found out something from the tyre shop i went to today. there's a certain filthy rich individual who has a collection of more than 10 luxury cars, which he doesn't drive. but every year he'll change all the tyres on the cars, costing him 50-60k...
i know he's rich and he has the right to spend the money whatever way he wants to, but this is a total waste of the earth's resources... and people are dying from hunger every minute...
someone better tell him that there'll be a day of reckoning and however much wealth he has will not help him on that day... :mad:

rich people should be sensitive to the world's resources too - ok. but if they are not sensitive and want to be wasteful, it's still their money - they do as they wish - it's their right...

dino, maybe that's why we just us - not filthy rich :)
since we live in capitalist, democratic societies, i guess people should be allowed to spend their money as they see fit as long as it doesn't hurt others...on the hand, grossly excessive expenditure is a bit hard to justify, especially nowadays when we all know the consequence our consumption has had on the environment...

having said all that, i believe people have a right to chose how they wish to spend their money - that's the beauty of democracy...

value is invented by humans to keep track of who's better than who after we go through the me bigger, you smaller, i keep your woman age.
however, it's also has cause value of many things to change drastically, and by just looking at the demand-supply situation, value changes as easily as changing clothes.
i agree with rich ppl doing what they want with their money, coz it's theirs. that's also because i wanna be able to do that to. spending more than i need? who won't want that?? however, spending so much on something that doesn't bring any value to life, now i think that's plain wasting. well, maybe he gets high on changing rubbers on his cars, but maybe that's just him

IMHO, i think i agree with what daBoss said.. the money is theirs, but of course we don't know where they get the money from and that's none of our business either..
we might not know that even tho they are rich and spending lavishly (like what we see sometimes) maybe they do contribute their part to charity i.e foster homes or some national aids thingy? so for me, i usually don't feel anything if i see these ppl spending their money like water but i'd always think if i have that money i will spend it on other things which i think are more useful :) just like that loh..

He changed his almost new tyres to help poor souls like me who can only aford to pay for 2nd hand tyres which are like new.
BTW, not all rich people waste resources like that. My big big boss got so much money that he donated all his earnings from the dividens from the shares he owns in the company which is worth about USD2.3bil to his trust fund which are used to help the poor and needy. If only I can get 1%......*sigh*

I bet ur boss is very generous in bonus, etc issues when it concerns his workers, rite?
