Have a couple of friends here who are doing a science PHD - they are thinking of putting their names in for the Green Card lottery. I suppose it'll be good for you to be in the States, Lil since as you mentioned there is a chance for career advancement in science, no?

i haven't gone to a concert in a while. i think i did see the cincinnati symphoni orchestra a couple of years ago, and a couple of plays too but lately i've been in a cultural sinkhole. too much fun running around the house, weeding, baking, etc :) when i was in college i used to go watch either play / concert / recital / musical / performance of some sort on a weekly basis. now rent dvd oso return without watching - too many things to do lah!! :D

one idea is to drive sticks into the ground and tie a foil pie plate on a string. the idea is the plate has to be just off the ground so the critter will brush against it and make a loud noise when the foil hits the stick. and hopefully scare it off...

kid got shot while in school, believed to be from strayed bullet from people hunting nearby...

i think that hunters should hunt with traditional weapons (i.e., bow and arrow, that sort of thing). shooting at animals with such high tech guns and targeting systems and that sort of thing - why call it hunting? but then like i said, i can't look bambi in the eye and say, you are my dinner. if it's wild. don't seem to have a problem with animals that are raised, domesticated for the purpose of being food some day. :)
