get it.....not all people can get there....
Of course u can argue that my kid can get scholarship but there is only so much of that around....
Bottomline....all depends on what you want for your children.
And with that reasoning...i am voting 0 kids, too expensive and all that is not including a whole dem lot of hidden cost!! :p

maybe sila heard the following commercial:
"we always go for the tall, dark and handsome types, but there comes a time in life when we all go for the short and bald type. ..."
ending quote: life changes with a baby.

I think 3 should be a practical number nowadays. At least one boy in the family. Hihi....I'm hoping for twins. None in my generation so far. The last one was my dad's generation....2 pairs of twins.
Any tips on how to get twins? :p

i had 1 barbie growing up, and always the poor barbie kept getting bullied by the stuffed animals lah.. they sorok her clothes, twist her head backwards, made fun of her unrealistic proportions, and the fact that she had no fur like the animals.. :D seriously - then hisham would bully poor barbie with his transformer toys. then i said, damn, transformers much cooler than barbie. all you can do with barbie is change her clothes! transformers can transform into something else completely!! :D
okla okla i admit. i got a barbie to join the girls, but i seldom played with her. rather play with hisham's toys...

jahat!
seriously tho, try pregnancy inducers (dangerous),hormone injections (also dangerous) or just plain in-vitro fertalisation (boring). the last one almost always gets a twin, triplets or quaduplets.

i think if i had started early, no morning sickness, got maid(s) n means, a dozen sounds great. Been reading this book, real life story of a couple who decided to hav 12 n did, their children grew up n wrote it... amazing....titles:cheaper by the dozen n follow up sequel :belles on their toes (had me rolling in laughter)
BUT, 4 sounds more practical n an even luvly number...
IN REALITY, i guess i'll stop at 2. the morning sickness really killed that thot...
really admire those who hav more than 2 though.....
for me anything will do. really want to have some kids. just haven't had the opportunity yet. i guess 2 or 3 would be just nice, but definitely not just 1...

yeah, i was single child for 8 years till i managed to convince my parents to have another kid. it's scary knowing that you're the only child. feel all alone in the universe...

actually i was orait, quite focused and determined until cavebaby refused to budge....then the midwife called the doctor and they gave me the gas. after that i was all over the place. finally had spinal block & c-section. defnitly NOT fun, but excelllent quality of life with cavebaby more than makes up for it!
holding my baby for the first time ever and giving her milk is what i remember, not the orful stuff.
